- Apricots on Mars
Hello Friends! The Peaches in my garden are all ripe right now, I have been enjoying the delicious juicy fruit, but also have really been appreciating the subtle beauty of the colors on the Peaches. The lovely soft tones of Peach, yellow, deep red and a fuzzy white were the inspiration for this pour. I was excited to find Arteza Light Apricot in my colors and had a lot of fun choosing what colors to pair with it.
Colors:
Arteza Light Apricot
Liquitex Basics Red Oxide
Chroma Molten Metals Xanadu Gold
Golden's Van Dyke Brown
DecoArt Rich Espresso (flow extender)
Leftover Paint Mystery Color (Blickrylic Mars Black, Arteza Bordeaux Red, DecoArt Soft Gold)
Pouring Medium
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
a bit of water
Floetrol
3 Ring Pours. Layered Cup
24x36 gallery wrapped level 3 canvas
I show the dried painting at the end of the video, it dried beautifully!

I'm so grateful that you found acrylic pouring, it was your destiny
It looks like red rock!!!
Absolutely beautiful
Absolutely beautiful!!!!
I agree it’s so beautiful 😃😃😃
WOW I love those colors, I love it.
I am so glad to see you using paper cups to create your amazing art. Although there is a thin layer of plastic on the inside they are so much less polluting than all plastic cups.
So beautiful the color unbeleivable
This is a really expressive painting, you really do have a knack for choosing colours. The way I was looking at it made me think of a rocky landscape with a road curving through it. It truly is amazing what fruit can do 🍑
Thank you Deborah 🥰 I had laid off the peaches after eating so many but went and had one this morning again lol it was almost a spiritual experience with all the juice and flood of flavor..☺️ I've never tasted peaches like this before, we just moved to this country-ish area a few months ago. Its sooo different from the concrete city we were in before, I'm just loving it!
I've watched the video a bunch of times now and find myself wishing I hadn't tilted the last corner, which changed the shape of everything. But then I go inside and look at the painting and there is so much to see in it now. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🥰 much love
I love the colours. Fantastic pour.

Stunning!!! Love colors combinations!!! WOW WOW congratulations for sharing all your knowledge!!! Have a nice day!!
I love the color combination!! Beautiful piece!
The colours are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Love that palette !
Another beauty! I love how you explain your reasoning regarding the weight of the paint and show how to avoid pouring the pretty parts off the canvas. I also think it’s great how you further emphasize the use of paint outside the rings, so they roll over but not off the piece.
Thank you so much Jana! I'm so glad you found it helpful, I really appreciate your feedback, thank you! I hope you have a beautiful Sunday 🥰 much love to you
Mina Villegas Art 🥰

Let us all pay homage to the Queen of Pour. Another gorgeous piece of fun art. I have to laugh when you haul out that huge blow torch. I have a little 6" one. I have torch envy.
I'm cracking up at your 'torch envy' 😁 the Husband of Awesomeness will be tickled lol I'll ask him where he got it, probably home depot 😉 thank you Eileen! 🍑❤🥰

Thank you so much Liz! Have a beautiful day! 🌻
I'm such a beginner I am in absolute awe of what feels like a giant canvas...and your nimble 'stressless' handling... Wow. Just wow. Someday...
But I'd never have those goals if not for giving generous artists like you who share and therefore teach. Thank you. Sincerely.
This video was very helpful! I just learned from you that I've been rolling my paint over itself by not using enough flow extender. Thank you!
Loved it within 30 seconds and still watching to love it more! 😍
You're so sweet Cathryn! Thank you 🥰🍑❤

