      I already had thought that but in all honesty this conversation is over played.. I love when they talk about mike and Lebron just tired of them being out against each other.. how about you this for an idea? Would MJ and LeBron be the be good teammates, is so who could beat them, would they go down as the best duo? Once this man leaves this world, the NBA better retire his number league-wide. Jerry West IS basketball. No accident that Michael Jordan's statement "I could never say I'm the GOAT, cause I've never played against the Jerry Wests, the Wilt Chamberlains..."... It wasn't false humility, its ultimate respect. World is a better place because of people like Jerry West. He's the definition of a "man's man" (like he said about MJ): thoughtfull, caring, gracious, honest and intelligent mentally and emotionally. This man is CLASS. If mj could have played in that era. He scores what he wants in that weak era. Wilts playoff scoring average drops 8 points a game facing the best players while mjs goes up. Every season wilt went to the playoffs his numbers went down . Feast on the weak, thats how he had great regular season stats. Can you imagine mj winning a championship without being not only the team leading scorer but the games leading scorer? That was what happened to wilt. He took a back seat offensively.

And Kyrie has the best handles, but the carrying rule during Pistol's era would cause Kyrie some turnovers on penalty. Pure dribbling by the original rules makes it Pistol Pete, and he definitely is in the great shooter category as well. He was a pure point guard in the pros and didn't shoot as much as he did at LSU.

    As a very long time Knick fan (66 years old) like so many others I'll never forget Jerry nailing that 63 foot shot to force OT (game 3 at the Forum) which amazingly NY won. For your youngster's, there wasn't a 3 point shot back then (1970) or LA would've taken the game and most likely the series. The Knicks & Lakers meet again in '72 & '73 , each team winning one. FYI, Phil Jackson played a large part in the Knicks second title run (1973) with strong defense, rebounding and overall agresivness. Took the Knicks 7 in 1970 but only 5 in 1973. If I recall correctly, the Knicks weren't expected to go so deep in the playoffs that year but they sucked it up and played the spring of their lives in some cases. What NY fan will ever forget the great Jerry Lucas playing like he turned back the clock 10 years much like Willie Reed!!!!!! Loved that team

    The "logo" Jerry West would have been a superstar in any era of the NBA. He had great athleticism and was a great shooter and passer and had the size to match up with other guards from any era. Mr. Clutch would average 40 in todays' game.

      No he couldn't. If he couldn't do it then he couldn't do it today. We that watched the brutal 80s and 90s defenses beat up on teams are amazed at mo defense being played today. Well in the 60s and 70s there wasnt any either . Plus it was a faster played pace and against more athletic players , his scoring would actually go down.

    Finally someone talking about modern day players being allowed to carry the ball - but he called that a part of the evolution of the game which I don't agree with - it gives an extremely unfair advantage to the offensive player. Carrying needs to be cleaned up fast.

    • @rafaelchang6570
      @rafaelchang6570 Před 4 lety +1

      Load management ... Not defending strategy ...saving energy strategy ...and all those thing is unrespectful to the people, public, the team, ... The colleagues have to defend 4 vs 5... No...That is not right...just in kinder or elementary school expect this behavior

    • @reubenuy8451

      He probably doesn’t think much of it

    • @nevermindthe90s
      @nevermindthe90s Před 4 lety

      I think he was hired to do a job and the same as when he was a player, he finds a way to be the most efficient under the circumstances to deliver. If this job was to deliver a championship, I'm sure he doesn't lose sleep over load management, even though it might make him sick in his stomach. If his job was to deliver the most compelling experience to the fans - now that's a different story, you still need to factor in the thirst for a championship in the fans, but you also weight in the lack of Kawhi in some of the games where fans would expect him. This might be difficult for him, because it's logically inconsistent. Anyways, the way you remain sane in todays world is either follow someone's lead - in which case you transfer responsibility to them - ,or if it really makes you sick, you quit your job. He clearly didn't quit his, so he believes he makes the right moves. Consider load management and Rodman's couple days off in Vegas. Mr West was praising Phil Jackson on how he handled that. I don't think that he has anything against how Doc is handling Kawhi. It's really up to Kawhi, again in this interview, Mr West says that Rodman had a great work ethic and instinct - even though we know he had substance abuse and other stuff that clouded the game - if Kawhi works in practice and gives his all in games he plays, I think it would be fair in Mr West books. If Kawhi gets special treatment, and then doesn't show the heart of the champion.. now this would change Mr West mind quickly.

    Jerry West refers to MJ as the best athlete ever. Jerry West said that if MJ was active today, in this era with no hand checking free to walk around the court with no defender touches him(as it happens today) he would have done unbelievable things. When Jerry West speaks everyone else keeps his mouth shut. Dedicated to the millennials who always say ....MJ couldn't stand in the modern NBA. You were blind but now you see.

    • @GeneralBulldog54
      @GeneralBulldog54 Před 4 lety +1

      I'm a millennial and I saw Jordan play or at least remember him barely after the end of the Bad Boy Pistons era and vividly remembering the second 3-peat years. Point being, his play was such that he didn't need the super teams like we have today. It's partly why I respected Kobe's play at willing his teams to victory, much like Jordan, his only issue was staying too long. Jordan, would will his teams to victory and if he's having that rare off night he made sure that other players be it Scottie or Rodman get the team on track. It's why it always fascinates me that his Hornets teams haven't improved to his level of competitiveness during his tenure as owner.

    When the NBA's logo speak. We listen. This seems to be a 2 mins interview. Just enjoy listening to him. So articulate and his high admiration on MJ. I don't know why people does'nt that on Mj, he was hard only on the court on practice coz he is really comitted. But outside the court, you can see how light he was with the people around him. I think people that dislike Mike are just jealous. Or so much ego that can't accept MJ is better than him or his the GOAT
