    I just bought a bike and I’m pretty sure the guy put too small of a tire on because it doesn’t seat properly on either rim and I ended up popping my tube right at the top of the trail and had to walk the rest of the way. I've got wtb vigilante 2.3 both front and rear on my 120mm hard tail. I like the traction but have considered something that rolls a little faster since my local trails are pretty xc oriented. Lots of quick punchy climbs and roll-ins down the other side. Thanks for going over these. Hopefully I'll be getting something soon.

    • @WorldwideCyclery
      @WorldwideCyclery  Před 6 lety +1

      doctajuice nice! Vigilante tires definitely have great traction. If you wanted to try something a little faster rolling on the Maxxis side you could try a DHR II up front and an aggressor rear tire. Still plenty of traction that should roll a bit faster. Or you can even try Ardent's front and rear. Those would be wayyy faster and light but definitely have less traction than your vigilantes.

    For general riding, I'm on 2.5 WTB Breakouts Fast Rolling, Light Casing. REALLY like these tires for anything street to an easier going (blue maybe) intermediate trail. They roll super well and are very grippy despite the harder durometer rubber.
    Anything more serious, my other wheels are shod with WT Minions, for already well known reasons.

Lots of loose rocks and loose dirt on the trails that I ride, and this combo is decently light weight with tons of grip. I just ordered some Ignitors (26x2.35) to replace Panaracer Fire XCs (26x2.1). I really like the Fires but wanted a little more air volume for my hardtail. My local trail has a lot of rock and roots. I'm also going tubeless.

    • @CaptainYodelstein
      @CaptainYodelstein Před 6 lety

      I mounted the Ignitors on Stan's No Tubes Arch MK3 wheels. They mounted so easy I thought I did something wrong because I've heard it's hard to do...well it went very easy for me. Great tires to replace the Fire XCs. The extra volume is nice on the rough sections of my local trail. I'm sure the lower tire pressure I can run from being tubeless helps a lot. High 5 for no more pinch flats!

    All good points but you forgot to talk about the type of dirt you’re riding. Is it a groomed bike park, Moab slick rock, high alpine, or loose sand? One thing I’ve found helpful is to use a good sized TelePrompTer even just for using as an outline, it helps a lot to make sure you hit all your speaking points. It’s really hard when you start talking on camera to remember them all. Keep the content coming!

      That is not a bad tire setup. Schwalbe makes nice stuff. I think if you tried a Maxxis DHF 2.5 in the front and a Maxxis Aggressor 2.3 in the rear you'd love it! The DHF is more versatile than the Magic Marry, although the Magic Marry is better for really soft/muddy conditions. We have a video coming out soon comparing the two tires. But both brands are great. Also worth checking out WTB, the Vigilante in the front and Trail Boss rear is another excellent setup. Cheers!

    Dhf upfront with a high roller on the rear... Used a ardent on the back before, rolled well but just does not offer the same feel as the HR. Used a DHR before on the front and it was also great. Next step for summer in South Africa for me would be the aggressor on the rear. Maaaxxxxxiiissss tyres rock!

    I have a 27.5+ bike and just bought some new tires for it. I got the Maxxis Minion DHF 27.5 x 2.8 for the front, and an Aggressor 27.5 x 2.5WT for the rear. Is the width difference of .3” anything to be concerned about?

      @WorldwideCyclery  Před 6 lety +1

      No need to worry at all :) You should be good to go with that tire set up. Could have maybe gone a little wider in the rear but should still ride well. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    I'm now running 2 Schwalbe nobby nic's 26x2,35 but since I am going to race in the alps in France (I live in Holland but try to freeride on any downhill we have in this flat country) I ordered Maxxis DHF 26x2,5 dualply and a 26x2,4 DHR II dualply. the bike I am using is a Specialized Enduro SX 2014 (Yes it is a dual slalom/4x bike but we converted it to a trail bike =D)

    I recently got into MTB trail riding & I'm totally hooked; however, there is so much info out there it is very difficult to not get overwhelmed & give up the search for the correct info. The trails I ride are forested, single track, hard packed, tons of roots, ups, & downs. I started with a Walmart mongoose bike when I discovered I really like the trails. So I started researching. Wow is this stuff expensive! I just got my new upgrade from the Walmart bike, but still well under a high end bike. I got a Galaxy FSX 1.0 on BikesDirect online. It is a "full suspension" & has 26" tires. When I looked at all the reviews the first thing it said repeatedly was that you were going to want to upgrade the tires, that the ones that come on it are like road tires. So I didn't even give the tires a chance & automatically put a more aggressive tire on it. The tires on the Walmart bike I thought went through the trails just fine but I couldn't find them for sale. The tires I have on it now are Hutchinson Barracuda MRC High 26" Folding tire 26 x 2.10. I went on the trail for the 1st time with them yesterday, when it had just rained quite a bit the days before. I noticed when going over the roots that my tires, back mostly, slipped around on the roots a lot! I went back today, it was a little drier, & it didn't slip as much but still slipped on the roots some. I don't know if it is the wetness of the ground or if my tires are too aggressive, or if I just simply have the entirely wrong type of tire. I did notice when riding on the road between weekends that the grip is fantastic. In the future I would love to do some DH riding occassionally but I'm ok with renting a bike for that. For now what I like & see myself doing mostly is trails like above. So my question is, what is the best tire for that type of riding? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    What is your opinion on tires for my trike? I was thinking maxdaddy for back two, and something less tread for front. I have a worksman old adult tricycle, that I have custom...has a 24v brushless motor, has 3 speed that came with the bike, plus made extra gearing so I have super low and high. I use bicycle when I deer hunt, about hr back in mountain! It's all log roads, but gets muddy and snow from time to time with few good hills. Works great... Has lot of power with the 24v lithium battery deep cycle battery. But need tires and it spins I'm the snow and mud
