- What up, toobies!
Here is my second entry into Girlpainting's 7,000 Subscriber Competition on painting tutorials. It's a Warboss Taetorial on how to paint Konrad "The Beast" von Carstein, the craziest of all Vampires to come from the vaunted von Carstein family.
Here is the list of paints I used, if you'd like to recreate my paint scheme:
GW FOUNDATION Mechrite Red
GW FOUNDATION Calthan Brown
GW FOUNDATION Iyanden Darksun
GW FOUNDATION Hormagaunt Purple
GW FOUNDATION Dheneb Stone
GW WASHES Badab Black
GW WASHES Devlan Mud
GW Ogryn Flesh
GW Skull White
GW Blood Red
GW Blazing Orange
GW Shining Gold
GW Mithril Silver
GW Boltgun Metal
GW Burnished Gold
GW Codex Grey
GW Dark Flesh
GW Red Gore
GW Regal Blue
GW Hawk Turqoise
GW Ice Blue
GW Space Wolves Grey
GW 'Ardcoat Gloss Varnish
Of course you don't have to use all of these colors, these are just the ones that I specifically used for my color scheme.

Very very nice job mate, I watched the entire thing while painting mine and about half way done lol keep the good work up :)
Lovely model Warboss! Love the bat cape and the vivid reds. :D
awesome job!
this has made me really appreciate the detail and pose of this model, which i hadn't really paid attention too before.
@KainTLA Thank you! I like the way that the reds and the bat cape turned out as well!
Looks freakin' EPIC man! my friend plays vampire counts and I have Konrad for his birthday, I will show him this video!
He turned out great , nice tutorial, keep em coming :)
realy awesome i love thet cape of bads :)
Hi thanks for the compliment! If this was a real-time taetorial like my current videos, we probably would've finished together hahaha! Thanks for watching and I hope your comes out as best as you want it to be!
@julibughawk725 I agree! I went back and put on some leviathan purple, and it really worked in making the model look more crazed and sleep-deprived. And thanks for correcting me with the fluff! I guess he would need to have some necromancers around to raise the army that he rampaged across the empire with.
finallllly a warhammer fantasy painter :D
@WarbossTae Yah, I read in a fan fiction that one of the Carstein brothers tranformed into a wolf and wanted to hunt Manfred down
@Tim85axira Ahhh! So sorry if I missed that step! I basically painted the hair like this:
1) Chaos Black
2) Highlight with Adeptus Battlegrey
3) Wash with Badab Black
4) Highlight individual strands (very sparsely) with Codex Grey. You want it to look like light is reflective off of his hair, not that he has salt and pepper George Clooney hair =D
@Lostsoul1889 Yeah, I'm surprised that the swarming bats came out as well as they did. I knew they'd look pretty good, but it's amazing what some contrasting colors can do to make the little details pop!
@Handegekke Awesome! Thanks for the compliment! =D
@1madhammer thank you! I'm honoured u think so. Maybe one day :D
@WarbossTae aye will do always on the lookout for high/wood elf models including the stuff like eagles, gryphons n feathered beasties :P
Looking good , going use this how to paint my "normal" vampire lords (the one with the lance and sword with shield) Altho there metal models :s
Keep up the pwn video's!
Sweet paintjob - you should enter Golden Demon with painting that quality.
@Tileccolapussy hello! For the armor, I painted it all Mechrite Red, then I highlighted it with Blood Red, shaded with Badab Black, and highlighted again with Blood Red at the edges. Best of luck! :)
@Davejimjr I actually picked up the wood elf spellsinger in Finecast and a bunch of SoM monsters, stay tuned for those :D
@TheDizmo Hey Dizmo! Some of the minis I end up keeping, and some I end up selling to friends who have those armies. I find it harder and harder to justify keeping so many random bits and pieces for different armies, but I would keep them all if I could! I don't think I can fit them all onscreen if I did a "family photo" lol, I actually was thinking about switching over from pots to Privateer Press paints or Vallejo. But sure, I'll put up a video of how I prep my paints on a pallete!
Nice video Tea! Couldn't u make a video with mannfred von carstein? The mounted version ;D would be so nice, really an epic model!! ;)
@DeathlyTharcandus Thank you! I hope he likes/is able to use it!
good tutorial
@simpelekaas Thanks! If I can get my hands on a corpse cart, I'll definitely try to get it done before the end of October!
Metal is best! No stupid Finecast miscasts and minimal mold line shenanigans to deal with =D
@Tartersauce101 I hadn't either! I just picked it up and thought it would be good to do a video on lol. I didn't expect so much detail in the model =D
@Ryder40k Thanks! Will do!
