I was only able to fly with my dad just one time. I remember all the model planes he bought me, airshows he took me to when i was a kid. Those were good times.
Your very lucky to share your passion with your father. I lost my father along time time ago. I sure do miss him. I'm a pilot to and it would be great if I had my father as a copilot. Enjoy it. Great video thanks.
The video was great as usual but I really liked you gave us a view of the diner and the food. You go to many food places and it is nice to see why you were going there and what the food looks like.
That was AWESOME! Such a great thing to have the restaurant right next to the ramp ! U're soo lucky ! Great video, great landing ! Saludos from Santiago de Chile !
Great video, really enjoyed it and your professionalism. I like that you're calling "gear up" also, lol. One of the main reasons why I want to get my PPL is so I can do these types of flights with my dad. Keep it up, hope you get to fly corporate pretty soon!
I used to go flying with a buddy of mine who was accumulating cross country time for his commercial license. I don't have a pilot's license but he'd let me do some of the easy stuff. I don't think he ever got his commercial license. He and I both together met a guy who put us both into the computer industry. I don't think we ever made it to Fredricksburg, but we went to Castroville, Victoria, Hondo, Austin and I think we landed in New Braunfels once. He was working at Wright Flyers fueling and washing airplanes.
Awesome video as always josh, thanks for sharing. I recommend not being in the habit of putting landing gear up in a single engine aircraft until you are out of usable runway. Speaking from experience...I had a fuel flow issue in a mooney at about 25 AGL on the takeoff roll, let's just say I was glad my gear wasn't up. Keep up the great work!
Love vid the Josh, but I have travelled on all continents and you cant beat a full English and a nice cup of tea. Happy flying, soon I shall be flying with my Dad.
Biscuits and Gravy Texas style ! Damn Son, yaal went and made me hungry for some down home cookin I live in the east and the only way to get it is to cook it your self. My Eggs Benidict is awesome but biscuits and gravy does not bode well :( So I always get a vicarious thrill when you r ago in Ta BBQ ! Brisket, links , chicken damn son ! Thanks again it is lovely to see you and your Dad in your awesome relationship. He put the airplane bug on you and you share your love of Aviation as well as allow us to see the LOVE you give Dad and Dad to you. U r blessed
Hoping my dad is looking at a future Cessna pilot as well.. very into flying and hoping to be able to fly my dad around like this one day. Amazing channel, new sub! :)
Josh! finally! I have watched your videos for years, you fly off to eat at some airport diner, but the video ends at landing.... So nice to see some footage inside the diner... The food... The convo... Now we know why you flew there for breakfast... Kudos my friend
I just love this channel keep it up I just love this sooooo much that even I want to be a pilot just loved it plzzz upload more videos...........love frm india
I love the little diner at our local airport, The Tail Winds Cafe. Maybe it's the ambiance, I don't know, but I just love being at the airfield, seeing the aircraft taxiing, taking off, coming in. :) MiF
I live in Kerrville and had heard about the airport diner in F'burg but had never had the opportunity to visit. Thanks to you I just had the pleasure. I am new to your channel and LOVE the chance to be your co-pilot. Can't wait for the next adventure. Best of luck to you and yours!
I'm a gravy connoisseur as well. I'd have to give that a try if I wasn't so far away. We have a popular diner here at Lone Rock, WI that claims to have the best and it's very good but it's still Yankee gravy in my book. Keep up the good work. Love the channel and hope to see you at OSH this week.
so I assume you are going to keep training till you get your ATP. Mt life goals are to fly with you and Steve also before I get too old. over the next year I have tons of hours to catch up on. The job market is amazing right now and it comes down to hours so I am trying to log everything I can this year. I love the videos, they are great to watch when we have horrible weather in Detroit. It definitely helps me keep focused as I am having to read a billion NTSB reports for term papers. This year I was holding off because I was waiting for my medical (got my first class) so now I can start the fun stuff. I have been amazed at how easy you picked up the radio that was the most intimidating part for me and I have a HAM license. it seemed so fast paced at first but watching you and Steve helped so much.
Awesome! I live about an hour away from the Airport Diner. I am actually taking flight lessons there! You actually flew over my grandparents ranch on approach.
did i see an OV-10 with a blanket over the cockpit on the ramp? there was a B-25 that you followed to take off once, as well, maybe a quick local video tour? great to see a smile on your dads face, first time i can recall it..
From what I have found the earlier in the morning that you request Your clearance the quicker you'll get it with Austin. At 50R we have to do it over the phone. XD
You need to make a trip to Spokane Wa sometime there is a nice cafe called skyway cafe at Felts Field and then you can vist Seattle and the Museum of flight at Boeing field. After that you can fly to Organ and visit the Tilamook air museum which has a bunch of ww2 aircraft after that you can go to Minnville Organ and see the spruce goose. There is lot's to see in the great pacific northwest.
I was taught to announce the type and color of your aircraft at non-towered airports rather than your registration number. For example, "Longmont traffic, red and white Skyhawk taking the active runway two niner, left downwind departure, Longmont." Or, if in the traffic pattern, "Longmont traffic, red and white Skyhawk wings up, left base runway two niner, Longmont." As everyone mentioned before, the other aircraft won't be able to see your registration number. They're more interested in knowing what type you are and where you are in relation to their position.
Josh I noticed you use the same headset. I tried connecting mine to an Icom handheld radio, with their adapter plug, to fly to another airport for radio work and I got so much feedback that it was unusable. It works fine on the Bose A20. Anyway, you might try it if you have one of those Icom backup radios
I bet your dad loves that he gets to spend that much time with you flying and sharing your love for aviation!
I was only able to fly with my dad just one time. I remember all the model planes he bought me, airshows he took me to when i was a kid. Those were good times.
Your dad can be proud of you. You do all the correct things and you always put safety first Good Job.
So blessed to have this experience. Thanks for sharing.

