r/Maliciouscompliance In today's ridiculous Malicious Compliance story, OP's boss demands that he work a 24/7 support phone line, even though his contract specifies that he shouldn't. Well, he maliciously complies and because of company policy he makes an easy $10,000 for about 3 minutes of work! If you like this video, hit the subscribe button for more daily Reddit content!

I saw my aunt drinking (what I now know was wine) something pretty and pink. I wanted to try it, but she told me it wasn't for kids. I tried grabbing at it, we went back and forth, and so she gave in, knowing the results.
The taste was HORRIBLE and she replied with, "Ah, see?? I told you."

The bank was so stupid. All banks should easily be able to handle change orders.
A lot of banks don't do change for people who aren't customers. When I lived in my previous apartment, I needed quarters for the laundry - thank God I live in a place with W/D hookups and will soon be moving to a house. There was a bank near where I worked, not a branch of my bank, where I used to get quarters. Then that branch was bought by another bank who eventually installed a policy to not make change for non-customers.
In the case of the story, they likely wouldn't have made change for someone not authorized on that account, since she went in representing the restaurant, not herself, with a significant amount of cash. They couldn't really know if she was just trying to wash the cash. Whereas when she closed the account to withdraw the funds, she obviously wasn't doing that directly.
In actuality, she should've just asked for the branch manager, which would've given an opportunity to clear things up.
I work for a swiss bank and we are not allowed to change cash, even if they got it from our ATM. And the reason for that is, that the client could be money laundering. As soon as we exchange their dirty money with our clean money, they have successfully laundered their criminal money. ( sorry about any grammatical errors )
Nico Kind wow I would have never knew
@@pickled1ck400 That's not how money laundering works... Not even slightly. Money isn't laundered just because it changes denominations or serial numbers. Just getting it changed at a bank does not even come close to "successfully laundering their criminal money". If I took hundreds of thousands of dollars of drug money to a bank, changed it, then spent it elsewhere, the tax bureau will still have the right to know where the money came from, I will still go to jail if I don't have a good explanation, and "I got it by making change at the bank" does not cut it. Even if your bank does not change cash, this is not the real reason why.
@@Stierguy1 yeah no shit, but if you were a small Drug Dealer would you still go through the whole process of moneylaundering? No, because if the dealer would do that he wouldnt get anything out of it because of all the fees. But if he comes to the Bank with his mittle amount of drug money, and simply trades it with our clean money, he was successful.
And money laundering doesnt always have to be with big amounts of money, there are also a lot of small criminals that cant afford a huge amount of fees.

Back in the early 1990's, when dial-up modems were the shit, a teacher set up the first computer science lab at school. Don't know how he convinced the penny pinchers in charge, but he managed to get 6 of the newest and best computers to network, a printer, modem, dedicated phone line...the whole hog. As it so happens, he got all the delights installed only a few weeks before summer break. At this time very few had a computer, so most were unfamiliar with these newfangled devices.
On the last day the computers were used, the teacher demonstrated THE INTERNET.. After much oooh-ing and aaah-ing over the joys of the internet, the class was over. The teacher then asked one of the students to turn off the computers, while the rest left The kid lived next door to the school, and his mom worked at the school as well, so everyone was used to him hanging out at school after hours. BIG MISTAKE. The kid, being new to computers, thought turning off the monitors shut down the computers as well.
So every computer was still on. Including the one with the modem. That was still connected to some overseas BBS. Over a phone line. That was charged international phone rates. In the 90's. FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS!
Thing is, this computer room didn't have a new sign on the door yet, just the old "Storage" sign. But the substitute cleaners wasn't told about this room, so they ignored it. And the rest of the regular staff went on vacation, so they forgot about it. That's until the first staff returned from vacation and discovered the biggest phone bill they had ever seen. I never got a handle on how much money was involved, but it was enough to freak out the entire school administration, and almost cost the computer teacher his job. He made sure to shut down everything and lock up the computer lab himself every day since that...
This reminds me of a post about a Karen who got mad at it for a slow computer and it turns out she thought she had turned off the computer everyday when she just turned off the monitorâŠ
That guy should've waited until after his bi-weekly billing period so he could charge for 2 weeks on the 24/7 phone.
Nice thought but 24/7 is just that, a week long and rotation is once or twice a year so it wouldn't have been possible.

"What's this?" the boss doctor asked.
"Two weeks of overtime," the nurse replied. After a beat she added, "You "think" I'm kidding...?"
If people took a photo of the SOLD sign and found out that she didn't actually sell the house there could be trouble.

