Modern pop cannot hold a candle to this. There's a story, melody, arrangement and sheer talent everywhere in this song.
Absolutely truueee 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love it
So glad and grateful for the younger generation that is discovering ABBA!
I find almost all of ABBA`s songs/lyrics are personal. Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Annifrid are all humble, nice,
honest and decent human beings; down to earth people.
They are just like anybody else, with all of their flaws,
traumas, embarrassments, difficulties etc. They know that, and they do not put
themselves over anybody else. In addition, they are even generous with sharing
those painful experiences with us, so that we have the opportunity to feel our
own pain - and heal it. They also share their joy and happiness with us; all their
precious feelings. That is why their music touches all of us, young as old and
everyone in between. That makes their music so GREAT, and SPECIAL. I think. What do you think?
In addition, all about ABBA is natural. They could easily have artificially “fixed” the ladies “older” voices
and other things, but they refrained from doing so. Their music it is genuine right through
As far as I know, no other band is doing the same today; the temptation is too big to fix
almost everything to perfection. ABBAs music is therefore REAL MUSIC. Today it
is unusual, which makes them so BIG!
And harmonies like no one else can.
I think that they were more surprised by their success than anyone else ! I just love them, however different we are, we can relate to the music. And that isn't an easy thing to do
This is what singing without autotune sounds like. Wonderful.
How many bands take a 40 year pause, then come back like they never left? Still sounding great and still Make that ABBA sound in the music that we know. Make a tour with avatars (ABBAtars) and build a freaking arena for that purpose. AND they are all over 70 years old. ABBA of course. Damn I love this band and their music.
'Ahhh, we just took a shot break!'
Yes, after 40 years, their voices have aged and matured, but the magic is still there. Their music just uplifts all, and is so universal.
No the voices are still there!!!
The higher register is still the same. The lower register has matured but for the better.
@@samuelm.5752 ..He said a step lower.
@@billybob042665 They don't use Autotone at all!!!! Like everybody else!!! They don't fake!!!!!!
@@billybob042665 Yes they are!!!
They are from 71 to 76 years of age now, and they still deliver. Great songs, real ABBA music. ABBA is timeless!
I’ve never heard two voices blend so well together. One voice melts into the other.
Try too listening OG3NE 3 sisters from the Netherlands who can sing as one in close harmony
The 3rd voice 😍 that abba tone
@@gemini1100 Yes, they were my favourite in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
@@gemini1100 .. Not even close to Agnetha and Frida.
They are the umami of singing! ❤️🤩
ABBA absolutely deserves their crown. even after 40 yrs.
Thanks for the ABBA. Benny said the girls came to the studio and he played the songs on piano for them. They immediately started working out the harmonies and hooks. Then he said when they sang together out came ABBA. Bjorn said how lucky the guy's were to have them again. They bring a professional and a maturity breath of knowledge that's unmatched and he'd forgotten. You don't have to worry about it, you give them the song and they deliver. Nice to hear the guys praise them. Both girls deserve more love than we can ever give them. And it's really nice to see everything seems happy again in ABBALAND.
MAGICAL!!!
The whole concept of their come back is so brilliant. The Voyage, the Abbatars, the arena they are building, the lyrics that have so many layers. And, of course, the sound of their voices, the harmonies. Absolutely fantastic. The timing could not be any better. This is what we needed. And to know there`s an album coming..
As an Abba-fan since the 70`s, I can hardly believe this is happening.
I am a die hard metal fan, and yes I like ABBA! Such great harmonies and musicianship. Welcome back.
Same here!
ABBA transcend all genres. A great man once said, if you don't like ABBA, you have no soul.
I'm Bowie and Roxy Music, but ABBA?
Perfect Pop Music!
Me also. Is that 'sad but true?' 🤣🤣
Metalhead here as well. I love ABBA.
You know Abba are now immortalized when they created Abbatars. Love it and to think they are in their 70's.s
And it’s a pity that no one comments on these high backing vocals at the start of the second chorus of Don‘t Shut Me Down. It’s incredible how two ladies in their seventies can still sound so young. How do they do that?
Sheer unadulterated talent
DSP?
Shhh...it's magic!
Young at heart.
Sound like they did in 70s
I rest my case that Abba really is the best pop band in the world!!! You’re never going to hear voices this great again
As a swede we get a lot of music from Benny and Björn, (Du är min man with Bennys orkester and Helen Sjöholm you hear almost everyday on the radio) but to hear the girls again. I just love it. I'm so happy they´re back.
