Received my stoic 4 3 days ago, great package and been out and completely loving it. Had sent it down any trails yet but rode grass pathways and was great. Canyon service was brilliant and delivery was spot on. Easy to assemble and have changed the grips and saddle to suit me. Iam 6”7” and find it easy to ride, will find out how it handles next week on the trails. Great bike would highly recommend.
Hey man! I picked one up a few months ago. I have only ridden it maybe 5 times so far, but loving every chance I get to go out on it. The only thing I really need to do is get a dropper post. I am your height and got a size large. Seems to fit fine for me but Im just a novice. Can't wait to take it up to the mountains this summer to some bike parks!
Last year I traded my Grand Canyon for a Stoic 2 and couldn't have been happier. I'm 6'1 and got a large, I immediately felt much better on the Stoic than my Grand Canyon. (reach was a bit shorter, which relieved my back 😉) Coming out of the box I changed the drivetrain to a Microshift Advent-X (10-48), I needed a bit more range and it is a nice budget drivetrain. Then the dropper post, ODI grips, some decent pedals and made everything tubeless. I gave my fork a service at the start of the season. I cleaned an regreased everything, put some foam rings (there aren't any in...) and added a bit more oil in the damper (went from 5ml to 10). Now it feels a lot smoother than before. 😊 Planned upgades: Brakes!! Next upgrade will be Magura MT5's and in the long run I'll be looking for a 150mm fork.
I've beeen looking on these Stoic "family" bikes for some time and I really really want one of them. They look amazing, all 3 versions, and they are very good at price/performance I would say
How does it go uphill? Is it also good in city rides? I want a versatile mtb that I can ride smooth uphills, city pavements, a semi beach-ish trail and rocky, steeper downhills
I have one too... And to a high degree I would agree with @MTB Alpine County. The bike seems like a budget friendly durable option, no super light weight, no fancy additionals. Frame has a little messy welds (made in Cambodia...). To a high degree Pinkbike's review put some good highlights on the purchase one does; dropper is an absolute need to get the versatility of such a hardtail. I hated the grips, so ODI or Renthal came to the rescue. Then proper pedals & Brand-X dropper. Then a 11-46 cassette, just in case... Meaning, the budget bike WILL rack up some additional cost immediately to be usable as an "out of the box" bike. Think of it, why would you not just start off with the bits making more sense, than to buy twice? Well, availability. I was super lucky and fetched one just before Christmas, arriving within a week. So if this platform with a few essential add-ons is enough (like for me, I just wanted to go a bit more "capable simplicity" since having a 10 year old Fuel EX), it does so just fine. If you really drool on a bit more hairy parts, I believe budget wise it only makes sense if they too are "budget friendly". For me I see Ragley actually becoming more of an option, when considering the Bomber Z2 fork and MT500 brakes on their Big Al versus what I have had to do with the Stoic 2. Two pointers & one observation: the 30 toothed front seems to run out of speed already on basic "commuting" + the MT200s and Resin pads only really isn't much. I am 6'3 (190cm) and was guided to a Large bike - maybe it is because of the long cockpit Big Sur and Fuel EX as comparison, but I cannot help to feel it is a bit short. My changes: Brand X dropper, NS bikes platform pedals, Renthal lock-on grips, Maxxis Ikon tan walls as allrounders for ashalt, gravel and destination trail usage. Garmin 1030 plus. Future changes: Evan's MTB showcased the possibility with Marzocchi Bomber Z2 140mm 1:1 upgrade, but ideally I'd get a Z1 150-160mm and better brakes, alike Magura MT5. you can see some shots of it here: instagram.com/wauola
I just ordered the Stoic 2 during the trail sale, got it for $899 plus tax and shipping. That’s $1070 out the door. I’m using the savings to put a Marzocchi bomber and a couple other upgrades. It’s going to be less than the 4, with parts I choose.
Luckily I managed to get mine in about a week, for some people it takes quite a while though, a few people have said they got them way quicker than they were told
I got one. Put it straight into the best of rough on New England. I'm 5'9 and a large was perfect. I manually adjusted the seat post as necessary. This bike needs a dropper. Derailleur hanger is soft. I'm Sram guy and will swap out. Brakes work ok for light duty. Fork is no where near my spec. But overall I had a great time beating it out of the box. I recommend on the 9er bigger tires. 27.5 go as big as you can. ALSO the stock 9er is not TR. Bummer. I would gave gotten the 4 but not available at the time. But if your an upgrade junky like me, have fun!💪🤟🍺
Hello, I'm 5'8 do you think a medium would be good for me? According to the size guide on the website it tells me I should get a small. But when I've bought other bikes at bike shops they have always put me on a medium sometimes they even try to put me on a large. I was wanting to get a medium, but the size guide is confusing me
I'm definetely inteterested in the Stoic 2 (I'll probably buy the 3 if it'll be on sale soon). The only thing I'm not sure about is the size. I'm just a tad bit over 6ft, and you said you were 5,11 which is close, so would an M or an L fit better?
@@joserizal877 I've heard the san Quentin's run a bit small since they are made to be more playful, I have a younger friend who's ridden my stoic hes about 5'1" I think? The stoic had a very good standoger height so it's mostly down to if you want a larger more stable bike or smaller more playful one
@@purpleRider05 sounds very informative, are there any issues between your friends inseam vs toptube? I hope the stand over height of your friend with your frame is fine?
@@joserizal877 I believe it was a little tight for him but very much usable for the street wheely rides we were doing, on a trail I'd probably want him on a small frame
Reasons not to get the Stoic 2 includes: Very few colour selections I think the black and white option is a bit on the boring side, would prefer something more fun, bike frame triangle too small so can not even fit 2 water bottles in there and can not fit a proper size battery there in case I ever wanted to do a e-bike conversion on it, no attachment points on the frame for stuff like kickstand, bike rack or even proper mudguards. So since I also want my bike to function in city life this one is not for me.
This bike is absolutely not made for the things you’ve listed here, this is a semi hardcore trail/all mountain Hardtail. Kick stands and racks do not belong on this frame it sounds like you need more of a cross country style bike that would fit your criteria

This is insane how cheap this bike is. On Polish site its 750$ and I'm speechless. Cheapest alternative is a damn San Quentin 1!
Yeah I was looking at a san quentin before this bike and the stoic is sooo much of a better deal

Ordered the 2 myself today aswell. The frame is identical to the 3 and 4. Just going to get upgrades along as I go 🎉

I think you got a real bang for your buck...
I'm biased but, the giant fathom is better value imo. If you have the extra money then the stoic is a great bike! And love it in white
Yeah the frame is definitely one of the reasons I went with the stoic 😁
The stoic is slightly slacker 65° headtube vs the 66° on the fathom. Also the stoic comes with a 140mm instead of 130mm fork
The stoic is way better value they are almost identical spec minus the fork which the stoic wins and a dropper post on the fathom but it's 300 more
Lots of bang for the buck!
most definitely!
Nice vid, how about a 5'6" guy for a medium-sized frame will it fit nicely? Tia
I would probably go with the small, it will be more maneuverable with a smaller frame and 27.5 wheels

They definitely feel alot taller and a bit heavier than 27.5 but they ride soo much smoother

what about the tires, do they have inner tube or tubeless
they are tubeless ready but come with tubes as stock

if you like the color and can afford it its 1000% a better deal it has a MUCH better fork a dropper better cranks and 4 piston brakes
