  • ABBA - Don't shut me down | REACTION (First time hearing) is my very first reaction to the new song from 2021.
Im gonna be honest and say, it was hard to keep the tears back. This was an emotional ride. I am SO impressed by ABBA and this was a fantastic piece of music, that I could never expect.
ABBA is reunited, and this is their thank you card to the fans, and a heads up of what the future will bring.
I have NEVER been sad and happy at the same time listening to a song. Its an incredible feeling that no other band has achieved.
Strap yourself into the DeLorean time machine, because you are about to be thrown back straight to the 1970s!
This is a historical moment in the history of music. A moment, many thought would NEVER come, but it did!
ABBA is one of the most famous bands in history, and here they are again. They will perform a pre recorded LIVE show in London, in an arena, built only for that purpose, where all ABBA members have done the motion capture for the performance, for 5 weeks, and then been de-aged to look like its 1979 again!
THANK YOU for watching my videos! It makes me so happy!

Dear Rocker Downs, where do I begin, my Italian dad was a jazz snob, especially latin jazz. Then the 70's
brought us ABBA. My dad instantly fell in love with ABBA and the gorgeous Swedish Agnetha and Frida.
When driving in the family car if an ABBA song came on the radio up went the volume so loud that my
mom would just roll her eyes. Oh the memories, miss you dad. I wish you were here to see this. Yeah ABBA!

I am 58 and I just CANNOT believe what ABBA has done here. As I get older this type of music makes me emotional but this album I have to listen privately. Most music I constantly play it I get sort of bored with it but NOT this. ABBA is so incredible they should be in the hall of fame if not already there. LOVE YOU ABBA. In my mind you have done your best song EVER on this album. Tickets booked two months ago. Really looking forward to it.

So many times when bands get back together, they're a shadow of who they were at their peak and it's really more about nostalgia than whether or not they still have it. ABBA is *NOT* one of those bands. This album is ABBA, 100% as good as they were 40 years ago. It's bittersweet because it's great to have new music but it also means we've lost 40 years of music that could have been.
ABBA is the single greatest band of all time.

I’m 60 years old, and ABBA were my group when I was at school. I had exactly the same reaction, tears of joy to hear them sing again. Two days on I still tear up when I play this song. It’s unmistakably ABBA, and who would have thought they would give us new songs after all these years. It’s fine to cry, music creates such strong emotions - thank you for sharing on camera exactly what so many of us are feeling right now ❤️

    • @frangomares
      @frangomares Před 2 lety +19

So much has been runnning through my mind these last few days... I can't even manage to know what I want to say or express. I've been listening to this one specially continuously... even on my mind (when I can't play it). I didn't know what to expect. I was a youngster when they split and it's been almost forty years, but suddenly when the song started playing, it was like those forty years disappeared. I felt so at home and at the right time... I felt like "One of Us" was just a week ago... I was shocked and pleased and happy and sad and everything at the same time. Abba was back Really? Had they been away?
So it's been a rollercoaster of feeling... and so much crying. Memories of loved ones and sheer enjoyment. My brother who was also a fan died early this year (COVID related) and I know he would have loved this so much... I'm crying now again. So sad he didn't manage to see this... So It's been really, really, really hard for me this "voyage" back and forth in time.
They're absolutely awesome... And this song is what I was exactly hoping for... The voice of Agnetta is just incredible, Frida is also incredible... I don't know. My mind is just overwhelmed with thoughts and feelings and happiness.

You are too young to have been waiting for so long for them to come back (I must confess I thought it would never happen...) so it's really nice to see that new generations share our love for them.
Thought it's been sad, it's also brought back so many good memories of my brother and I knew we could have been talking for hours about this. Laughing, crying and all at the same time, just as you said.

YES! I have spent almost my entire life fascinated by that "third voice" effect that only happens when Agnetha and Frida harmonize... there's basically nothing else like that sound in the world. It's this amazingly fortuitous combination of two voices that are the perfect compliment to one another, somehow, with both singers having flawless solo voices with seemingly limitless ranges meeting in the middle to conjure something perfect together.

I have a theory. We are now living in sensory overload brought about by the internet and digital tech. Everything is complicated and intense. ABBA’s music let’s the brain decompress and return to simple ideas and notions that are linear and digestible without choking. It lets us go on a journey without the drama and multiplicity. For anyone who is battered by short attention spans and 1 minute immediacies, this is a vacation.

There are very few things worth waiting 40 years for......... This absolutely was. Filled with every classic Abba melody and hook. Could have been recorded in their heyday. Can you believe those voices are in their 70's...... stunning and beautiful. Im swimming on a nostalgia high now. I was 7 when they broke up, but I loved their music all my life. From when I was a teenager and they were very uncool they taught me all the emotions from love and regret, sadness to pure joy. Many people have commented the lyrics are about how they feel about each other, which is probably true, but in classic Abba style I believe they are also a direct message to their loyal fans, and I just want to say to you 4 beautiful humans.... Thank you for the music.
How can I love you so much when we have never met, The songs you sang me taught me how, and that I won't forget

The loss of Abba for so long has been very difficult to have when your a huge fan then suddenly like a huge shock they come back an so much all at once it’s an emotional earthquake you can’t comprehend there sound it’s really them and they sound as they did 40 years ago it’s to much your emotions just brake down what other band or music has such power there is no words but only incredible inconceivable how they came back like a meteor bang it’s stunning we really needed this ABBA forever

When I heard this sing for the first time, it also gave me goose flesh. I got tears in my eyes. It made me happy to hear the typical ABBA sound. A bit of Dancing Queen (piano start); sound of The day before you came. A song you just can't sitt still and listen to. It makes me want to dance.
It's obvious the song is about their ABBAtar show. And the question, if they will be accepted by their fans.
Well, I accept them for sure and a big welcome to this winderful catchy song.

But what I love the most is that my absolute favorite band is back!!! And, yes, I'm 30 years old and never thought this would actually be possible and I cried like a baby listening to these two songs and I can't wait for the whole album.. I was not prepared for how good this show was and spent the first two numbers crying like a baby! It is incredible, it is emotional and it is extremely seamless. In my opinion it was well worth the high ticket price and I don’t think there is anything else that rivals this masterpiece. Without 1 hint of racism or leftist sentiments!!! Just pure music that produces PURE JOY !!! If you liked ABBA before, this new music will make You fall in love with them all over again !! And Again !! And Again !!! As always, the production is just outstanding; how they join the voices & instruments in a symphony of sound & beat !!!! WONDERFUL !! This comeback is like a Godsend to many of us who have benn waiting, & longing deep within our souls for the return of ABBA !!!!! It does create joy, happiness, at the same time is a sad memory of so many things left unfulfilled for many of us . It's so inspiring & uplifting! This track is devastatingly good. On every level, classic ABBA; the melodies, the lyric and, of course, those harmonies. This track will be regarded as one of their all time best. The emotion conveyed by that voice just bares the soul and leaves it at the mercy of the pathos. And it simply pierces the heart. Bravo. Bravo indeed. Brilliant.