Is that true Abba is the second export commodity from Sweden?
Agnetha has had albums as well. “A” is great. Check it out if you haven’t
@@filosofishinchan6304 It was, in the late seventies. But music, per se, is one of Sweden’s main exports. Max Martin just had his 25th billboard #1 in the USA. He’s a song writer/producer though, lets other people (Britney, Back Street Boys, Pink, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, the Weeknd, Adele, etc) do the singing, so he is not that well known to the masses.
I am just irrationally overjoyed to see the present-day studio clips inserted in the Don't Shut Me Down video. To see the four members of ABBA together in the studio as they are today is one of the things I hardly dared hope for. I think it was risky for them to go before the public eye again after all these years but I'm so happy that they did.
This is the best I have heard in 40 years.Didnt know what to expect then this.Unbelievable. Makes tears of joy.Thumbs up!
Frida 75 years mezzo soprano and Agneta soprano 71 years still sings lead. ..Björn and Benny still makes and play amazing music.. They are all 70+ and still do music that is pure magic.. And how many can take a 39 years break and come back like this..
Now? Agnetha mezzosopran, frida alt. Old age. Voices a much lower.
@@tombouu yes age often lower the voice.. I've gone from tenor to second tenor to baryton.. Offcourse lesser training and lesser singing also counts in..
@@jonnyberggren4598 Their voice has changed, it has lowered, and you have to accept that. This is perfectly normal at their age. But they can still sing beautifully. You can hear very clearly that both ladies sing much lower.
It’s impossible not to dance to ABBA and find yourself humming the songs later. The new ones are just as infectious as the old classics. And I enjoyed the post-credits bonus! 👍
Something deeply satisfying about having ABBA back in the Musical World
I've been an ABBA fan for more years than I can remember. I was so pleased knowing they were coming out with something new.
Oh my God. The feels 😭😭💖💖 Don't we all just need this right now more than ever. Guys, ABBA is back!!
*screams*
Both these new songs take a few listens but grow on you rapidly. They are beautiful songs by this legendary band that brings out emotions in all their fans and happiness to the world at a time when it’s really needed.
The magic is still there - unbelievable! I remember it like yesterday that I have seen them live in 1978.... ❤❤❤
Frida is the best ever! And classy and beautiful too
I Still Have Faith In You is a masterpiece. I have always loved Frida's voice, and it has matured magnificently. Love it !
ABBA rules! I'm very lucky to have experienced an ABBA comeback in my life
I can't hardly believe they are back!! I remembered trying to make a mix tape off the radio and calling the radio station repeatedly requesting them!!! This was when cassette decks were a rarity and the tapes ridiculously expensive!!! Yes...I'm old as dirt, and twice as ugly...but I own it...lol. So refreshing starting my morning over a cup of tea with you!!! Love you!!!!
Their new songs are melancholy, sensational, magical and completely unreal wonderful. I myself am 60 years old and have been there from the beginning. They were unique when they made an impact and that keeps them. I still have all their LP and cassettes at my old turntable from that time. Legends never stop singing. ABBA has conquered the world again!! Imagine if everyone could preserve this warm feeling we feel at this moment and take it with us in our harsh world. Greetings from Sweden!
Two beautiful records, they still have the magic ♥
Just like that ,40 years later ABBA make current music sound like synchronised noise and make the world and its people feel and become possessed by TRUE MUSIC AND SONG ,waves of emotion and uncontrollable reactions, that's how you do it, they are truly supernatural and beautiful, thankyou ABBA.
"They haven't changed, but in a good way". Indeed! Part of me worries that the reason I'm here -- searching CZcams to find folk genuinely sharing my enjoyment of the new music -- is simply nostalgia. I'm trying to recapture my distant hormonal teenage self and all the hope and enthusiasm that goes with being young; with them being young too; with the world being a simpler place with only homework, nuclear holocaust and the miners' strike to worry about.
But the lyrics to 'I Still Have Faith In You' grab that nostalgia, say "come on in, put your feet up, you'll fit right in!" and then proceed to wring your emotions dry. They wring /my/ emotions dry anyway... or at least try to, which explains the snotty nose and dust in my eye.
