@@zephy936you might be right but I sincerely hope that someone talked to him about it afterwards (not that poor interviewer, I hope she didn’t have to interact with him any more than that) because it’s super important for him to learn that he was not being nice, just creepy. I’ve met a few people like that, one of whom became a good friend of mine. He wasn’t this creepy but he did act overly affectionate and it made me uncomfortable. I got up the nerve to mention it to him and explained that I hate being touched and need some personal space, and he was immediately understanding and apologetic and never got in my personal space again (and I noticed he was more mindful of personal space around our other friends too). Not everyone would have been so good about it- a lot of people would get defensive- but there’s a lot of genuinely good people who really don’t realize they come across a certain way, and will work to fix it if someone calls them on it. I myself am autistic and while no one has ever told me I’m creepy, they have occasionally mentioned a behavior that bothered them and it was extremely useful to me to know that so that I could change for the better.
Tbh, no clue if Vin Diesel is the sort of person to try and change his behavior if he was called on it- all I know about him is this video- but hopefully he is.
Also, just a friendly reminder for anyone reading this: if someone makes you uncomfortable, you don’t have to call them on it. If you think it might not be safe or if you are concerned that it may cause difficulties for you, please be careful and talk to a trusted person about it. I was able to talk to the person in this particular situation in a safe place (a classroom with only about nine students, one of whom was a friend to both of us already and helped me out) and was certain that I would not be in danger or anything, but if you aren’t sure about a situation, please prioritize your safety and wellbeing.