I want to see your army! it has to be huge and awesome if I'm not wrong, show it pleaseee
"when konrad usurped power after vlads death , he took a very different view to necromancers, and encouraged many to join his entourage . he rewarded them greatly, for though he waz barking mad, he waz no fool. he needed the necromancers to raise his armies for him,and while they served him well, he guaranteed their safety." 15:25 *coff coff* only skiped to the end anyway (N)
boo to not fielding necromancers!!! fluff wize theres nothing that says u carnt :p fuk vlad anyway KONRAD VON CARSTEIN!
Crazy Cousin Konrad always seemed like the most fun to have around when the party started!
WarbossTae Nagash started the party :] model so op it waz removed from fantasy full so op he is the head of 2 fractions of warhammer XD all hail the dark lord
D34M0NF0X0FCR1MS0N fluff*
D34M0NF0X0FCR1MS0N
And now hes back!
@Tileccolapussy Sorry to hear that! Mechrite Red is a Citadel Foundation Color, it's thicker and covers better than regular citadel paint. Good luck! =D
@johnkerry7 Yeah, I guess I'm lucky I kept myself from buying them when they came out. The added price isn't making me feel any better though...
Thanks for the compliment, and for clearing that up, it's been a while since I read the Vampire Wars books. That does make sense that he would have SOME necros around to summon his armies.
@Tim85axira Hmmm, I'm not sure. I read the Vampire Wars book, but I can't remember. I don't think they get very specific with how old the Von Carsteins looked as if they were human, only that they were handsom and regal, until they got into battle, when they would transform into bestial monsters.
@mafiamaster100 Sure! Corpse Cart is on the list, as soon as I can find one =D
What up 2011 playa!
+Lewis James What up 2016 playaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! =P
Freaking awesome dude im speachless maybe a tutorial on the corps card next time ?
@WarbossTae would like to see your take on high elf mages/monsters if u had any for the storm of magic set or wood elf mysitics :D
Thanks! And I agree! Finecast is RUBBISH! I'm just a glutton for punishment, I guess hahaha!
The original Batman!
@WarbossTae thank you!!!so i have to buy mechrite red,is it a citadel color?i can't wait to paint all my old models that i still have...one time i had like 400 figures...but my father trew all away....:( models painting stuff etc etc
@1996justus Thank you very much!
@WarbossTae Haha! true on the last bit...
but I don't know his fluff...is his hair really grey(ish?)
@johnkerry7 do you wash joure metal models with soap ? because there is a greasy layer on every metal model id have the same chip problem my game shop owner told me about it So now i wash my models with anti grease and it helps alot
His sword is bent.
I'm sure the ladies don't mind.
I thought it was funny.
HEYOOOOH!!!
Hey Tae, I was wondering since your doing all this spooky stuff. I noticed that you are doing vampire counts and was wondering can you do a tutorial on how to paint a vampire count corpse cart as I'm after buying a battalion and don't have any idea on how to paint the thing
exscuse me warboss,I LOVE how you paint and all of these painting guide for some awesome model liked konrad. He 's my favourtie model in warhammer....and i bought one this summer, and he is still there waiting to be painted...becuse i 've stoped painting 3 years ago,but i want him be painted,SO,i want to paint him good, and i have to ask you HOW you have painted the armor, beacuse i'm italian and i haven't understand how you've painted it in the video:) thanks :)
Very good tutorial!!! but i don´t understand the english spoken.... Can you explain how you've painted the skin of the face? Thanks!!!
hahaha my VC is actually woefully small and pathetic. I have a lot of character models and almost no troops hahaha! I'll show it one day, once I beef it out so people don't laugh at me =D
I’m probably the only person painting this dude in 2024 😂
I salute you, you absolute legend!
@@WarbossTae Hah! Getting back into it and using him as a vampire lord in Age of Sigmar - thanks for the video!
@maxrice6990 You got it! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@Phile700 Thanks!
@kruellag Yes, you're right haha! Me too =P
haha excelent job, too bad the left blade is a bit twisted, take care!
Thanks! Yeah lol I hate when my Finecast models have "Bendy Sword Syndrome"
lol What up toobies?! Alexandra will be after you!
Lol now this mold is just a regular Vampire Lord
Wildform 2202 stupid AoS ...
just asking the left hand sword handel is bend a little bit. i hate fincast.
@Davejimjr =D
i hate GW for making all the models that i have for VC into "finecast".... I hate the fact that my metal models chip just by picking them up...however i cannot justify buying the same model over again...
even though this looks fantastic!
oh and he did use necormancers because he didnt use magic ;)
what about his hair?
Thanks! I actually dont really care for the look of the model! I think it might be the bald head hahaha!
@RangerMJ =P
Great painting (as always) !
However, the quality of finecast figures is rubbish.
Why didn't you say 'all up in dis mud'?... lol
Hahahaha I must've still been getting used to my new catchphrase!