I wasn't so taken with 'Don't Shut Me Down' at first... when the music switches up I got distracted by the synthy sax sound which sounds a bit... well, I guess it harks back to simpler musical times too. But the vocals, lyrics and tempo soon settled my doubts. I'm also inclined to think that the ex-lover up on the second floor isn't necessarily a partner, or -- symbolically -- the rest of the band, it's us, the audience. The nerves they must have felt before embarking on this epic (feels epic right now!) return seem reflected in both songs.
Anyway, I'm waffling digital noise into the internet again about a band I have no claim to being a huge fan of. I'm no more a fan of Abba than I am of granite or limestone... they are simply part -- a wonderful, enriching, unique part -- of the cultural bedrock that's been there all my life. And the only thing more shocking than how good these tracks are is that I'm sat her gushing on CZcams over bloomin' reaction videos when I should be doing a hundred other things!
I need to have a word with myself. But not until I've pre-ordered the CD, ok? They don't need the money, but I need to indicate how grateful I am.
PS. Thanks for a good reaction video as well. Says the man who used to wonder what the point of reaction videos was. :-)
Agree, the lyrics in in both songs are actually directed to us, their fans. They're really asking us, "do I [still] have it in me", and then telling us that they have faith in us, hoping that we will still appreciate them and their music. Agneta sings that she has changed and matured, and notices that the hall (we, the fans) still looks the same, which she likes. She wonders if we'll ask her to come in, will we accept their comeback. Don't shut me down. Both songs are about themselves, their comeback after 39 years, and their hopes of our acceptance and appreciation.
A Shot towards my heart. And they hit me hard. Again. Like 1977. 1979. 1982........
Thank you for the music,
thanks for all the joy they're bringing 🎶💕💕✨
I love the new songs so much! I’ve literally been listening to them on repeat! And the new album drops November 5th and since my birthday is the 3rd, best birthday present ever!!!
Brings me back to Chiquitita. They sound the same. Totally overwhelmed at seeing them back.
For us born in the 60:s (-68) this is just fantastic. My life extended at least 20 years :-) ABBA, love them
I'm a ABBA fan for as long i can remember, these new songs really threw me off my feet, after so long they still can get to my inner me. The lyrics, the music, they had and still have something special. Goosebumps, feel the music really within you, tears in your eyes, then you know you are listening to real music. Thank you Rebecca, i know you feel the same, i can see it and even that moves me, seeing somebody else enjoining their music 💖💖🎶🎶👌👌
ABBA's great thing was "if something stays the same, something else changes." The key change in the second chorus, plus coming in earlier than the first chorus in "I'm not the one you knew,"
They do this trick in I Stil Believe In You also
Also! What is really weird, Agnetha ends with the word ‘now’, and in her own song: The One Who loves You Now, she ends on the word ‘now’ also, and it is exactly the same! It’s as if it was sampled!
I think Money, Money, Money is the best example.
@@bobtrouper Wow, you really pay detail attention, I know the word " Now " but couldn't pick up which song she has. Good Catch.
They can't make melodies today, but ABBA can!!!!
Imagine if they entered the Eurovision Contest for Sweden next year? That would be awesome!
They would win, easy.
The wonderful abba are back and very much needed they have truly blessed our lives. Abba take a bow it's much deserved.
Hey, there was in interview with Agnetha Fältskog on radio today, where she said she had been watching reaction videos of their new songs. She said she found it difficult to grasp how people from all around the world was so moved by their new music. So perhaps she has watch your video!
"For i know i hear a bitterseet song, in the memories we share", just a beautiful lyric from a beautiful song.
I never thought I would see this reunion happen, I grew up with ABBA, one of my favourite bands of all time!
Finally an actual professional reacting to these brilliant songs. You know what you’re talking about. I’m not a vocal expert but I am one of their original era fans and we actually filmed ourselves watching the premieres of these songs. So a lot came as surprises. Extracts are on my channel. Just one thing, fans, listeners in UK, please keep streaming these songs as they might not survive the streaming algorithms this coming week.! Thank you..
Their voices has aged very well
There voices haven't changed at all!!!
@@agnetamalmqvist9075 I’ve got to say I’m glad

Even though I never listened to ABBA alot, I've listened enough to recognise the beauty in what they create. That's part of the reason I play Don't Shut Me Down and can't help but smile, because every part of that song just resonates happiness and hope. It just brings me to a happier place
Absolutely amazed by their comeback. Cannot wait for their album and virtual concert. So amazing even 40 years later. Boyhood crush on Benny....loved the beard he is like a teddy bear 🐻 🧸!
Get in line!!!!
