    Great video of an x7 handling stuff usually mowed using a brush hog! The part that always makes me cringe when doing stuff like this is the thought of what's hiding under that tall grass just waiting to 'make my day'.

      I've had my share of surprises in tall grass! Luckily this lot is normally well maintained and I know where all the obstacles are. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome mower! The front fenders really help the grass from flinging up on the deck and floorboard.

    I have an older X749 with a bagger and I have used it to cut heavy grass on ocassion. Very tough machine and with the bagger it is a one trip and grass looks great and I dump clipping in a pile for composting which I turn over with a grapple on a 5100M. You will have your machine a long time, I hope you are enjoying it.

      I am thinking about the bagger to help with fall leaf cleanup. I am enjoying it, it's one of my favorite pieces on machinery! Thanks for watching!

    I mowed stuff like that on foreclosure cleanups with a 425. I double cut forward and reverse then again at a slightly low deck height to get a cleaner cut. 2 feet tall grass and weeds are not a quick easy job.

    I mow shit like this with a push mower and it absolutely sucks ass. Been considering a 4wd riding mower for a minute.

    If you want extreme mowing cut a treated yard that was cut for 3 or 4 weeks! That will make smoke!

    i like the sound of the diesel better than the gas + the extra torque and weight would be cool how are they in winter starting etc. ?

    • @bootlegadventures5823
      @bootlegadventures5823  Před 10 měsíci

      I don't use it in the winter, not enough snow here to justify a plow. But when I have to move it around in the garage it starts find with no problems. Turn the key, wait a minute or two, then crank. Fires right up!

      Glow plugs make starting in winter no problem. An often overlooked stat is the reduced fuel consumption. About 40% less than gas. I’ve had JD diesels since a 330 in 1982. All were high quality and hold their resale value.

    That tractor doesn’t even show the slightest sign of bogging down.

    Sounds like your deck has the same rattle as mine

    • @jamesmabry2261

      I have an x758 and make deck rattles at lot at low rpm. Pretty much gone at full throttle. You ever figure out the source? Looks like to me it is related to the idler pulley. Mine goes back and forth a lot!

      @@jamesmabry2261 I feel like it’s the spindles. After a couple seasons, and after feeding them a LOT of Lucas Red & Tacky grease, it seems to have improved at least a bit. Sometimes it will come back again when I’m on a hillside… but I suspect that the Chinese-made spindles on the Chinese-made deck are the culprit. Since it still mows quite well, and hasn’t broken, I’ve stopped worrying about it as much 😀

    That’s a diesel 3 cylinder yanmar correct?? It sounds just like your average Briggs and Stratton style mower. I thought it was a gas tractor until I looked it up.

    • @bootlegadventures5823
      @bootlegadventures5823  Před měsícem

      Yes, it's a 3-cylinder Yanmar diesel. It sounds much different in person than a gas engine, especially at idle. Thanks for watching!

    Mate… sharpen ya dam blade, seeing how much uncut grass is left over after one pass as slow as that not loading up the engine makes me cringe. That is due to blades being waaaay too blunt

    • @bootlegadventures5823
      @bootlegadventures5823  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi David! The blades had maybe 3 cuts on my residential lawn since the last sharpening then out there to the property on this video. The issue was the height (2' - 3') and the first foot of growth being very thick here in the Ozarks. Usually it looks great after one pass if I can cut it at least once a month. Things came up and I had to let this lot go for 3 months or so in our peak growing season. Believe me, I sharpened them again after this. Thanks for watching!