Hehe, he kind of owes his dad a breakfast or two after the "incident". :)
Fill me in, uneducated here.

I always love those time-lapses you do! Keep those awesome videos coming!
Great video, I loved the vlog-style twist at the end. Always been a fan of yours!
The video was great as usual but I really liked you gave us a view of the diner and the food. You go to many food places and it is nice to see why you were going there and what the food looks like.
A memory that you'll treasure the rest of your life.
Last time I was at Gillespie County Fredericksburg, saw my old Comanche 180 landing. My two former partners aboard.
How'd that pan out? Lol
This is exactly what I want to do for my dad sometime in the future
Love it when your dad said... Nice on the landing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻

Flew to Fredericksburg with friends in a King Air 200. While there my old PA24 lands. Nice visiting with old partners.
I see you getting gains in your biceps Josh, keep working!
I fly from Boerne stage to Fredericksburg to go to the Hangar Diner pretty frequently myself!
I love the little diner at our local airport, The Tail Winds Cafe. Maybe it's the ambiance, I don't know, but I just love being at the airfield, seeing the aircraft taxiing, taking off, coming in. :) MiF

You might try the diner at Hicks Field just North of Saginaw, Texas sometime...especially for a Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast.
Greetings from MMMY (MTY) A couple of your videos have been enjoyed in english class. Great stuff.

7:19 awww I thought the runway below was runway 35 from Nephi! Nah fam that would have filled me with excitement as I am a Bruno Vassel viewer.
I miss flying like crazy. It bums me out because I have completely forgotten how to talk on the radio like a pilot.
"A biscuit and gravy connoisseur"... That's my kinda guy... Now I have to eat there...
Thats a very good landing

Clean
so cool man
Sub'd! Dang you could render a lot of hours of flying and who knows you could be a commercial pilot :)
Right turn, 10 degrees to 360 from RWY heading 35. ;). Cool videos though!
Rate from easiest to hardest: Landing, Take off, keeping altitude and bearings, and Talking on the radio.
Flying for food! What fun!
Josh I noticed you use the same headset.
