The older I have become the more I appreciate ABBA and their timeless music.
I have an eclectic taste in music, used to be a big Bowie and Floyd fan back in the day but loved the 80's new-wave and synth as well but there is something joyful and innocent about ABBA that seems to have been missing for a long time in music.
They were basically the antithesis of today's mainstream corporate controlled autotuned mass production depression factory.
(I know there is still good music and talent out there)

ABBA are master storytellers which is what draws you in. One of the most welcome returns to music in many years, Welcome Back ABBA. BTW the four members are Annifrid, Benny, Bjorn & Agnetha and It's Agnetha on lead vocals in both verses. Remember the classics .. Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All, Mamma Mia .. Very much loved group all over the world.

Norwegian ABBA fan since '72. ABBAcules abound in Scandinavian blood. It's speaks to a way of life and you just felt it. Made me smile to see how happy it made you. The ABBA groove is completely infectious and exactly what we need in the world now. My recommendation is to add SOS to your songlist. There are a lot of great ABBA songs, but that is a foundational masterpiece. If you know it, you will gain a deeper appreciation for ABBA. Everyone loves ABBA, even Sid Vicious did. SOS has had an enormous influence on music including the punk movement in England. Don't Shut Me Down, in my opinion, is a tribute to their album Voulez Vous. If you like the joy of this sound, give that one a spin at 11 with the windows down. Angel Eyes, Kisses of Fire, As Good As New. Super high music with lyrics relating to normal people working normal jobs. Glad to have you on board at this stage of the Voyage!!

That was awesome. I know a lot of my metal friends enjoy ABBA, it used to be secretly... now they don't care. There actually have been full metal albums dedicated to this band, I think the reason is because of the musicality of their songs and how complex yet simple they sound. Their back catalog is incredible and I think they wanted to do this last album before they died, keep in mind they are all in their 70s. They are well respected by musicians of all stripes and it is great to see new generations learning about their music.

I like 9 songs very much to a point where I play them all the time and 1 song I play on occasion called "little things". It's a 10 track album. 5 are slower paced with some having rock elements into them and 5 are up beat dance songs. If you appreciate songs that focuses on story telling along with the layers of instruments onto of there voices, then you will grow to love the album. Remember when you go into listening to this album, don't expect to get a rehash of the things they did in the past and is more of a more modern take on their past songs. I would rate the album an "A" for its instrumentation and lyrics that brings out the true abba they were once was and still are but into the modern world.

Did You know that some of the biggest ABBA fans are Lemmy (Motorhead), Gene Simmons, Kurt Cobain, John Carpenter (director), singer of Slipknot...I'm 54 now, I am an ABBA fan since 1976. They are like monoliths from Kubirk's movie ''2001: A Space Odyssey'', they can transform your brain and your heart! The big global news of this 21st century for the music world is the return of the legendary Swedish pop group ABBA to the recording studios after more than 35 years (the last was "The day before you came") and the edition of his new songs after 39 years (the last was "Under attack") and a new album after almost 40 years (the last was "The Visitors")
Beyond that these three data are for the Guines Book of records (I believe that No Group or Singer or Artist can come close to these incredible brands), the most remarkable thing is How they returned, with what level of quality And I must say that ABBA overcame all fears, doubts and expectations Their return is shocking and his quality is still valid
    "Don't shut me down"
    it's another surprise from ABBA
A pop song was expected, but there were reservations and fears for what it could be (and here I include doubts to the voices of the girls due to their age) And we find a magnificent work
The beginning is with Agnetha's voice attacking with the pleasant company of the piano. What Agnetha does in that introduction is anthology, exquisite modulating and using different nuances with her mature voice.
Until Benny's signature piano glint (nod to the mega hit "Dancing Queen") and ABBA's typical pop song is with us, with the fans, because the lyrics speak to us.
and Agnetha assumes that decoding of almost four decades and gives us her beautiful voice as the strings grow and lead to a memorable chorus with Frida reliving the historic third voice of ABBA
But it doesn't end there, the second part adds hooks and a xylophone is added to the bells (a nod to the marimba in "Mamma Mía"), and the pre-chorus has more force with Agnetha and Frida and the violins anticipate the elevation to a chorus triumphant final anthology reminiscent of his greatest hits
And it ends with a soft and sweet Agnetha voice and piano melody (nod to "Thank you for the music")
    Thank for your great reaction
and for Your respect to ABBA music
now wey waiting for the new album
and see in next ABBA vídeo
    GOD bless You

@@TheRealMediaMan That was a conscious decision by them (well mainly Benny of coarse, the musical genius). For me they could have been more experimental on this album, considering the fact that they experimented a lot in the their time (so much that they lose some fan base in the end). Compare The visitors or the day before you came with dancing queen or anything else a few years earlier and it is a totally different band. But in the context of their age and history this album seems to fit naturally.

I was 10 when they played "Waterloo" at the Eurovision, what was their start to getting famous i think. Of course a few years later Abba was no longer "cool" and we rather listened to Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Queen, Pink Floyd or whatever while Abba was just "dumb stupid pop" 😄
I find it somehow interesting that in the last years they again got such a hype and now everybody seem to love them. But maybe more just more people grow up and no longer fear to be "uncool" because they like some specific music.
But in case of sweden i still rather listen to something like Metalite 😄🤘🏼

Enjoyed your reaction man ! ...like to see varied reactions from varied music lovers besides the die hard ABBA fans. Observing that discovery of joy in an ABBA song, even though the subject matter may be sad or melancholy ( one of the group's trademarks). Agnetha sings lead, Frida joins on chorus here. From your reaction I think you should consider doing a review of the complete ABBA VOYAGE album. You will be amazed at the diversity of songs that yet still captures that unique ABBA sound. VOYAGE is an amazing comeback album as well as their ninth / final closure album (when the group went their separate ways in 1982 they simply stated they were taking a break from ABBA) 40 years after their previous 1981 album The Visitors.

Some years ago they did a comic video with puppets and the real ABBA had cameo rolls in it. But in the background during the video was some one supposed to be a member of Iron Maiden. The story goes one of the groups member (i dont know which) was a huge ABBA fan. He actually watched the 1979 Whembly concerts from the side of the stage as it would not be cool to be seen in the audience. Artists of all music genres appreciate their genuis. Madonna paid a small fortune to use the melody to Gimme Gimme Gimme on her song Hung Up.