I love the effect of the placing the the rich dark brown in the cup first. it reminds me of a cavern deep with in a mountain. AWESOME RING EFFECT OH MAN! I love it! The colors are so beautiful! Thank you for your outside pouring videos.
So well done. What a talent! Love the colour choices. I would love to reach your level of pouring. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much! ❤
Freakin’ awesome
❤️❤️❤️
The drippings from 'yesterday' are so similar to a paint I love: Amsterdam Caput Mortuum Violet. It's beautiful
Beautiful beautiful .Still trying to not have muddy pours . I am working on your advise . Thanks
Mina, you cheer me up with this one, so beautiful...hugs from Oz
🥰 thank you Deborah
Love your work and commentary. Your garden and orchard look fantastic. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your videos. From the centre of Canada
Thank you so much Brenda! 🥰
So beautiful. I love watching you, you're so funny.
Thank you Lina! 🍑🥰❤
Your paintings are always so beautiful!! Do you use any silicone or cell enhancer?
Thank you Susan! No I dont use silicone.. you dont need it with a straight pour. I tend to get cells no matter what, the Liquitex pouring medium and the Floetrol do that. Also, I don't want to have to clean off silicone if I want to resin or varnish.
That's so beautiful! I always wondered where you put it to dry, you can't leave it there right?
Totally Loved this video for several reasons. First of f all it’s my fav color pallet!!! I could wear it daily in diff variations. Secondly,The red oxide became a soft enough ‘orange’ that it played well with purple!! Ahhh, fave. Sometimes in my palate I feel the need to add a tad of a screaming green. But this didn’t need any distractions. The colors came together beautiful, creating either an agate or Petrified Wood. And most importantly, your narrative ... of your thought process...where you were going or why you changed your mind made it easy to follow... I knew I had the right answers! Mina, I adore, love and envy your work! If I can get close ...ahhh!!! to dream. Need the space first. Are you in Cali? Where else could one do this outside? Thank you So much for sharing! I’m prob your newest and biggest fan! 🌝
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! I love your comment, you're so kind! Thank you for your feedback, it's nice to know! I hope you have a lovely day 🥰🌞🦋
Livery nice enjoyed watching your art. How did you prevent dust to land on your painting. Your advice will be appreciated. I’m looking forward to your next painting ☺️😘
Hi Norma! It's very windy here, so theres not a lot of dust sitting around.. I put wet paintings in my Tuffshed to dry, I get moths landing in them not dust Haha. There are mesh domes that you can get to cover your wet paintings, or you could put them inside a big box with some air holes to prevent things from landing in it. I hope this helps.. good luck!
Stunning! I love earthy colours. How long have you been painting? Are you a full time artist? I SO love your process and how light hearted your approach is. Cuz some days I wanna tear my hair out LOL. TY for inspiring again!
You're so sweet Piera, thank you 🥰 I've been painting since October of 2018..and have been doing it full time now for the last 4 months. I have had a few careers lol, I was a Chiropractor before I had my kids, then a full time Mom for several years lol, then I started a Succulent Landscape business doing commercial properties and some beautiful residential estates once my girls were older.. then I started painting..
We all have those days, dont let it get to you 😉 have a great night ❤
NOTE: this video for some reason, is producing only Mono, so if this is happening to you, it is not your equipment.
Hi Harold, sorry about that. If you're watching on a phone, try flipping the phone around 180°, that changed the audio on mine so it sounds normal. Apologies, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Have a great day
Hey Mina, I went to your friends page , and yes she is talented and yes I subscribe I was honored to just wanted to let you know !!! Lisa
You're going to love her work! 🥰 thanks Lisa!
I love your fun and instructional videos, Do you see a 3D aspect from some ring pours, or is it just that my eyes don't quite focus properly? hahahaha
Definitely! I love that, sometimes you can get lost in them ❤
Hi Mina, I'm searching for one of your videos you did a while back, it was similar in color to this one, it was titled "kahua" "I'll never be able to do this one again" I love your art, xxxxooo
Hi Janice!
I think you might be thinking of someone else's pour with that Title.. I don't have a pour by that name, 'Kahua'. I am intrigued tho, so if you find it please send me the link! 😉❤🌻
Hi Janice!! You are thinking of Sarah Mack's pour titled 'Kilauea'..
czcams.com/video/kBLHcNAX3Bo/video.html
❤ Sarah is amazing!
The painting is gorgeous, I love these colors. But what I really want to know is, could you show us your table that you're using outside. Thanks!
Judy I first started using little fold up plastic tables and covering them with trash bags. We recently moved to this house and had brought my old kitchen table with us, but didn't have a space for it inside. I wanted to use it as a place to eat outside but there is very little shade here outdoors, so that didn't really work and the wood was showing signs of being outside in the morning fog. The two small folding tables were not the same height, finally my husband suggested bringing the old kitchen table down to my Tuffshed/studio, saying at least it would be level. I got it from Ashley Furniture about 6 years ago, it's a big square Kitchen table and it's a taller height, which is great for me so I dont have to bend over quite so much. I have it covered with 3 layers of thick black plastic garbage bags. I dont think it's going to last forever, but it's much better than the cheapy folding tables I had been using before! It's funny, if I take the plastic off you can see where my kids were doing homework and pushing hard with pencils into the wood (that used to drive me crazy haha), but its sweet memories of helping them with homework when they were very small for me now. The kitchen table is always the heart of the family, isn't it? I love that its helping me paint now ❤ Thanks for asking, I love questions like this ❤ I hope you have an amazing day!
