Best album of last 10 years with James Dean Bradfield Even in Exile close second, The Waterboys , Black Pumas, The Villagers last album etc There is so much beautifu musicl still being created but unfortunately it ' s not mainstream so it''s not played on the radio.

      @@eroy66 Those bands you talk about are not mainstream because they didn't produce MAGIC like this. I studied as a musician and I can tell you it has always been this way that the greatest music gets acknowledged and then transcends time. That's why the Beatles are still so popular and this goes back through the centuries. We still listen to Wagner, Mozart, Bach, Debussy and on and on. Music like this never goes away yet all the bands you mention absolutely will. It's the way it is.

    I don’t know if other people feel this but I feel I’ve got my childhood back and I’m in the very best moments of the late 70s/early 80s and it’s very emotional. The first track is so very bittersweet and tugs at the heart, the second tells a hopeful story but is so upbeat and just joyous. I’ve cried way too much but they’re all tears of joy. Just an amazing, not comeback but continuation of the ABBA legend.

      It's truly incredible how ABBA hasn't skipped a beat. You could tell me that this was produced 40 years ago, and I wouldn't doubt you. What brings me joy is how dynamic it sounds. When music is that complex and layered, I find it so much more soulful. It strikes me at my core with its raw beauty.

    I've always thought the real tragedy of the breakup is that - The guy's never found singers who interpreted their work so well. And the girls have never found songwriters that could write songs so tailor made for them. When their working together there is a synergy or magic or whatever you want to call it - ABBA. Well done Agnetha. Well done Bjorn. Well done Benny. Well done Anni-Frid. Well done ABBA. You've just proved again no other band even comes close.

      Björn and Benny have been very active throughout all these years, producing tons of good songs. Two muscials (Chess and "Kristina från Duvemåla"), folktunes (for example: czcams.com/video/B6ITCSkf9iQ/video.html), Benny wrote this wonderful tune for a Swedish popband: czcams.com/video/8iv5N8vuydY/video.html and then several hits (in Swedish though) for Benny´s own band (Björn wrote the lyrics BAO) with a fantastic singer, Helen Sjöholm.

      @@mattias5157 Agreed, but the point being made is that there's not been any singer able to interpret their songs the way Frida and Agneta do, and there's not been any songwriters able to write songs for them to be interpreted this way. I completely agree with this. It there had been the music they have all put out without each other would be as widespread as ABBAs music, and not one single song has. Not because they haven't been writing as good songs or recording as good songs, but because there is an every dynamic created when they all come together. Just as with all successful bands.

    I cried. I had no idea I was crying. Fabulous. A register lower but still ABBA. I ordered everything! Good job. The lyrics are up lifting for me, not sad. They bring me to tears in a good way. Frida's low register is lower, as is Agnetha's. But they have depth with the maturity. Bjorn and Benny created masterpieces of emotions. True for each of them and true for us. And those ABBAtars are breathtaking. Listening live was fabulous and listening to several interviews with B&B was insightful. What a great moment. Counting the days till Nov 5th.

    Both songs are absolute perfection. I Still Have Faith In You is written by Bjorn in respect of how the group still feel about each other as humans and musicians. 'Dont Shut Me Down' is also pretty autobiographical. Its about Agnetha's return to ABBA, a sort of saying goodbye to her human form and becoming an ABBAtar. Extremely clever lyrics from Bjorn. Bennys production values and musicianship is perfect for whatever genre he's dabbling in but when these four work together, theres magic.Frida voice on I Still Have Faith is pristine and once those girls start harmonising, it blows my mind. These songs are as unique as every other song they have ever done. I am so proud of these 4 humble, non-egotistical human beings.I should also add well done Dereck, you're really starting to identify Agnetha and Fridas voices now :)

    I was afraid Frida would be rusty at 75 after decades out of the business and the public eye... but by "I see it now" it was clear - she sounds better than ever. There's a warmth and sincerity that was lacking back in the day and was the reason why Agnetha was always the go-to for the ballads. Between the two big never-gonna-happen-reunions this year (the other being Friends of course), this one made it worth the wait by actually going forward instead of only looking back. Respect!

