  • This is HUGE news! I cant believe what I am seeing! ABBA is reuniting after 40 years! Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid are BACK with a brand new album containing 10 new songs!
    2 of the songs are already released on Spotify and they are BREATHTAKING!
    1) I still have faith in you
    2) Don't shut me down
    This is a historical moment in the history of music. A moment, many thought would NEVER come, but it did!
    ABBA is one of the most famous bands in history, and here they are again. They will perform a pre recorded LIVE show in London, in an arena, built only for that purpose, where all ABBA members have done the motion capture for the performance, for 5 weeks, and then been de-aged to look like its 1979 again!
    This is MY reaction to the news.

    Makes me tear up.. This is my whole childhood in new clothes....don't forget they are 70plus years now... New record in november... This are people who everyone is sickly rich allready ... They are not doing this for money.. They doing this for themself, the fans, and for the love they still feel for each other... As a Swede this is very emotional.. They are older but they still have that magic left...To come back after 39 years and do it at this level and still touching hearts is nothing else than amazing.... When human music history is concluded... ABBA will allways be mentioned...

    Im 56 Years Old, loved this band since I first heard Ferando hitting number 1 in the UK on the radio in March 1976. When they split in 1982 it took a lot of time to accept that. However theyve all recorded as solo artists and the boys have done their musicials and Benny has his own orkester which Ive followed. It was an uneasy feeling in 2018 when they announced they would record two new songs for this new hologram stage show they were working on. Then their were technical difficulties, then the Pandemic struck but nothing on this planet could have prepared me for their announcements last night. Just mind blowing and completely still in state of shock...and you know what, after everything they went through, its a lesson to us all that theyve remained humble human beings, close friends, and can still deliver with a combined age of almost 300. I love this group.

    For many reasons I love ABBA. Apart from the good music they served us while in their prime and still continuing to cater to our listening pleasure today, they are very classy individually. They have refused individually to disclose the reasons for their divorces and you will never hear ABBA trashing their ex-es, using curse words or displaying their wealth to the public, something pop stars of today need to borrow a leaf from.
    This is true loyalty and humility. ...

    You’re right - people should see this as an opportunity. ABBA don’t want to go out there touring, singing night after night for weeks, months at their age. Instead they’ve given us the nearest thing possible by capturing their real selfs (de-aged of course!) and in 100 years from now when ABBA are gone and when we’re all gone, the world will still be listening to their music and incredibly, still going to see them in concert! That’s a bit freaky but also more than a bit fantastic. And I have to say those digital recreations look way way better than I ever expected or even hoped for. I hope that in the future there’ll be ways to enhance the original abbatars as technology gets better and better. They said the set list will be 22 songs but I wonder, has anybody heard if they captured more (all!!) songs from their original period that could be added/changed for future concerts versions?

      @GivenToe  Před 2 lety

      No and I understand them. But as you say, its going to look amazing and can be improbed while technology evolves 😍 I have no idea how many songs they captured. Its gonna be a surprise I guess 😁🔥🙏🏻

    "There's something about ABBA, I don't know what it is?" ... Honestly, too bad you had not experienced and lived through their phenomenal 70's heyday. I'm a Canadian boy, I fell in love with ABBA in 1976 while riding in the tractor with my brother as he worked the grain field, ABBA's Greatest Hits playing on cassette, their music so rich and catchy with amazing instrumentals, it so thrilled me, made my heart burst and burnt into my brain, only song we skipped over was Nina Pretty Ballerina, lol. It was such a different time and place musically, sooo many amazingly talented acts, music was everywhere within culture and enjoyed over a much wider spectrum of folks as compared to today's narrow range rap dominated genre. Could pretty well always count on ABBA for a dependable catchy hit that lingered in radio play and an entire album of ear tickling gems!

    I watched the "Little Things" Christmas video this morning for the first time. I was predisposed to like it since I like the song from 'Voyage' and am a retired school teacher. It was different, I suppose, than what I anticipated, but charming and appealing. On second view a little later, I was impressed with the notion that it takes someone with a vision to get the ball rolling, as dramatized by the bespectacled girl inspiring her classmates with her vision. IKEA has been running a TV commercial in Canada recently with the closing message, 'Imagine the possibilities." As Evie Tornquist once sang, "It only takes a spark to get the fire going." Likewise ABBA's Christmas video conveys a message within a charming little story. I like it.

    The Voyage Concert is a celebration of European skill and technical brilliance. The UK was chosen as a venue because of its central location and of course ease of access for the British and Swedish technical wizards. i doubt there is anywhere else on earth that could have created this show. We should all be applauding the fact that ABBA are giving themselves immortality with this idea. They and their music will somehow outlive all of us. That is an incredible feat, one not even The Beatles or Queen have achieved.

    An exercise on perspective. Take the year when you were 10 years old, and look back 40 years from that point.. For example, if you were 10 in 1970, then 1930 would be 40 years.. 1980-1940, etc.. It is inconceivable that a 10 yr old in 1980 would have any semblance of awareness of what the world of entertainment was like in 1940, the technology gap was relatively large. The idea that an enormously successful band or singer could bridge 40 years from 1930-1970, or 1940-1980 in a similar manner to what ABBA is exploring now is unfathomable. If you look at 1960-2000, you could start to come up with names, but most of the popular groups have forged on, like the Stones, or Moody Blues, they haven't disappeared for 40 years before deciding to reunite, or they have lost several of their band members. ABBA is rather unique in this way, and thankfully they embraced the idea of creating new music.