Amazing voices of Legends! A looot of people/vocal trainer's can reproduce octaves/tones but just a few people every 30-40Years have this particular nuance and are born with this angelic voice! Thank you ABBA!
FINALLY! They still sound fantastic after 40 years!
One of my favourite groups ABBA, Still sound as good as in the 70s
As someone who grew up with ABBA's music, it's really cool to watch significantly younger people react to this new music. It's incredible to witness how emotional it can be even for people who weren't yet around during their first go-round. Their sound and their story seems timeless and universal. Good music, beautiful harmonies and great singing voices...they transcend time and even genre.
The biggest moment in music history for the last decades. Love your passion for music. You can hear music but you can also feel it. That's what Abba give us since they started in rhe early 70s.
This is so fantastic and unbelievable : ABBA are back ! I love their music since i was a kid. Beautiful reaction, greets from germany. 😍😘
Just imagine, my 16 y/o son told me about these two new songs of Abba. I told him, really?! 😄 I couldn't believe it! They are back!
The first their video, i had tears. There are lots of reasons. There should be.
A grown man with a beard;I cried
Rebecca doing an ABBA cover would be spectacular.
On it
@@rva cute. Hello from Argentina
I agree Bec would absolutely do an Amazing version.
@@rva I have a bigger challenge for you- Not just an ABBA cover- but an ABBA in Spanish cover. I would really like an analysis of the degree of difficulty getting emotion across as well as the notes when singing pop in another language. czcams.com/video/do1EGAs_UNQ/video.html
I suggest Eagle🦅or Fernando 😍
I actually never saw this day coming. They fooled us all. Björn and Benny have always said "never ever" to a reunion.
Il faut juste apprécier et profiter de ce retour fabuleux de ABBA !! Merci Merci et Merci
I still keep the ABBA records I used to listen to when I was a teenager, I´m 55 now and I´m happy to listen to their new songs.

After 40 years, ABBA reignites the magic. The dream is still alive.
"I STILL HAVE FAITH IN YOU" - the new ABBA anthem. PLATINUM. Opened on U.S. charts at #9.
"DON'T SHUT ME DOWN" - Everyone back to the dance floor! Also PLATINUM. Opened on U.S. charts at #11.
Genius lyrics, classic vocals, melody, and instrumentals - iconic ABBA. Imagine the album "Voyage" with eight more originals !
Thanks, Rebecca, for the great reactions. And, from a member of the original generation that helped propel ABBA to global stardom, thank you too for being a member of the next generation to carry ABBA forward.
For the love of music, and ABBA - Peace.
... very professional feedback. Thank you. And yes, it is so good that ABBA is back with two wonderful songs.
i love the music. i love your comments and the professional analysing of quality music
Nice reaction.
I was crying when I first heard ABBA's new songs. And I get the feeling that there might be either a 3rd Mamma Mia sequel, or a musical movie about ABBA success like they did for Queen and Elton John, in the works after this.
I'm 34 and I started getting tears listening to these songs.. don't know why because I usually listen to metal or house
“I Still Have Faith in You” gives me STRONG Karen Carpenter vibes which, you know, my heart.
Both of these songs make me so happy.
Good evening Rebecca, I hope you are doing well. Love ABBA, as a street musician, I perform a lot of their stuff. Thanks for another great review.
Yes, they still have it in them! Can’t stop listening to these!!!
I'm from Brazil. I really like your reviews about the songs. You always bring quality music to your channel. I love you and your quiet and smooth way of analyzing each song. Your fan of Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.
Thanks so much 🙏
One factor that makes ABBA so hard to copy is, I believe, their (especially Benny Andersson´s) background in the Swedish very melodious, harmonious and melancholy folk music. They were bathed in that since a young age. It shines through in everything they do. Nice reaction!
There is more wonderful Swedish music though. Please react to Dirty Loops and beautiful Laleh!
Hello Rebecca. Abba? Abba! My youth. My memories. 🥺 Where did the good times go?
They are still here! And Abba too! How great is this?💥❤💥
Hugs from Hannover!
Daughters bought us 2 tickest to ABBA Voyage on 12th January 2023. AMAZING!!!!!
Nobody can tell me that 30 year old ABBA persons weren't singing on the stage in front of me.
Of course they were projections, but these were very carefully coordinated with the stage lighting, so that your brain yells "3D" at you. It is an astonishing show, and I highy recommend it to anyone.