    • @graphiquejack
      @graphiquejack Před 2 lety +6

      I would say that Agnetha is a brilliant storyteller for sure, but Frida’s performance in Like An Angel and When All is Said and Done prove she also could break your heart with her beautiful emotive voice. Her life has been so tragic that it’s audible in her voice now. I hear a real gravitas and pathos now. Also check out her recording of The Sun Will Shine Again, which was written for her after her daughter and husband both died tragically within the span of a year.

    • @lounolastname4477
      @lounolastname4477 Před 2 lety +3

      @ididots - Frida hasn’t been decades out of the business and the public eye. She hasn’t been overly prominent lately since 2004 she sung live on stage several times with the late, great Jon Lord (Deep Purple) with a song he wrote for her called The Sun Will Shine again. But she recorded a Spanish version of Andante, Andante with Arturo Sandoval in 2018 and she sounds just as beautiful and perfect as ever. Frida still has perfect pitch, people with perfect pitch hit each note dead centre of the key spot, sometimes that can then lose some of the “warmth” you talk about

    YES! ABBA is back and this priceless sound is with real instruments, not computer generated music from a laptop and open source software! No other band, group, artist, etc has had such an influence upon millions and millions of people worldwide like ABBA has. Even those who are not fans, still enjoy an ABBA song when it's played in a movie. Their music brings such a positive uplifting emotional response to everyone, even with their sad lyrics, people get tears of joy. With the way things are today and all of the negativity no matter what direction you turn, their timing is impeccable! #ABBAisback is definitely what the world so badly needed!! In my humble opinion, ABBA has surpassed the Beatles as the all time greatest band ever. Longtime loyal fans are flooded with emotions and a sigh of relief from constantly wondering "will they ever get back together again?" And, it's safe to say ABBA will bridge the gap and bring on a new era of fans from the younger generation of people that are finally getting to experience them more than just via a video. If I was able to have the chance to say something directly to the members of ABBA, it would be "Not just thank you for the music, but thank you for giving us MORE music!"

We know they can still sing yet physically it's probably too gruelling for them, yes, maybe. Anyhow, they have done this & it's beyond belief. Any music fan will love this even if they aren't an ABBA fan. The sound just grabs u & takes u to a different realm. God bless them all & thank you for the music ABBA.

    A more than respectable comeback, considering it's been nearly 40 years since their last record .. Looking forward very much to their new album .. Should be wonderful listening !

    ABBA is clearly the best group that has ever existed. Love their music. I was 11 years old when they broke through with waterloo in 1974. They are clearly the world's best group ever on our planet. Their music brings many fond childhood memories to life. Hugs from Sweden

    I love that they let the ladies age with their vocals. It makes the song mean more. BRAVO

    They have been and still are the most professional band of all time. Compositions, Arrangements, Vocals, Lyrics, they are singing in five languages, the Spanish versions of the new songs have already been released.

    Don't shut me down: First time I heard this new masterpiece, particularly Agnetha's wonderful voice again, I literally thought for one minute: "Oh my God I have been time transferred back to the year 1976!" They all sound just a fantastic as in the seventies. Soo nice. What a Christmas gift from ABBA to all of us :) We are all very grateful to ABBA. And thank you Dereck for your always very nice comments to ABBA's melodies

    Being of Swedish heritage (parents both born in Sweden), it’s that accent that has always made ABBA just SO special to me! And hearing it now with their older voices, it’s even more so! 🥰🇸🇪

    Both new songs are great in their own rights:
    1. I Still Have Faith in You is malancholic, it's the type of song which grows in you as you listen to it more and more often.
    2. Don't Shut Me Down is more upbeat and dancy, the type which you like straight away.
    Conclusion- Both are great and have their own strengths. Just enjoy them as they are

    So very fabulous! I felt like I did in my 20s when ABBA was last performing. Amazing music. So rich, lyrical, and beautiful. Happy disco-inspired and that ballad. I look forward to the album. I also applaud the high technical future virtual stage show with holographic images. Will be superb!

    I think what's so profound about these songs and ABBA itself is that they sort of give us a glimpse of a lifetime coming into full circle, something most of us on CZcams will not probably experience for many more decades. And something very few, if any, groups of the past have either lived long enough or stayed together long enough to revelate on.
