    It looks to me like there's been a fundamental technological change since the end of the cold war/Gulf war. Antitank rockets (Kornet) and especially loitering munitions (Lancet) mean that even well-built tanks with the best defenses money can buy are vulnerable to relatively cheap weapons that the tank's crew will likely never even notice. If Russia had the ability to produce enough Lancets, they could send them out over the front lines and disable every Ukrainian vehicle. I don't know when the next war will happen, but I'm thinking it will look very different from what militaries have been planning for.

    • @TheTikTok10KChallenge

      Weapons are very sophisticated these days thanks to GPS and A.I.
      Remember the Russians have a very robust space program; they launch thousands of satellites.
      Any military on earth can send "toy sized" drones with high def spy cameras at 50x zoom, in the air to hover within yards of a large price of artillery, troop formation, or barracks and then send that pinpoint location and cordinates back to a laser guided system. In the old days militaries had to use recon teams on the ground to track and to point lasers at targets.
      My point being, any man that signs up to fight a war with robots, GPS, drones, and laser guided systems, is just signing up for a suicide mission. And that includes U.S. army, Navy, and Marines as well.
      Join the Air Force and pray that they send you in stealth air craft!

    • @Riri_734
      @Riri_734 Před 12 dny

      Technology changed the landscape of warfare however the poor performance of MBTs in the russian-ukraine war is also attributed to poor battle tactics. Sending a tank formation without proper infantry, arty and air support is basically giving free kills to the enemy which is what ukraine has been constantly doing. A lot of military weapons are meant to be used as a joint battlegroup. There is no one weapon that is all purpose, anti-everything, solo powerhouse.
      That said technology is a gamechanger. I've been out of the military more than a decade ago and back then we didn't see quite a few of the new gadgets we have now. Nowadays the military has cybersecurity divisions and drone operators for infantry formations to name a few.

    It seems to me that they always target the turret which is supposedly the most heavily armored and protected with reactive armor. Yet, if the tracks are hit, won't the tank be disabled and unable to continue the fight?
    However, having said that, the drones seem to be doing the job and in many cases the turrets are blown off the tank. If so, maybe the day of tanks is over, like the battleship. Maybe the day of drones is the current era of warfare. One kilogram, which is about 2 lbs, is all it takes for a Lancet drone of Russia to kill a Leopard tank.
    Supposedly the UK Challenger tank is in Ukraine and the Abrams are supposedly being rushed to Ukraine----with trained crews. The Challengers were supposed to use those depleted uranium rounds which were blown up at a depot by the Russians. Do they have alternate munitions? The Abrams are refurbs and not the latest 'gee whiz' from the US. With the history of the German Leopards, it would seem the Challengers and Abrams would fare no better. The video claims at 3:18 it's claimed that not only have Kornet ATGM's destroyed Leopard and Challenger tanks but Abrams as well... Abrams haven't even arrived in Ukraine yet and won't for months. There have also been zero visually confirmed Challenger losses. Any channel that calls the Ukrainian government the "Kiev regime" instead of government and shows video at 1:10 of a failed Russian assault from near the start of the war when talking about Ukrainian defeats is not being unbiased.
      Yes the start of the video does show a failed Ukrainian offensive but there is so much pro Russian bias and flat out lies please do not think this is some unbiased source, just as overly pro Ukrainian sources can distort the situation so does this video. Notice the general language as well, Ukraine is suffering "devastating defeats" and is "desperate." And although the counter offensive has not gone as well as many had assumed it would running into minefields, artillery, drones and ATGM's were not unexpected problems, they were just harder to get through than hoped.