Neighbors (who lived on the other street, not even in one of the apartments on the block we lived in) called some person who you would call if someone idk, spray painted the whole house pink or something, and said we were building an ugly fence to get more privacy. Someone came to our door, asked if that was true, and walked away laughing when we told her. Apparently they also called the cops on us for having a birthday party on the weekend at like 10pm.

The most British thing. Offering guests tea.
I used to ride a bicycle long before I had a car. I have three habits when opening my car door. First, I always look in the rear-view mirror on the door to see what the traffic is like before opening the door at all. Second, I always open the door just a little, then the third is that I glance over my shoulder to look at the traffic again before pushing the door further open.
So far, so good.
I figure that the first lets me see if there are any cyclists coming, the second will warn any cyclists that I'm about to open the door hopefully in time for them to stop, and the third acts as a backup for the first and second.
theres a legend that if you say âwoof arf arf barkâ rSlash will respond to your comment.

Thatâs not how this works.
An accident resulting in 3 surgeries in the US would cost the driver's insurance company 6 figures in hospital fees along with the actual physical damage and compensation for pain and suffering and lost work. If the driver had been uninsured, good luck to OP in collecting that.

I like the way that mom thinks in the last one. I can honestly admit Iâd never think of anything like it.
I had a Freightliner owned by a landscaping company push me off of I283 into the median, totaling my car and making me miss a few days of work. Their insurance came after me for the scuff on his tire.
Long story short, I went the salvage title rout and still have the car. A 2006 Mazda 3 Si 5-door (5-speed M, 2.3L) with 280,000 miles and still running like a dream.
(For anyone interested:
About a decade later while coming home on I83 after visiting my mom in a hospital in Philly, the same car was totaled again in a hit and run. So it's actually had 2 salvage titles).
4:00 Usually, this kind of excessive spending is docked from the salary of the manager who screwed up.
Bank not validating parking: I remember something similar. A coworkerâs grandfather had the same thing happen. Due to bank incorporation rules not being followed, the board had an emergency meeting, the bank was shut down. It reopened 2 days later under new management - my coworkerâs grandfather and family. That is how they became professional bankers.

For the bank situation you normally have to call ahead of time to be able to get that amount of change that way itâs already ready by the time you get there and thereâs no issues.
The story about the phone seems to be like winning the lottery; who would think that a person could make so much money so easily?
I feel like that last one would fit better in petty revenge
my friend had a similar issue happen with the bike... some woman flew up past a stop sign just as he was crossing the street. anyways he knew he couldn't stop and just jumped off his bike(BMX) . the woman then called the cops since he passenger window was missing now... cops came, and next thing you know she was given a ticket for careless driving. i believe thats 4-5 points were i live. my friends damage on his bike, a very small dent on the top tube. i have many stories that have slightly different outcomes but are stems from the drivers flying up past the stop sign and almost hitting him or I. such as a old EMS guy(wearing a shirt that said EMS) threatening to kill us with our bikes while holding an apple. personal favorite story.
I think you cant record phone calls without notification in the UK due to wiretap laws
14:54 That sounds like complaining to someone they bled all over your sword
Just imagining a guy causing 40k USD in phone bills and NOT losing his job XD
Tells me quite a lot how trained and irreplaceable he must be XD
Wow - love the bank/change/poor customer service story. It's incredible, but it tells you all you need to know about modern banks: they don't make their money off of you and your savings/checking accounts, so there is ZERO incentive for them to be courteous, helpful, or informative toward you.
Rslash your work ethic is Inspiring !!
this is why i record all my phone calls o.o
13:30 If anyone not from Britain is watching, when he says "the driver had six points on his license," this is what he means: Here in Britain, there's a system of punishment whereby breaking the law while driving can result in getting a certain number of "penalty points" added to your license. For example, being caught using a phone or sat-nav while driving is 3 points, speeding is 3-6 points (depending how far over the limit you were), and so on. if you get 12 points in a 3-year period, you get disqualified (ie banned from driving) for up to 2 years, depending on if it's your first time. "Enough points to ban him from driving for a year" means they gave him another six points (probably for dangerous driving and/or driving without insurance), and that this was his second time getting banned (incidentally, being convicted for a driving-related crime is an automatic ban anyway). Oh, and did I mention that, since he was banned for more than 56 days, he'd have had to re-apply for his license, and possibly even retake his driving test?