@@MinaVillegasArt Love your response, Mina!
That would have been a very difficult pour under the best of conditions. You pulled it off despite the heat, the wind, the size of it, and because you did it outside - not under cover but out in the open! You made it look easy but I know it isn’t. So many factors are involved before the paint even hits the canvas: the colour combinations (you were right not to include the espresso in the pour part of it, though it is a lovely colour); the paint consistency; the varying thicknesses of different brands (and within brands); the amount needed to cover the canvas with the ring pour; problem solving; as you say, the level of your work surface; tilting with only one pair of hands; the paint potentially starting to dry or skim because of the heat; the cost of it with good quality paint and I dare say the timeframe - I’m guessing you didn’t wait for a cleaner day because you had your camera person there and were set to go - wind or no wind.
It was an almighty effort to produce this painting- let alone a beautiful one. Congratulations!
Thank you Rael 🥰 I love painting outside with the wind and birdsong, it's very relaxing lol (the sun I try to limit by shooting just before sundown but it does make me squint lol) I enjoy the challenges.. I did one big pour, Medallions, inside the house with no wind and no sun, I didn't enjoy doing it nearly as much. It felt like an operating room! You can get used to anything I guess 😂 The Wind and I have made friends, lol I promised to let her paint a big canvas very soon 🥰 thanks for watching Rael ❤
Mina, I don’t know how I missed the peaches painting but girl this os by far one of my favorites it is beautiful ? Question when you pouring outside with sun do you run them inside or leave outside just wondering if sun cracks the paint? Yes I seen you spray back of this painting ? But the other oneI was talking to you about ? She said front is s definitely a big part from small to large most important and another artist 100% agreeed with her she also does the backs to , but you have to let them dry for about hour then your paints will not weigh doen canvases and also if it’s large ones like you use , have something under the bottom to support all the weight from paint leave it til dry , Mina you paintings is gorgeous ! I just want to help you from losing some of the most important beauty of your art ?? Plzz try it because like I said gorgeous, beautiful, dimensions, and depths may will stay on canvas and not leave !?? Plzzz just try it because Ig it hurts me to see some of the beauty rolling off I know it does you too Love your art, love the fun in you and all you beautiful art energy! Love lisa
You're such a sweetheart Lisa! I hadn't heard of spraying the front of the canvas before, that's an interesting thought, I will look into it!
Thank you - gorgeous. Can i ask a question? In the UK, Floetrol is just as expensive as liquitex gloss medium & varnish. if i buy liquitex gloss medium & varnish, can I use it pure, or can i dilute with something else? thank you
That's a great question! You can use it pure.. I find it a bit thick, you can add water a little at a time until it is pouring consistency. I prefer to add Floetrol because it doubles the amount of paint I have, but you can absolutely pour with out Floetrol.
@@MinaVillegasArt Thank you so much Mina
I love All your art. Your laughter is so infectious. Even when you make mistakes you laugh at them. I am just starting out and I watch all your videos. Hopefully one day I can be one half as good as you. I unfortunately have cancer. It started in the breast and now it took my kidney and liver. Keep up the great work. The world needs to see positivivity and hear laughter like yours.😘😷
Hi Mona, it's me the new viewer again 😂😆🙃😗😜🤪🤔

Chocolate ice cream and marshmallows sounds wonderful! 😄

@@MinaVillegasArt I am empressed with your talents.
May you have continued success.
Your new friend ☺️
Hi beautiful painting. It's got aa very outdoorsy look.. u crack me up!! U r fun to watch.. thanku. Do you gesso any of your canvases? I was told I should cuz I buy the cheaper ones at Michaels. Usually artist loft that 10pk for 14 dollars. Size 8x10. I'm new at this lol I've asked many amazing artist about the base coat. What r your suggestions on that? Pls & thanku.
Hi Karen! Thank you so much!
I dont use gesso, but I do use a basecoat of paint if I'm using a wooden panel that has not been gesso'd. The bulk pack of canvasses is great, especially when you are just starting out. The best advice I can give you about a basecoat is to make it slightly thinner consistency than the paints you will pour onto the canvas. If it's too thick your poured paint won't slide, it will get stuck.
@@MinaVillegasArt your welcome. Thanku very much. I'll try using the canvas without the gesso. Maybe that's part of the problem lol I appreciate your advise. I have thinned the paint. I'm issues getting even on the canvas. Its obviously the way I'm doing it or not doing it. Lol I'm limited to space too. I'll keep trying. Thanku very much!!!
How do you clean the pictures then behind?
