That's why if you look (especially in big cities) some traffic lights (not all, but some of the newer ones) have cameras on them that automatically take a picture every time someone runs a red. Even if the cops aren't physically there the camera still catches them. That's also why it's wise to have a dashcam.

my friend was in an accident a week or 2 ago. he was knocked out on impact for a couple of minutes, but what we think happened is that each roadway leading to the intersection had turning lanes, he was trying to turn right and the car that hit him, even though that driver was in a turning lane, they went straight through the intersection, hit my friend, who was sent into a sign and up a curb and spun about 180 degrees. the car that hit him spun about 90 degrees. my friend is fine now, but he lost his job because he had no way to get there and was already struggling financially. and his insurance company doesnt want to represent him for the lawsuit anymore, even though its a pretty open and shut case because 1, he's a marine veteran, and 2, when he was serving, he was an MP, meaning he has an emergency vehicle license, and was trained in defensive and offensive driving and i already mentioned number 3, which is the fact that the car that hit him ignored the red light and drove straight through a turn only lane
This is why I always glance at both intersecting lanes before proceeding during a green light. If you assume that other drivers don't know what they're doing, you may avoid an accident. 🤙🏼

6 weeks after i moved back to my home city in 2020 i was walking across the street in the crosswalk with the light when an older guy in a car that was turning looked one way but not the other and hit me just hard enough to knock me over but he still hit me and since then I've been almost hit another 8 time by drivers not paying attention.
I do what I was taught when I cross the street walking. Before I drive through any intersection, I look both ways. It has saved me from almost getting hit a few times by someone thinking they can still make their light even though mine is GREEN and there's is RED!

I could feel the car was so close to hitting the front bumper and the shaking it made as it whizzed by was really terrifying. It was one of the scariest thing I've ever experienced in my life thinking if I had gone earlier, the other car could have possibly taken my and my sister's life who was riding home with me. Now, every green light, I would always look left and right before going. Stay safe guys.

Had this happened to me, similar. Had a white charger behind me, didn't think it was a cop. Got to a red light that went green, the car in the opposing lanes ahead was in the left turning lane so obviously he had to wait until I turned right when green(I was going the same direction when turning onto street as they were). I go and noticed at the last sec that they did as well even though I had the right away, and the street we turn on eventually merges into a 1 lane from 2. Car speeds up from behind next to me and right when we're about to merge too, so I decided to avoid an accident and sped up to get ahead. Immediately after, I saw red and blue lights behind their car and realized it was a cop behind me that turned too and witness the car tried to speed(limit was 35mph, the person had to do 45-50 to be able to catch up since I went first at the light) passed me and turned when I had the right away. I couldn't believe it too and was fortunate to have that charger be an officer.

The street they turned onto was a 2 lane street that merged into 1. Maybe 10 years ago I assumed folks would stop for their red light and charge ahead with my green light. No longer, I make sure they are stopping before going ahead. Kudos to the police going after the driver, preventing future t-bone accidents at intersections helps us all.

About a week ago my girl and I were headed home and a truck ran a light just like that, I was looking down at the time and I guess he was within a foot or so of nailing us. I was pissed instantly because I've been in 2 accidents already 1 of which left me injured and neither my fault. Driving is scary, and we always have to worry about other drivers. Im so glad you were ok . There are too many crosses on the side of the roads.

Another example of always look both ways at a green lights. Just because it’s green don’t mean you’re safe. People will honk instantly as it turns green but then complain when they are in an accident themselves
I look both ways when entering a one way road, too.
6 weeks after i moved back to my home city in 2020 i was walking across the street in the crosswalk with the light when an older guy in a car that was turning looked one way but not the other and hit me just hard enough to knock me over but he still hit me and since then I've been almost hit another 8 time by drivers not paying attention.
I do what I was taught when I cross the street walking. Before I drive through any intersection, I look both ways. It has saved me from almost getting hit a few times by someone thinking they can still make their light even though mine is GREEN and there's is RED!
In our town, when the light turns green, we have to wait for all the cars that will run the light before we go.

They'll suspend you for that if it's reported. Their T&C require vehicles to be mechanically sound. Donuts are designed for 50 miles of use below 55 mph, so you can drive it straight to a shop. They wouldn't last two hours of driving and still be considered sound.

I had my first experience of someone going so fast, I'd assume 100km/h, running a red light as I go on a green light. I could feel the car was so close to hitting the front bumper and the shaking it made as it whizzed by was really terrifying. It was one of the scariest thing I've ever experienced in my life thinking if I had gone earlier, the other car could have possibly taken my and my sister's life who was riding home with me.
Now, every green light, I would always look left and right before going. Stay safe guys.
I've seen too many accidents happen the way it almost happened to you that my wife and I always give it a couple moments before we go on green. Glad you're both ok!

Had this happened to me, similar. Had a white charger behind me, didn't think it was a cop. Got to a red light that went green, the car in the opposing lanes ahead was in the left turning lane so obviously he had to wait until I turned right when green(I was going the same direction when turning onto street as they were). I go and noticed at the last sec that they did as well even though I had the right away, and the street we turn on eventually merges into a 1 lane from 2. Car speeds up from behind next to me and right when we're about to merge too, so I decided to avoid an accident and sped up to get ahead. Immediately after, I saw red and blue lights behind their car and realized it was a cop behind me that turned too and witness the car tried to speed(limit was 35mph, the person had to do 45-50 to be able to catch up since I went first at the light) passed me and turned when I had the right away. I couldn't believe it too and was fortunate to have that charger be an officer.

The man is turning right at a green light the cars directly across from him there was a car turning his same way so that car was turning LEFT (because it mirrored his turn). The street they turned onto was a 2 lane street that merged into 1. The car behind him tried to speed up to pass him right before the merge ended but wasn’t able to.. cop caught the idiot who sped and almost caused an accident. I don’t understand how it’s that hard to understand lol :)

Maybe 10 years ago I assumed folks would stop for their red light and charge ahead with my green light. No longer, I make sure they are stopping before going ahead.
Kudos to the police going after the driver, preventing future t-bone accidents at intersections helps us all.

About a week ago my girl and I were headed home and a truck ran a light just like that, I was looking down at the time and I guess he was within a foot or so of nailing us. I was pissed instantly because I've been in 2 accidents already 1 of which left me injured and neither my fault. Driving is scary, and we always have to worry about other drivers. Im so glad you were ok . There are too many crosses on the side of the roads.