Just a word of warning though. You are told before the show starts, that photogrphy of any kind is not allowed. There are marshalls, and if you're seen with a phone, or some such, you are asked to show your phone gallery. If there are any pictures
or videos of the show, you are asked to leave. If not, you can saty, but the phone goes off.
I was hoping you'd react to these videos! Having ABBA back is so awesome, and these aren't the only two songs they came out with. The new album has ten, including a Christmas song!
Where can I get this new album? Is it available for purchase?
@@rickyharper9567 It'll be out November 5.
Greatest Pop group ever.
They loved performing but I watched a documentary where, when asked if they'd consider touring and it was a Hard NO by all four when they took a vote. I kinda like the digital vibes. looking good... Love the Grecian vibes. xx
I always find myself getting so emotional when listening to ABBA.
The shivers.....that's the perfect way to describe my own reaction to these songs. I literally got goosebumps while listening to the rich layering of voices and sound. Love ABBA!
It is all about they're relationship with each other and with fans. These two songs are the intro to a 10 song album, that give us fans a true love for their pain. They have forgiven and made progress. Fans should never shut them down. And this will be the biggest album of 2021/2022. #prediction
Those glasses are perfect on you. And it is great to hear Agnetha after so many years of silence. Emotional and deep voice that deserves always to be in the light🙏
The deep voice is Anni-Frid :)
When I was born in the early 70s,ABBA reigned my life♥️ and I hummed it all along my way in 45 plus years, when I die I know nostalgic songs will still seek me♥️.I know most of their songs by heart and AGATHA BJORN BENNY ANIFRIDA have been part of my soul and my thirst for music.♥️....we are so lucky to have been in their genre🥰GOD BLESS ABBA♥️
Ahhh yes, you've managed once again to put a smile on my face. First saw them in the late 70's, and after all this time their voices are still sooooo good.

Absolutely the best review of this song I've heard!Smashing!
I was born in 72 when they started. It was a sad thing in my household when Agnetha and Bjørn divorced. Remember it well as an eight year old. ABBA has always been around, but when they did not do a reunion in 92-93 when they were Huge again with the Gold albums nobody thought they would make new Music.. Now. 30:years later it finally happens. Grateful. They will follow up voyage with another album in 2024-2025.
I'm old enough to remember my parents buying and playing ABBA LP:s, I loved it. This year just got a little better...
🇬🇧 ABBASOLUTELY terrific, they definitely still have it! 🙀
Its so clear and full of Harmonie, thats so beautyfull. After 40 Years, Concratulation. 👍👍
This is what song writing really is. Music today might be catchy but it's soulless and it's not really song writing anymore. I might sound like a narrow minded and "old" person, but honestly it's true, how can you deny it?
thank you Rebecca! love your professional commentary with a lot of heart and soul and love and emotion, thank you!
Love ABBA. This was awesome.
Love the songs ( particularly Don't Shut me Down ) .. Love ABBA .. Loved your reaction .. and finally, I love your great sense of humour and personality .. You're gorgeous ! .. Thanks heaps for this .. Wayne
I always remember Abba week was a very difficult one for the contestants in X Factor’s heyday. Those songs are deceptively hard to sing
They are BACK! It is out of this world how much energy and joy and melancholy this "dancing queen piano" and these blending voices can give. I am completely shaken up and tears are streaming trough my whole being. It is wonderful to be SO alive again. Thank you Rrrrrrebecca for reacting almost exactly like I did to this unexpected surprise. Thank you for your wit, your rhythm, your quicksilver fluid mind and.... of course your stolen glances in the camera that work so pure but seductive as well. Enjoy..kind greetings from Amsterdam.
The album Voyage due out in November will have 10 songs counting "I still have faith in you" and "Don't shut me down"
Your heartfelt, ernergetic and witty reaction is priceless. I also see a burgeoning actress in you, something of a Lisa Kudrow at her best ^^^Take care.
They are one of a kind and I love the new songs.
First time here.Thank you for this.I enjoyed your reaction so much.Everything you commented was on point and without prejudice. You said something like "Abba songs may sound easy, but try to sing them".Tottally true.Their magical complication is so detailfully crafted that even BENNY and BJORN had forgotten their ingrendients. In the making of the theatrical "Mamma mia"they revealed they had to go back to the original tapes to remember again what excactly they had put in.i also liked your charming facial and vocal expressiveness.Im pretty sure you could have also been a great actress, and im honest.Have a nice day.
