The difference between an evo and a golf, when you bring the evo to the shop they offer to buy it.
And the repair cost of the Golf is close to the resale value
@@BAmoore905 Umm no that's not why... Idk about Australia but in the US Evo's that aren't blown are rare.
Evo's are rare, you can go get a new MK7R easy.
if the shop happens to be at a dealership or something i think they want to buy any car no matter what. They really seemed to want my base impreza after my last recall visit lol
@@Osprey1994 We have the ability to import Evo 6,7's and 8's from Japan if we choose to so its a lot easier to get your hands on one over here if you want it.

You Aussie's know how to build/package a product. Haltech and GFB parts are so well packed they make it stateside better than stateside parts.

Just a word of advice from a fellow evo9 owner; I advise on upgrading your tcase and rear diff if you’re hitting power beyond 400bhp. Especially if you’re going to be hitting the drag strip and dumping the clutch at 4K rpm.
The weakest part of evos are the transmission and drivetrain- not the engine.
I would hate to see you blow something on your driveline launching trying to beat the R!!
yea have repaired a few transfer cases on these, common as fuck, and when they go they usually take the bellhousing with them lol. Evo lyf.
I was at a workshop recently and they had an Evo that had munched the gearbox launching it. Looked like someone had detonated a grenade in it lol

What options are we looking at?
Probably shouldn't be dumping the clutch at 4k rpm though, I would advise a bit more rpm so it doesn't bog down and also slipping the clutch on the initial launch to take some of the shock out of it. Simply dumping the clutch over and over will definitely lead to disaster
For sure. Owned 3 evos and currently own a Galant vr4 with 400awkw and a tmz built transfer and dog box.
Blown 3 boxes so far. Started happening at about 380hp. Had to detune it while the box was being built

Exactly the same! Roadkill lost two fans and MCM gained two :D I've never looked back.
I still watch roadkill when they put out a free episode, Which seems to be about every other month
I realised that Roadkill is on Amazon Prime. I already had Amazon Prime so Roadkill is still technically free!

I feel you should put a disclaimer that these aren't boring videos. When I seen the length of the first Evo rebuild I was like f*ck that's almost an hour long. Finally got around to watching it and it sure as hell didn't feel that long lol.

It is a(nother) Haltech advert, after all.
Well, in my case the ECU went bad, so. . .
Now it's 7 months later, and they fixed a check engine light by replacing the engine.

One thing that really impresses me about this channel is how well everyone works together to get everything sorted.
Haltech is great! I have had my elite 1000 for going on 3 years in my daily. Worked in -26 this past winter (northern US) zero complaints. 10 out of 10 would fall in love with again!
Also, pick that stock ECU back from the bin MOOG it's worth money man!

Might be in line for the turbo upgrade that comes after he gets chopped by a Golf.
@@ArtosDeDraconum Marty and Tuning Fork did discuss how much power they should set it at - more was possible, but they didn't want to blow the engine. So more power means a rebuild with a stronger bottom end. Lotsa dollars.... and the Golf R will still have the dsg advantage
