I really wanted to like this radio, but I didn't get on with it at all. I bought it to take on a 6 state motorcycle road trip with me. I have a Midland ER 310 which is very easy to use and a great radio, but I got this xhdata because it's smaller and has USB C, so it could share charging cables with my other devices. My problem with it is that it's not intuitive at all, beyond the tuning wheel and the volume control. The primary and secondary functions of the buttons are sometimes reversed, and it's just an unnecessarily complicated menu system. In Bluetooth it doesn't sound a great deal better than my ancient Pixel 3. The tuning knob was squeaky and kept binding. You get what you pay for of course but the function could be improved massively. I returned it.

Sounds like a pretty neat radio but I don’t like the design or the price. I am buying the Raddy RF 757 instead, which I hope that you will review soon.

Fun Time Tuning in Hams with this Low Cost Receiver.

Ive had one of these for a month now and it’s been used everyday on construction sites in 90 degree weather with no problems, and the first set of batteries. Yes it’s plasticity but with the included case it’s plenty durable. Also, everyone that sees it/hears it, loves it.

That's the exact radio I had and used and loved way back when. It was great.

I've been using this Nichia version as my EDC for 6 months now and it has been great. Recently I got myself a cool white version (to give as a gift). I tested the CW side by side with the Nichia, both using Eneloops, and was surprised that the CW version was floodier and the Nichia has a noticably tighter hot spot. For a light this size and modest lumens, I appreciate the extra throw in the Nichia version.

Fun to do the bandscans on the MW band. Back in my day we had all different types of formats across the MW band. In the late 1970s I had stations like WLS, CKLW, and even KAAY, which played hard rock and progressive rock overnight on something called “Beaker Street”. News was always on KMOX or WBBM. Even WCKY played a softer blend of music at night. And there’s always sports somewhere too. Unfortunately it’s not like that anymore on a lot of the stations mentioned here, among other. The Late Brother Stair is actually on a local station, which is a new low. Yes, MW has changed, big time. There are still some stations that are holdouts, like your 1500. Here, pretty much, 1220 is a classic rock station.

I'm researching for my great-grandnephew's 11th birthday. Is there one of this style that has replaceable rechargeable battery, headphone jack, AM band higher than 1620, and is under $50?

Nice Old School radio from back in the day! I own the GE Super Radio series 2 from the mid-90s that I pull out on occasion as it will pick up just about anything.

I used to work in a gigantic food distribution warehouse, and the metal rack layout made receiving FM a real hassle. Many of us had the GE Super Radio because it just worked and was loud enough to hear over the usual warehouse noise.

I have to admit that I've always been a big fan of GE radios. I've had a quite a few of them over the years, and I've never had one that was a bad performer.

The battery life of this radio is phenomenal. I go months between changing batteries. I use it everyday for atleast an hour. I think it lasts longer if you only use it on AM. It's totally worth the 20 bucks or so on ebay.

This looks identical to my DPR-99 Plus but it's an FM/RDS & DAB+. I love it for casual listening in my bedroom as I get more DAB channels than AM and FM combined. I have 4 other Sangeans all different specs. Great little radio's. I also have the Tecsun 330, 600 and 660. That's about 992 less radio's than you!😂👍🤠🇦🇺

I live in the USVI(Virgin Islands) and after Hurricane Maria hit in 2017 I bought this radio for the house because we were without power for months. My sister couldn't figure out how to use it. She’s a senior. I was going to give it away but I like it. I am going off-island for a few months but when I come back shi h will be in the midst of hurricane season I will listen to this CZcams tutorial.

Hi Todderbert, thanks for the review. Wow, the Skilhunt EC200S-Mini flashlight looks very, very nice. Oh yes, I love small, compact flashlights. And speaking of Skilhunt, my Skilhunt E2A 14500/AA 600 lumens pocket EDC mini LED flashlight arrived on Monday. So it will be interesting to test the Skilhunt E2A EDC mini LED flashlight later this year when it gets dark outside because right now it's bright day and night up here in northern Sweden. I'm also still waiting for the Acebeam Pokelit AA upgraded version EDC flashlight with 1000 lumens, but yes, I love the Skilhunt E2A EDC mini flashlight in the short time I've had it. It has very good knurling on the body. So yes gonna look up the Skilhunt flashlights more take care Todderbert and have a nice day.

I've been DX-ing with this one at night. The upper AM bands always seem to be busy. I'm sure those TV bands are outdated, but I seem to pull in some local FM stations on them. I really like this radio although I'm sure there are more convenient "portables" to be had.

Does the solar panel actually charge? I've tried 2 other radios and despite charging fully then putting in the sun the solar panel will not keep the radio charged.
