    In Dynamic Pro you don't need TC off to wheelie, also Suspension is always fully self adjusting, both in Dynamic and Road mode, Dynamic is simply the sportier setting, also 226kg is the wet weight not dry.

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  Před 8 měsíci

      Did I say dry weight? Damn sorry about that 😅. And the wheelie acted up really strange. Best friend found some stuff on the internet that the software from the S1000XR just doesn't want you to do long wheelies 😅🤷‍♂️

      @@LifeofSmokey No problems, just wanting to make sure the XR gets the proper justice it deserves, way too many people look it down, and imo the Gen 2 is worse than the Gen 1, it lost a lot of it's "fizz" the Gen 1 would walk a non shiftcam RR up to 100mph due to better geometry for acceleration and more midrange. One of the best bikes I've every owned. Still makes me question my choice to replace it with the 1290 SDGT. But alas both are great bikes in different ways. The XR is definitely the best allrounder there is though save for offroading.

    Thanks for the brilliant review as always Smokey, I'm torn between an M1000R, S1000RR or S1000XR. Mainly road ride, but want to do track next year, would be nice to be able to tour with the Mrs Pillion sometimes. Most fun would probably be the S1000RR, Most pracitcal daily M1000R and for our longer journeys, the XR. Will have to see. Thanks again for your brilliant content.

    You have the rev light flashin at 6000-7000 rpm and shifts up there, wich is way to early, my light is set at 11500 rpm, rev limiter at 13500 rpm.
    the speeds you are doing 55, 60 70 kmh, i would be in 1e or 2nd, not in 4th or 5th.
    The bike comes to life at 4000 and realy lives up above 7000.
    When cruising the highways, I set cruise control to 140 kmh in 5th or 160 kmh in 6th.
    I ride between 25000 and 30000 a year, all year all weather between Hasselt, Antwerp and Brussels with my 2019 model XR.
    The big windscreen, denali d2's on the cambus big comfortable sadle and three bmw paniers make this the perfect commuter. (try filtering the 313, 314 or brussels or antwerp ring, it's fun!)

      It was a brand new bike and just did 1000km and needed to come in for first service just when I picked it up. That's probably why the shift light is set so low. I also don't want to destroy anything so I'm very careful with the bikes I get from the press fleet 😁. But agree it's a perfect daily rider and the sound is awesome!

    • @petervautmans199
      @petervautmans199 Před 8 měsíci

      What difference did you noticed after you installed the tune? Thank you.

    • @ridingdreamer
      @ridingdreamer Před 6 měsíci

      @EEEBA1 if you go for full headers, you might need db killer to suppress the exhaust note. Db killer will take some power out which you are gaining from headers, so whats the point? BT alone is fine enough. It made the bike better, good initials, better torque, better revs, opened exhaust servo valve etc.

    • @EEEBA1
      @EEEBA1 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@ridingdreamer Thank you. I will do that. I don't need or want more power, the bike has plenty.
      I mainly want more torque in the lower rev range, and a smoother throttle response. Some say that the quickshifter works better too after the tune.

    You are kinda right on the engine and not, to be specific this is the engine from the S1000R, the diference to the RR is that the superbike engine has variable cams that give it that top end power, kinda like the old E46 M3 had, the XR and R have just normal cams, the M1000XR will come with the RR motor and it will be on a diet, that bike should be proper fun.

      Superduke GT is a Superduke R with fenders. I love both but it's comparing a fourstroke dirtbike with a twostroke dirtbike. One loves rpm's , the other one like low rpm torque. Both bikes are so much fun but this is personal preference 😁

    Hi Smokie
    I tryed a 2023 test bike at a BMW dealer.
    And it is a nice bike, fast, nimbel, and comfy. But at the same time it was a bit boring (like its to nobel, lags character and sharpnes, especially in its throttle control, I felt as if "it has a throttle cable made from elastic cord"
    What is your opinion on this topic?

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Let's just say I am also waiting on the +200hp version just like you 😁. I liked the bike a lot but BMW's for my experience need to be smooth and fast. Ducati needs to have a bit more mechanical feeling to it and KTM has to be that raw beast. I think BMW did a very good job with how this bike rides for their dna. But the bike comes to life in high rpm's and that's where you need to keep the revs. I like it , love the sound and smoothness but I do need some more horsies 😌

    • @Kirkster131

      Yea, even the RR bikes over here are nerfed heavily. A tune of some sort is mandatory. I did the Bren Stage 1 after riding it for a day after the 600 mile break in unlock. Whole different animal, a few days later I did the exhaust and all of the Bren performance mods as well as the Bren Stage 2. Yes it is not an RR but damn…. Will see about the M1000XR next year, probably going to be a very limited numbers bike. But frankly the XR should have had the shift cam motor already…

    Whilst i loved the S1000XR, i felt that here in the UK, it was wasted on the roads. You couldn't utilise it's performance fully.
    I had initially set my budget at 17k, but after turning down the 1000XR, i settled on a 900XR TE at 8.5k, which was more than enough for UK roads and touring.
    That now leaves me with 8.5k for a weekend toy/very occasional track day.
    Hoping to get out this weekend to test a Speed Triple 1050 RS or 2019 SDR 1290.
    Cracking review.
    Was hoping to get a 901 Expedition but earliest we can get orders in the UK is next March/April which was a deal breaker for me.
