  • Brought this 928D down from dads farm to get it ready for his first spring mow. Started with fixing the alternator bracket. Then tightened the ROPS and sharpened the blades.

Great job on the video. I've long been a fan of the Grasshopper mower but not an owner of one yet. Keep up the good work. It did look like the alternator bracket was not what I would call robust from the factory.

Thank you sir! We’ve run grasshopper for years on our large properties. I recommend getting a diesel they seem to last the longest!

Great video. You need to get some gloves with the impact on those blades. Keep that up and you'll have to change the name to 9 finger shed lol.

I have a 1995 721d2. Engine runs great. Deck is wore out. Would love to find a powerfold deck or know what needs modded for the powerfold.

Pretty sure the 721 has the Gemini transaxle and I don’t believe there are remote controls for the power fold. Now the later 7 series had an electric actuator for power fold which could possibly be bolted up. Last actuator I bought was $600 and that was in 2014 so I’m sure they cost more now

Is it a 727? They had the Eaton Gemini trans axle. Pretty easy fix 9/10 it’s usually the check valves on top back out and let fluid bypass the pumps

The 900 series is very poorly designed and if you like working on your mower this is your machine. If you just want to mow go with 700 series. Mine 900 is broke more than running and I just mow my grass. 200 hours and been in the shop for months! My 700 was bulletproof, stay away from the 900 series.

Good luck my new 900 has been in the shop for over a month, worst buy I ever made. Low power poor quality machine.

They’re absolute garbage… Dad has this one and another one up at his farm. He loves them, but that’s because I’m the one who works on them.

That bracket broke because the pivot bolt is loose. If you don't tighten that pivot bolt, the bracket will break again ..
