I HATE HATE HATE absolutely HATE how a lot of companies are now replacing keys with touchscreens, on everything. Ticket kiosks at train stations/bus stops, coffee machines, wending machines, intercoms, elevator panels - all flat touch screens now. Hell, my washing machine has a touch screen with flat "buttons" instead of regular ones and it wasn't a fancy, expensive model, quite the contrary. How do you even navigate that as a blind/visually impaired person? It looks "futuristic', sure, but feels like a step back imo.

And this is why most Europeans have manual gear boxes!

in my literally professional urbanist opinion, just get a vw beetle. Its small, perfect for all weather city roads and fit for the odd camping trip. They achieved perfection to the point that it stayed mostly unchanged for like 60 years. It's the crab of the car world. The cybertruck can't handle a car wash, while a near stock 1961 beetle was sent to antartica. Elon musk managed to fail to do what the quintessential cheap work car did back in the 60s. It literally floats. (I am half joking, its a janky uncomfortable old car but it goes to show just how insane stuff got)

my car literally stopped turning on bc my battery was connected to 3g and now everything runs on 5g. i wasn’t aware of the 3g issue when i bought it. i’m still confused but strongly considering trading it in for something old that still runs

Another problem with the giant cars is the fact that the front is usually square-ish and not round. The reason why they should be round is becouse on impact, the hit is laid out in the car and you are more likely to get out just fine

I went to America last year and there are so many weird giant pug looking cars! The reason most cars have a sloped hood is if you hit someone they’ll get pushed onto your bonnet and windscreen, if you get hit by a giant pug car you’re basically guaranteed to get dragged underneath the car to get ground into a fine red paste by the wheels!

I drive my brother's old volkswagen and manual gears and buttons just make me feel so in control and secure. Every time I have to use an automatic gear or touch screen car, sure, I'm just not used to it, but I think even if I were, I'd never achieve the same level of comfort and feeling of control and safety and start panicking upon mishaps much more easily because of what your own example brought forth, there's lack of input as to what I've done wrong which can be absolutely crucial in avoiding accidents. I'm terrified of the day when I inevitably have to start driving a car like that for monetary reasons

i’m so happy i have the car i do <3 i have a 2002 chevy and it has literally everything i need. it has good air and good sound system (two important things for someone who is emo in arizona </3) but the only modern thing(s) in it are the radio (which now is just blue tooth, CD, and radio compatible !) but also a dash cam bc like i said earlier arizona. i don’t understand the need to make everything convenient. feels unnatural:(
