I have put myself out of the misery of diet trends ever since I started following you. I turn back and look and feel that it was my karma that made me suffer all these years. I used to be totally dissatisfied with food, unhappy with my weight, pissed off with my discipline; despite being a very positive person, I used to be internally incomplete. Today, I feel that I am normal person, working towards a sensible health goal and inspired to eat the food i love without guilt. You have bought out the happy person in me. And god bless you for that!! for the first time, I decided to chuck out all numbers; (number of calories, carbs, fat or protein grams, number of steps, number on my weighing machine,) and focus on connecting my brain to my stomach and every other part of my body. I think all these days, my brain and my stomach were in two different zones. Thank you, thank you and thank you a zillion times

I never followed any diet trend. I always thought my nani never did any kind of diet plus never went to gym. She lived until ninety and died without any diseases. Why the hell give your hard earn money to dieticians and Gym. Make your home your gym and Nani the diet guru.
Thanks Rujuta. You are doing a great job.

Thank you Rujuta ji for stressing so much on local and our heritage of food. While whole world wants to discover the secrets of our ancient Indian traditions. We search it outside and get influenced but we need more people like you to bring awareness to general people so that we (general mass) develop a sense of pride and have confidence in our traditions and traditional food.

It's been only 7 days since I read your book,( don't lose your mind, lose your weight) and started watching your vedios on local Indian food, and I have changed my way of eating (especially I have started eating Ghee). I don't know whether I have lose my weight or not , but one thing I am feeling constantly from the very first day that I am feeling good, happy and satisfied with the food I am eating.
And I hope I will lose weight too In long term.
    Thank you so much ma'am.💝

Hi ! I’m a nutritionist based in Chandigarh! I struggle everyday to make people understand the importance of genetic and local food !People find it very boring and not fashionable! They are not happy unless you put them on kiwis and black coffee s !
I really wish the world becomes aware of the importance of simple home cooked organic meals !!

hifisumz The best thing to do is source things that are organic and fresh (not frozen) Eat more pulses and grains ! Have dry fruits and nuts .You can eat eggs as they have a decent shelf life ! Opt for meat that is not processed! And dairy if the cattle is ethically raised.

gauri jadhav agree!! Also she must take 100 normal people from all over the country and guide them and let us all see how they do over 1 year. Film stars are all young and very fit with best nutritionists, cooks, fitness trainers and these people are already very fit. It would be great if she did this with normal people with diabetes, hypothyroidism women etc and see if they are getting cured. 50% of all women in india are hypothyroid latest teaser has shows. If she is truly selfless, she must do things free also.

Hats off Rujuta. Now a days we have same common vegetables to every vegetable vendor and we buy the same( example simla mirch ,duddhi, kobi, bhendi, tomato, corn etc.).And now we get all the fruits and vegetables in all seasons so we have forgot what is seasonal for mainly Indian.
So please write an article or give a link to the article about ,"what are seasonal vegetables, fruits, food we should eat as staying in India".
I agree with you we listen to the media more or whats trending more, when we were kids we had no TV and mobile phones or electronic gadgets when we were small but now our children and we ourself are mostly busy in the gadgets instead of walking, jogging, exercise, meditation ,yoga. Now a days our children are becoming more aggressive, hot tempered, and more violent video games and movies are to be seen ,so our children don't know how to control their emotions, how to be patient.I would like all school and colleges should start a period of yoga or meditation(which will help our improve our children's concentration level, grasping capacity and emotionally and mentally they will grow strong) of atleast 20 minutes.

There is this building... An organization called the asiatic society. It stands grandly at the opening corner of park street Kolkata. We read in history, that the asiatic society helped Indians understand their heritage and past glory.. And thus.. Was one of the factors of developing an urge for freedom. Dear rujuta.. Whenever I see that building... It reminds me of you. It is now a little drab looking.. But it reminds me of someone with a lot of vibrancy.

    Dear Rujuta,
I am a great fan of yours and your principles about eating. And I agree with you that whatever our grandmothers ate and told us to do is the best way to lead a healthy life. I am also a person who believes in eating locally grown food. My concern is that a lot of Indians are settled abroad and we still cook food the way my mother or grandmother cooked and we are so used to eating ‘our’ food that we get rice, dal etc from Indian stores abroad. Then we are not eating locally .... what do you think about this? Should we stick to our culture and eat the same food or adapt to the place where we live?

In this case, she says, inquire about where the food comes from, and choose the nearest possible place. Eg., Crops grown in north America are imported in Canada. So, the dry ingredients such as pulses and grains remain the same, but the fruits, such as various berries in case of Canada, should be local.

Agreed Indian diet is best....there is good health benefits in every morsel if food we eat.......but I have been intermittent fasting for the past 15 years or more....I followed this diet from a holistic health book titled "Danavanthri"written by an eminent Indian author ,where the focus is on giving your intestine rest from solids from a good breakfast till evening with only mixed fruit juice for lunch & plenty of water in the afternoon ......for supper, we focus more on soup with plenty of fresh COOKED vegtables.......I have our full meal platter also for breakfast alternate tingly our idlis, dosas, upma, paratas etc. etc. for breakfast.........:& so far, this works out well for me........I have slight arthritis problem, but is very much under control ,........ Your focus on Indian food habits is good..as I am happiest eating Indian food, there is something about it that makes you feel fresh, energetic & satiated...I have tried going on sandwiches & other western food, but nothing compares to our Indian traditional food....it definitely is a bundle of energy.............but regarding your comment on being kicked by the bygone story of being kicked by the British, I beg to disagree, I went to the U.K.on aholiday, I find them to be very pleasant, polite & cultured race.......on the contrary, they have every reason to be proud of their meticulous attitude to life...they are perfectionists in every sense, we Indians, have a lot to learn from them............in fact me, being an Indian, I was brought up in India untill we moved to Nigeria when I was fifteen years old, then got married when I was 22 years old, & have lived in India ever since, ........I see a lot of discrimination in India now more than ever based on the colour of skin, but with a difference, the tables have turned, the fair skinned & meticulous people are booted !!! & hounded, & socially isolated, so much so the far skinned & meticulous people are running out of the country in search of peace......sorry, but this is the truth...
