Politicians don’t do friendships
Putin and Xi are familiar with each other for 2 decades and met insane amount of times, including private non-state meetings and attended each others birthdays.

Sorry, but western weapons being used by Ukraine to destroy Russian bases on Russian territory is NOT an act of war. It is not a gesture of friendship, to be sure, but weapons deliveries to belligerents have never been considered an act of war. If so, then Switzerland would have been at war with Germany and the allies in WW II at the same time… And Russia is not in a virtual state of war with NATO. That would look VERY different.
Very good otherwise
I agree with you, but russia has not, does not, and will not abide by international, conventional or traditional law or rules. That regime only does what benefits those in power (personally and "professionally"). If they say it's an act of special military operation, then it is as far as the russian people are concerned. I hear they're "not good" at politics and it seems that they put all of their faith and trust in putin and whatever decisions he makes for the country and them personally.

In China it is all about face - The Chinese concept of “face” (aka 面子 or miànzi) refers to a cultural understanding of respect, honor and social standing. Russia has just destroyed its reputation amongst their peers, which puts Russia on the lower step, inferior and not worthy of time, effort and resources, except in certain areas where China is deficient - it is a cabal of convenience, and the more Russia tries, the further it is going to fall, and the less China is going to respect, honor and have dealings with them, especially if secondary sanctions are going to hit them hard.
well said! In that recognition, would it guide relationships, should be a lot of potential for a better future with China.
China is next after Russia. There is no way the US would ever allow China to become the dominant super power. Protectionism and sanctions have happened. China has been planning for it thus the strong expansion into Africa (political support and trade).
When it comes down to survival or trade - survival will always be a stronger instinct. The US has already thrown down the gauntlet. China knows it will need to diversify away. Starting with the US chip ban China will need to make its own high end ones, there is no going back.
China is waiting, like Ukraine and the West, for Putin to collapse in this ill-thought-out, and incompetently executed operation, sabotaged mainly by the corrupt elements in Putin's own inner circle that have destroyed the Russian Military by theft from within, and Putin's vanity and his chosen lack of counsel from people who could have dissuaded him from this path, if only he wasn't so paranoid and intent on securing his dictatorship for life. They often amass wealth through corruption, control of resources, or exploiting state institutions for their benefit.

Um, uh, umm, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh. I agreed with most of what he said, but I just can't respect anybody who talks like that. It's one of the first things you're supposed to learn in grade school. If you can't think of the word you need for a moment, then you keep quiet for that moment. You don't say "um, ah, uh, uh, uh..." It drives people wild. They want to scream at you, "Spit it out, for god's sake!" It's rude and low class. People that do it lack respect for the people they're talking to.

This was always a marriage of convenience. In the long run, there will be a great deal of friction. The people in the Kremlin who still believe in the old Russian Empire and the people in Red Square who still hold grudges for the wrongs the great imperial powers visited on China will have their own agendas. And since neither has a free society those feeling will be “jinned” up with no release valve. This may not end well.
If most western countries war chest were empty. I'd deflect to Russian Chinese relations aswell.
Based on the arms and ammunition that Russia is receiving from China and other allies, Ukraine will loose some territory. Its a numbers game here. And Ukraine just doesn't have the numbers wether it's soldiers, ammo or drones. Also, if the allies of Ukraine really wanted them to win the war; they would not have put restrictions on any weaponry supplied. That's a hard reality we all need to start thinking about imo.
China is in no shape to antagonize Capitalist nations. Not militarily nor economic. Nor with active support for Putin.
The desperation to create a fake narrative is satire at best!

Absolutely not.
Well, for China and Russia, the enemy of my friend is MY enemy
He said the use of nukes is a sign of weakness. The US is the only country that has ever used nukes against another country. What is a weakness on the part of US to have use nukes?
At that time noone knew what the power of nukes was really. Japan surrendered after Hiroshima and Nagazaki, not before. If they had known about this possibility before things would have been different for sure. Since then noone even dared to use nukes again, because they had seen its effect in these two cities.
This is so clearly propaganda. 🙄
Limiting combat to specific borders or enemy territories is an ineffective strategy.
The Taliban's survival in Afghanistan provides a telling example: they would retreat into Pakistan to evade bombings, rearm, and then launch attacks on American forces. Similarly, the U.S. strategy of not invading North Vietnam but focusing on defending the South ultimately failed. These tactics are flawed because if an enemy has a sanctuary, they can endure assaults and strike when vulnerabilities appear.
Under international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself both within and beyond its borders. If Russia did not want its territory targeted, it should not have initiated a cowardly, brutal, unprovoked, and illegal war of aggression aimed at the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine should not be constrained in its defense.
Here's the reality: even if the West continues to prohibit Ukraine from using donated weapons to strike inside Russia, it's only a matter of time before Ukraine develops its own long-range capabilities. They have been working with enough donated systems to have a starting point by now.
Sending solidarity from Scotland! Glory to Ukraine!
Ukraine was the builder of the systems for the Russian military, and they have shown their ability to adapt, that means... survival Viva, Ukraine!

Russia's perceived military might hasn't been the same since their campaign in Afghanistan! Their navy since the Russo-Japanese War in 1904; and 1/3 of the ships from their Black Sea fleet have been destroyed.
I always forget how short Putin is, even when walking next to Xi.
Puny Putin with his western inferiority complex.

I’ve heard an interesting theory that his psychopathy is due to lead poisoning from childhood and lack of iodine, common affliction post WW2 in Russia.
😂...then I start to think, what if some Putin inferiority complex actually was the driving force behind this war?! Because Putin is a short man ?!?
Never vote for a leader who's not truly sure of his own value, independent of office and supposed success. However, how helpful is that advice?
Obviously Reagan was avery short man, but a leader willing to change his mind completely on Soviet Russia from "evil empire" to d'tente and arms reduction in agreement with Gorbathev. Sadly, the Russian's made nothingconstructive out of it. Russia could have developed a lot since the 1990's, but they choose gangsters to run their country.

That also partly explains the collapse of the Roman empire. They fed their cities with water through great aqueducts built with lead pipes. It did something to their brains.
It would have been a great job to develop Russia the proper way with a great free democracy. What a true beast of a country it could have become. Unfortunately now it has climbed down an endless rabbit hole
I was thinking that, they could've been a whole new type of superpower, not mired in this 19th century BS. A potential example to the world. They had carte blanche, and went for an empire. Missed opportunity, not only for Russia but for the world. If you have a country that is stable and welcoming and good to live in, you will never have a demographic issue, people will settle there.
