I have a stoic 2 as well and am loving it. I have two questions though, what pressure are you running in for for in relation to your weight and do you find the fork running slow in mild cold? thanks
On the tyres I'm running between 30-35 psi. I have no idea what the fork pressure is, I don't have a fork pump. I haven't had any problems with it in cold weather, but I haven't messed around with it much either. If I get a fork pump, I'll make sure to put an update in my next video!
There's just some standard rim tape on them, but it's not tubeless tape. I'd recommend getting tubeless tape, sealant and tubeless valves to make it work.
im thinking of buying this one as a second bike, is there any issues regarding the fork? I cant find that many info on that fork. Does the gearing enough?
Yeah, in cold weather the fork used to get stuck. I took it for a service and they greased it up a bit and it was immediately loads better. The gearing is ok for me. You could invest in slightly wider cassette if you need a gear for climbing really steep hills.
HEY! Can you help me? What kind of dropper post should i buy for my stoic 2 size L? Im 184 cm tall. Should i go for a 170 mm travel or a 160 is high enough?
If there's not much difference in price, go for the 170mm. More is always better. I had a 125mm post on my last bike and it was loads better than having none at all, so think about it that way!
Just ordered the Stoic2 today in size medium:) Was recommended S, but want 29" wheels (i`m 174/80). I already have YT Cf Comp as a full suspensionbike....i`d went for the Stoic 2, because both my bikes then will be 11-speed and I can swap wheelsets between the bikes (or any others components for that matter). Whats your thoughts on the wheelset.....I already have a spare wheelset (E-thirteen TRS+), wich i`m thinking of as an immediate upgrade (11-46 cassette). Therefor considering to sell the Alexrims, and use the money to uppgrade seatpost. The bike looks great!!
@@t0mj4y It turned out really nice. The bike works great. Changes the wheelset with my spare set( e13 trs+ 29 ), changed derailleur shimano xt 11-speed(m8000) and xt shifter.also changed the chain to 11-speed. Got the Brand-X 170mm dropper at a bargainprice at chainreaction….$140. Have also ordered formula cura brakeset, but have not received it yet. Now i can swap between the to bikes, so all working as planned. My only problem now, is to convince my partner that this was a good investment😂
Nice review. You have a 170mm dropper post, how tall are you? I'm about to order a Stoic 2 and am trying to figure out the dropper length I need to get. Thanks!
@@lexx348 Mine's an L. It feels the right size for me. My advice would be to take your leg measurement carefully and go with Canyon's recommended size.
@@t0mj4y Hey man! How did you fit that 170 mm? I have an XL, I am around 195 cm, and my saddle height with the included post is around 160 mm. Do you have really long legs or how is this working for you? I see you didnt even dropped it to the bottom. Are you extending it the fullest? I have probably last year edition, I ordered it some weeks ago. Is there any frame difference to the older models?
@@markmark2961 hey! Fitting the seatpost wasn't too tricky in my experience. I had to take the bottom bracket off so I could fit the cables through, but other than that it was ok. In terms of the saddle height, I have the seatpost fully extended with about 30 mm of spare room on the outer seatpost before it reaches its maximum insertion in the downtube. I have a fairly average leg length I guess. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Yeah, I've seen a few comments about that. I live in Valencia, Spain, so we don't have temperatures that cold very often. If I go for a winter ride in the coming months I'll let you know how it performs.
For me it wasn't an option because I didn't have the money and I knew I could save up for a dropper post. Depending on your currency the stoic 3 is an extra 300 euros,so if you're planning to put a dropper post on, that's going to cost around 150. Then the question is: are the Rockshox fork and the 12 speed drivetrain worth the other 150?
The tyres aren't very fast rolling, that's the only thing. I do about 5-10km of road riding to get to the trails, so it's definitely useable, but if you're only going to use it for commuting I would recommend a road or gravel bike, or at least changing the tyres.
My advice would be to trust Canyon. They're much better experts than I am :) The top of my saddle sits 31 cm above the top of the seatpost clamp if that helps.
@@t0mj4y thanks a lot friend. I appreciate that. I will go for the L and hope for the best. I think it seems like your chain is not routed correctly through the derailleur. It should make some noise. I upgraded the cassette to a 11-46 pretty quick and it made a big difference. It worked fine with the Deore derailleur even though Shimano says it doesn't. I just recently upgraded to 11 speed 11-52 and that was a great upgrade as well, but for pretty much more money.
Thanks for the info. Any ideas where the problem is with the derailleur routing? I can't see the problem. Did you have to change the freehub or wheel to convert to 11 speed?
@@t0mj4y It looks like the chain is on the wrong side of the small piece of metal between the two pulleys. The chain is supposed to go in a straight line, on the other side of that small piece of metal. 11 speed works fine with the same freehub. If you want 12 speed you might have to change the freehub.
Yeah, all fine. I've done about 1,500km on it now. Pretty much all trail riding. In that time it's had one fork service, one brake bleed and one new spoke on the rear wheel. I'm now running flat pedals on it too. Really happy with it!
