  • Ukraine's military has used the US-provided long-range Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) for the first time.
In his nightly address, President Zelensky confirmed that the ATACMS "have proven themselves".
The missiles, which can strike targets 100 miles or more away, are believed to have been used against a military airfield in Berdiansk and another one in the Luhansk region - destroying nine Russian military helicopters, an anti-aircraft missile system and an ammunition warehouse.
In this video, Simon Newton explains how the arrival of ATACMS could impact the war in Ukraine.

    Simple
While Ukraine only has a few Su-24 that can use Storm Shadows, they have 60 plus western MLRS that can use ATACMS which allows Ukraine to strike Russian forces far more effectively
Since the US is giving missiles with BLU-97/B Combined Effects Bomb payload. That means each missile can cover a large area
That means whole positions can be struck at once

I sure hope that they can do enough damage to rival that of the initial HIMARS deployment. Looks that way if an entire airfield was devastated! We can only hope that this can open a path for Ukraine's counter offensive to advance once they have blunted Russia's counter offensives.

One FACT is that, at best Ukraine is justified to fight to regain territory that was taken last year. Anything prior to that, where nothing was done is lost for good. The ONLY end to this is a negotiated agreement with new borders and eventually NATO membership for Ukraine. There is no other option short of a never ending war or an eventual nuclear exchange.
