  • Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes are joined by Chris Broussard to give their thoughts on the first two episodes of the Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance", chronicling the last year that MJ played with the Chicago Bulls. Nick tells Kevin and Broussard that Michael Jordan proved early that he would be great, and that most great NBA players establish an iconic status very early in their careers. Plus Kevin talks Scottie Pippen's contract, and Broussard tells why he believes that the Chicago Bulls three-peat team was broken up prematurely, and a perfect example of why the players of today are focused on taking their future into their own hands.

I watched Michael his whole career and the thing that stood out the most to me was I forgot how incredibly athletic and driven he was. Watching some of his highlights including the 63 point effort against the Celtics brings back those memories. As a huge Celtics fan I have to say he is the best I have ever seen. It is good to show this to the younger fans who have not had the opportunity to watch the great Michael Jordan.

Sooooo underrated. He led MJ in 3 or more of the 5 main categories (points/rebounds/assists/steals/blocks) in FOUR of their 6 Finals.
In JUST the 6 seasons the Bulls won JUST Pip made 5 All NBA Teams & SIX All Defensive Teams (with Horace & Rodman both also making an All Defensive Team).
While in Lebrons ENTIRE NINTEEN YEAR CAREER he's had teammates make 5 All NBA Teams (Wade in '11/'12/'13, Kyrie in '15, & AD in '20) & literally JUST TWO All Defensive Teams (Varejao in '09 & AD in '20).
He was a top 3-8 player in the league most of those seasons they won. Like Lebrons had to do (except he's had to ALSO do the scoring & defense) Pip did everything for the Bulls. He handled the rebounds, playmaking, took the other teams best player on d, etc so Mj could focus on scoring & important key spurts of elite defense.
Imagine having '16-'19 Kawhi but he's ur 4th-6th highest paid player on ur team lol. He'll of an advantage.

In fact once Jordan retired and was old and out of the way for good, The Pacers made the Finals and eventually lost to a PRIME Kobe and Shaq in 6. That was an older version of Reggie Miller but still crafty with Jermaine O'neal and veterans but not the same team from the 90s. This is what separates Jordan from Lebron. -Lebron came into the league at 19 (& was MUCH better as a 19 year old in the league than Kobe was lol). He was 21 & avgd 36/8/6 on 51% shooting 😳 his 1st playoff series.
-MJ came in at 21. He was 21 & avgd 29/6/9 on 43% shooting his 1st playoff series.
-Duncan at 21. He was 22 & avgd 20/10/3 his 1st playoff series.
-Kobe at 18. He was 19 & avgd 8/1/1 his 1st playoff series.
Notice Kobe....nless ur Lebron or Luka most guys struggle as TEENAGERS in the NBA lol. Him & Lebron had the 2 hardest ramp ups of the other top 10 pf all time players......going from high school schedules & competition to NBA. Meanwhile MJ got to learn from 1 of the best coaches of all time for years at college (plus olympic coaching from Bob Knight... ANOTHER top coach of ALL TIME....oh wait then he gets a top 3 NBA coach of ALL TIME haha ). Looks like just ANOTHER advantage MJ had to help him.
Lebron actally showed elite playoff moments YOUNGER than MJ did lol. Lebrons bday is December while MJs is Feb.
As i said though what Nick was saying is in the PLAYOFFS they INSTANTLY were elite no matter how young they were (except for Kobe obviously).
-At 21 years old in Lebrons 1st playoff game he put up a 30 pt triple double lol
-Then when his FIRST playoff series was tied 2-2 he put up a 45/8/7 in game 5 & then 32/7/7 including 5 of the teams 7 points in overtime in the close out game 6....again all at age 21 & yoinger than MJ was in his 1st playoff series
-Then the next series avgd 27/9/6 vs 1 of the greatest defenses EVER & pushed that Pistons team that made 6 straight ECFs to 7 games with his best teammate in the series avging 11 points & Larry Hughes going down in game 2 lol.
But again he avgd 36/8/6 his FIRST playoff series at age 21 (which was better than MJs 29/6/9 PLUS was sloghtly younger then MJ). He IMMEDIATELY showed it 🤦🏼‍♂️

Before Jordan got to the NBA, he had already won a Gold Medal (with an amateur team), the Naismith, and a National Championship (where he hit the game winner and lead the game in rebounding). He was already on the rise.
