  • The portable Sangean DT-400W makes a great AM FM Stereo Public Alert Pocket Radio. The Evening reception is wonderful! No interference from the Display, and distant stations are plentiful. The sensitivity and selectivity is rock solid.

Overall, I recommend this radio if you can find it. The LCD Display is extremely easy to read, tuning is a breeze, and reception is Tops! If you can not find it the DT-200X is a great, low cost alternative.

I just purchased this radio from a friend today for $25, it’s in great shape. I have always wanted own this radio, after watching your reviews. I’m glad I bought it, it has fantastic reception on both bands and weather band is always a plus. It’s almost a perfect pocket radio, great for walking. This is my 3rd Sangean, they are great radios. Now I need the DT-200X :). Thanks always for the reviews and making your channel FUN.

My gold standard radio. Yes, it is still sold, though a bit more expensive on EBAY at times. I have two of them, and will buy another one for future use. Great on FM and AM, with several Weather channels audible. Tried DT-800, great on FM yet some internal noise on AM at times. Overall, the DT-800 is good and interesting radio. Oh, love those Canadian stations. Visited CJBC 860 in 1979. Thank you for your reviews and band scans. Good health, success and good listening in 2021.

This would be my camping/hiking radio for its features, rugged build and performance. I've done a thorough 'backyard' reception test. It is basically the best pocket portable in my current collection. It was purchased as a 'refurbished' online for $37.95.
Why refurbished? It will get "beat up" a lot quicker than my pampered home radios. Absolutely no complaints.

Some chuffing on adjacent AM, still my favourite radio. Yes, as of 12/25/2022, still on the market (especially on EBAY for about $80 to $120).

if weather alert is important to you...keep in mind that the c.crane pocket radio will not allow you to receive alerts if you are listening to the radio..sounds crazy but true...that is a liability in my opinion...The DT400w will send the alerts while you are listening to the am/fm.

This DT400 and the DT200 are great Radio's, so is the CC Pocket and Skywave ssb. I think that ALL Emergency radios should/MUST have a external Antenna Jack to be able to plug a External Antenna into the Headphone jack for Much better reception is great dual function. an Emergency Radio and No plug external antenna? other MFR's missed the boat on that feature, sure a Clip on 20 foot wire antenna works, but now a days even a external MW/AM and fm/sw External antenna's plug into same jack.

DT-400 can be switched to the international MW tuning steps of 9 khz, 531-1602 ( or 1611 khz ). Push the down tuning button and power switch. Push up for 10 khz. Ditto for DT-800, DT-200 and DT-110. DT-110 can tune 522-1710 khz in 9 khz tuning steps, nice little radio.

Perhaps you have an explanation for this. I was just looking on Amazon at this particular radio and there are others that are almost the same but don’t have the weather alert written on the front of the radio. Also the one you are showing in this video is about $49 and the other ones which seem to be the same radio are about $77. I’m wondering if one or the others are the newer or later models? I realize different sellers post different prices but for such a substantial increase I’m wondering if there is a substantial difference as well? If you get a chance to check this out please let me know. Thanks 😊

If it is the Black model , it is the DT-200X , does not have Public/Weather Alerts. If it is yellow or red and is a Sangean DT400W it is a weather radio.

    C. Cranes version is similar to the 800 by Sangean. The real difference is sensitivity. C.Crane hands down and the 400 is my choice for Sangean.
On occasion I can pick up London on the MW 3600 miles and sometimes Havana Cuba approximately 1300 miles from S.E. PA or Phila.😊
