Chrysler's are also notorious for faulty latch adjusters. And roller rocker bearings. Especially the pentastar V6.
When you hear the tick tick tick on those, it is most likely the camshaft coming into contact with the rockers. Scoring the cam....nice and deep.
Oh so deep.
Ahhhhhh.
I'm sorry. I think Its just Too much talking about scoring, banging, constant pressurw in little gaps And head work to stay focused over here. Sorry guys/girls. I will just go away now. Before I end up disrespecting the nose of your lancer.

Man honestly I just recently started watching your video's but you guys are friendship goals.... You are so civil with each other in these videos. I feel like so many channels try to market off of outrageous personalities but you just get to work and chat. Its incredibly refreshing. I also wish I had a sick evo to play around with but all I have is an RVR in Canada :p Thank you guys for the awesome content!!

Some shows ( Like A#@!$#@!$ monkey ) rely on fake drama. In real life no, shop could survive with such chaos just as no doctor in a hospital could survive with constant pressure.
that's how mates work on cars. We talk about cars, then gardening, then the engineering designs of automotive industries, tooling, then philosophical subjects, then finish off with some kabobs.

I know its been a year since this vid, but i have to say I'm so appreciative for these hour-long episode nuggets that MCM pumps out for us every now and then. Being able to chill out with stuff like this (and a few rumbos) on a saturday evening definitely makes it the best time of the week. The Japan trips are some of the best auto film I've ever seen... Ever. You guys are thoroughly entertaining, but moreso, genuine and honestly engaging. Just a few of the many amazing qualities that makes MCM not only one of the greatest car channels on YT, but also one of the best in general. Thank you for making so much golden hoony goodness for us to binge on over the years. Cheers from Brissy! 🤙🍻
My nose feels completely disrespected right now... but I’m loving it. DNOG crew
I have not been following MCM super close for very long. However, I love this type of video. Just a couple of buds working on a sweet ride and bs'ing about cars. Well done boys!

The best upgrade ever is to install the hydraulic adjusters from a 3000GT-VR4 into the Gen 1 4G63s. They drop right in, but the oil passage is much bigger. They don't clog up like stock ones.
Great advice! btw, the 3000GT was underrated and underappreciated! my friend had one and I liked it a lot.
think they would fit in the 6g75?
@@popanda3652 No idea. I've got no experience with the 6G75. I would check DSM forums.

@SenselessTuning I didn't think we were talking about stock engines. I wouldn't personally drop those lifters into a bone stock engine. The 4G63s I did this mod in were making 400hp+. I also, as mentioned in this vid, was meticulous with choosing oil quality, composition and viscosity.

If you want reality car TV , this is it.
I know you both have never talked $$$ spent on your builds/modifying because of labor rates and friends time spend on building stuff, but.... I would love to see a dollar to horsepower comparison between the VW and the EVO. Car cost + MSRP of spent mods + maintenance "shop supplies" divided by horsepower!!!
Update: Thanks for all the positive responses and thoughts. To be honest I do not think this kind of thing is either of there "styles", I am glad I am not the only one who would be interested, but I would rather see them compare cars the way they want to! I think we all appreciate what MCM puts out as content!!
I think the revo stuff moog did is premium dollar stuff, prob pretty $$$$$$
Evo wins in that category by far
Makes complete sense. I will love to see that too.

Please continue to post long video's like this. I put them on in the background while driving long distances and I love it. A bit like an informative, friendly podcast with visual support! :D
YOU ARE SPOT ON! Your learn as you go approach is unique to video and what makes your show one of my favorites. Also, the angle you shotthe car on this one showed the EVO's best side in the best color.
One tip when using an ultrasonic cleaner. Don't place parts directly on the floor of the tank, use a screen / grid to keep them about 13 mm off the floor. This improves cleaning action dramatically.

you missed the perfect opportunity to put some cams in that motor :/

Love it guys, you torqued the coils to 8fltps without thinking, cool, needed more celebration at the end. So cool.
I love these episodes and the fact they keep things in when there is a mistake made. You learn a lot more from mistakes than getting everything right first time. No one is perfect and that's really a good thing, it allows us to improve as a species. This video/series is awesome keep up the great work guys.
BurntFaceMan If you want to turn the engine over a little put it in top gear gently rock the car you can turn the engine easily with this method much better than crawling around on the ground
Ya could've helped Marty by turning the cams, ya know.... Love these series!
Wasted spark ignition. Coil on plug with a pigtail. Beautiful
Marty change the ignition to the Spoolin Up coil on plug ignition system. Plug and play. Motor runs and idles smoother.
I personally use JD Customs COP kit. Cheaper, and still uses Denso coils. Plus you can get a CF plate as an option.

This is by far the best Disrespected Nose episode you've done so far! The no-digres thing worked heaps better... and that you kept the bash-each-others-cars-for-minutes to a minimum was also nice!
When replacing hydrolic tappets I was taught to disconnect the crank sensor and build oil pressure for 20 to 30 seconds on starter before I do a live start
Done them plenty of times. You can prime theme but there's no real difference... They'll see oil pressure eventually to take up slack, but you must oil soak and bleed them right and you'll be fine.
putting your coils in the wrong order also does the job :)
@@PHUSII that introduces fuel into the cylinders since the injectors will be firing, which can wash down past the cylinders and into the oil pan and reduce the oil's ability to lubricate
Just soak them in oil, and take the fuel pump fuse out

Evolf... The better one always goes first. I cant wait for your guys flavor on a yaris... Great thing about you guys, dont have to wonder if you will do the things you say like other channels. Thanks for the long video cuts!
Uhm, just a thought: If you had left the plugs out, and cranked the engine with the starter, you could pre-fill the lash units, and get most of the lash out before starting the engine.
Same style of hydraulic lash adjusters on some Isuzu V6 engines. They take a LONG time to fill up once emptied. You should prime with cranking then let it run for at least a couple minutes.
Yeah, cranking the engine with a starter like that is a good idea after reassembly. Some more industrial engines have systems to bring up oil pressure before the crankshaft is allowed to spin, with external oil pumps or pressurized reservoirs similar to the Accusump that some engine builders use on cars.
Nissan SR's also share a very similar HLA or lifter. I was screaming internally when they were bleeding and didn't refill them with oil on the bench! SR life for me is Bleeding out what you can dry, then put them in some kero and bleed them in that and watch so much more gunk come out! Then a second kero bleed and then bleed dry and then finally refill with new clean oil on the bench using the same thin rod and pushing down technique before reinstalling them... I've never had to replace a lifter even in motors with 330k+ with services clearly few and far between.
And multiair fiats cut the injectors when you floor the car and crank the starter.
Awesome video guys, it’s such a peaceful soothing sound of metals, machine and vocals.

Read this comment, and turned up my playback speed. HILARIOUS! HAHA
Some tips for you guys:
Get a Kiggly Racing HLA regulator. It upgrades the factory regulator for the lifters to be a regulated oil feed. The stock one is just a restricted passage.
Also small allen wrenches work well to depress the bleeders since theyre tool steel. Paperclips and stuff bend easier.
Cheers! (I have a 11 second DSM and have done this job before)
EDIT: I SEE THE KIGGLY RACING BOX!
Bendy paperclips turn a 30min job into 2hrs trust me !
I’ve really enjoyed this video it was long and educational. keep up the good job! hope you guys make more videos this long.
One of those telescoping magnetic tipped tools is really useful to get spark plugs and bits of car parts out of hard to reach places.
Poor hydraulic lash won't hold the valve open. More likely it will reduce the opening and dwell time of the valve opening.