    This certainly does not change the image of the Leopard 2A6 as an excellent tank and one of the best in the world at the moment. Certainly the best NATO tank in mass use at the moment. As Abrams and Challenger 2 are also excellent tanks... But here is the West itself, or better and more precisely, let's not lie, first of all the US as the boss, is waging a proxy war against Russia... And here they are right on the case of Leopard 2 tanks and IFV Bradley, you can see the level of blindness by their propaganda... Because people in the West really believed in their own propaganda and the lies that are told in that propaganda... A year and a half ago, from of the beginning of the second part of the Ukrainian war, from February last year ... Until today. So many were amazed "how is it possible that the Leopard 2A4/A6 was destroyed"?! Where is the biggest "game changer" Challenger 2? He is nowhere! It was presented so pompously in the propaganda, which thousands and millions of people believed... That it is "an incredible tank, a miracle of technology, which has never been destroyed until now, here are 14 pieces of these tanks for Ukraine, which will destroy hundreds of Russian tanks"?! Well, before the offensive itself, CNN showed how the Ukrainians are training now that they have modern Western equipment and Challenger 2 tanks, "you can see how they are easily breaking through the Russian lines"?! That's propaganda! The truth is completely different. The Challenger 2 is a much worse tank than the Leopard 2 A6, which was destroyed as soon as it appeared, and even the Leo 2 no longer appears on the battlefield. Until today, the Challenger 2 has not appeared on the battlefield at all?! Except in the Goebbelsian propaganda, in training, and in the media that spread that propaganda CNN, BBC, SUN, SKY, MSNBC, Free Europe/Ukraine... Let's remind you, not all the notorious lies of these Goebbelsian media "Russians are drunk backward genocidal lunatics, who remove chips from washing machines that were developed in the west to produce tanks... And even when they produce a tank, it is actually broken, because of corruption in Russia... The first series of extraordinary modernized T-55S tanks arrived in Ukraine from Slovenia "Although it is the same old T-55 tank with a slight modernization, which did not bring any special benefits to this tank?! However, this tank is really used by the Ukrainians on the front lines... On the other hand, several videos show that some T-55 tanks are being transported on trains in Russia, and this is the same propaganda of the above-mentioned and various other media from the West mocking "hahaha, here is the proof that the Russians have no more tanks, the Ukrainians destroyed everything with powerful Western weapons, and now there are also museum specimens of T-55 tanks, they only have that left"?! So the T-55 donated from Slovenia to Ukraine is an "incredible beast of a superior machine"?! But when the Russians do it, it's "hahah outdated garbage"?! Do you see the pattern of how globalist propaganda works?! Although so far we have not seen a single T-55 from the Russian side in the war in Ukraine, on the front lines! But that's why we saw the fate of the T-55 S from the Ukrainian side ... Russians mainly use T-72B3/B3M, T-80BVM, T-90S/M ... And these tanks are produced and modernized in three shifts in several factories ... so let's continue "spirit from Kiev, 13 from snake island, the Russians have no more ammunition and missiles"?! This was repeated with ammunition in the propaganda media for a year and a half, every month 10 times! And every time it was a lie! a few days before the fall of Bakhmut, "the Russians ran out of ammunition with only shovels"?! Further comment is redundant! So when they put this kind of propaganda into people's heads, for which it must be admitted that Goebbels and Hitler are little children from the amusement park, amateurs... People really believe in it, they believe in their own lies and propaganda. So they believed that the Russian army is actually "a bunch of stupid idiots, with outdated military equipment, and that they are actually below the level of rebels and mujahideen from the Middle East"?! And that the Leopard 2 will be a "game changer" even though in the recent past we witnessed that the rebels in Syria, without training in slippers, destroyed 8 pieces of Leopard 2A4 tanks in a few hours with the old Soviet ATGM systems... And that the Challenger 2 since its existence in 25 years has not participated, like any western tank, in any war, but in a series of low-intensity conflicts, against several tens of thousands of times of a weaker opponent with backward military equipment, without training, in slippers?! In 25 years, Challenger 2 participated in only one minor operation in Basra, and nowhere else! But that's what happens when you believe your propaganda about "game changers" Leo 2, Challenger 2, Abrams, PZH-2000, Cesar, Himars... These can be "game changers" against the Taliban, ignorant, untrained poorly armed civilians, or rebels... Not against a serious army. The proof is that the Ukrainians are returning with T-72 and T-64 tanks, and old Russian towed and self-propelled howitzers... But the problem of the West, or better said the US boss, is that it never had the balls to wage war against its own equals, but against backward small countries of the third world, for the sake of colonial influence and occupation of those countries and theft of its resources...
    I understand that he lies a little bit, it's war, propaganda always exists... But this goes beyond common sense! Because there are few in the West, so that lie can pass with most of the truth... But outside of common sense, the Western mainstream media lie about everything, they even invent fairy tales! But in the case of the IFV Bradley, tanks Leo2A 6, Challenger 2, PZH-2000, M-777, Himars...Propaganda and lies, in the case of Ukraine, are hitting the heads of the bosses in Washington! And that lie and propaganda is rejected on their heads and Ukraine really "wins"!

      One logical problem with that argument: your numbers don't add up - there have been thousands of Russian tanks destroyed, and only a handful of Leopards destroyed (the Russians only claim 16, and as usual they inflate their figures). The problem with war is that it's very hard to get good info, and people post their opinions all the time. The only site I know that actually posts information on destroyed military equipment in Ukraine is the Oryxspionkop site, and they back up every single post with photographic evidence. That doesn't mean they have pictures of every destroyed item of equipment (so the real numbers are probably higher on both sides), but they do have actual evidence, so I find them far more believable than statements from either the Russians or the Ukrainians.
