- 24x36 Gorgeous Deep Purple & Prussian Blue Ribbon Candy Pour Two Step Stretch Technique for Not So Tight Canvases! Amazing Effects!
Hello Friends!
I acquired a few large canvases that while lovely, were not as tightly stretched as I had hoped. This is why I developed my Two Step Stretch Technique. By not pouring a big puddle of paint directly in the center, I managed to avoid the issue of pooling.. and I dont leave a lot of paint on the canvas. In the Two Step Stretch, I pour the paint along one edge and tilt it down, then pour along the opposite edge and tilt toward the center, until the two pours meet. It works great!
My Colors today are:
Grumbacher
- Thio Violet*
- Prussian Blue
Winsor & Newton
- Ultramarine Blue
DecoArt Americana Metallics
- Soft Gold
- Black Ice
*(added to darken Thio Violet)
Artist's Loft
- Prism Violet
- Titanium White
(plus some Satin Enamels)
- Flow Acrylic Black
*(added to the Thio Violet)
My Pouring Medium is:
Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
Water as needed
Floetrol
The Ribbon Candy part of this pour turned out amazing! At first it looked like fat bunches of grapes on a vine, ready to burst. After I tilted it and stretched it out it began to look like waves and reminded me of a Japanese wood block carving. That dark eggplant color worked so well with the Prism Violet and the Soft Gold, and gave the piece a very mystical feeling.. I love how this one turned out! I hope you guys enjoy it too! Please let me know in the comments what you think, and if you have done a similar technique in the past.
I hope you all enjoyed this video!

Love Love Love a wave inside a cavern. Water and rock, two of my favorite things!
Fabulous!! Dark cherry and eggplant!!! Yum 😋
This pour is special. It color hue changed after the pour went dry. I love the fingerling’s and clouds you achieved. Beautiful Mina! Be well. Laurie
Thank you so much Laurie ❤️
I have seen three women, one fairy and so much more. Breathtaking comes to mind. Blessed Be❤️🧚🎆
Absolutely Gorgeous, it looks like a magical fairy kingdom with a little campfire in the corner,
Ms.Mina, you are so amazing, you bring joy into my life, thank you🙏🏽
Gorgeous. I love the fronds thingies. The soft gold was subtle. I love your explanations of how you manipulate the paint to do what you want it to do.
Beautiful. If you look at the bottom right corner and tilt your head to the left a bit, I think I see a dragon of sorts. I really love the other side with the fingerlings. Love the colours. Awesome. 😊
Mina, you definitely are the "The Tilting Queen, The Mistress of Paint Movement, and The Master of Stretching" (which is far more difficult than herding cats at midnight while howling with the coyotes)!!! I couldn't believe it as I watched you LITERALLY TURN that entire area of "Ribbon Candy Back-Tracked Pour" from its original Left-to-Right orientation to the new Up-and-Down orientation!!!! OMG!!!!....What?!?!?! And then it DIDN'T MOVE!!! It was like that beautiful Japanese wood-block wave had merged with the canvas underneath it.....while the rest of the paint just kept flowing and flowing!!!! REALLY?!?!?! It was SO COOL that I had to watch it TWICE more! You are the Svengali of Paint!! I aspire to this level of paint mind-melding, Ms. Spock! (Dang, that's waaaay TOO many designations!! Just pick your favorite, or stick with Mina. They all mean AWESOME to us.)
Give that HoA a big hi-five from my HoA. #Ya'allRock!!
You are so sweet lol I love your comment, thank you so much! 🥰😂❤🌞
@@MinaVillegasArt Whew, thanks, Mina! I'm glad you loved my comment. It was REALLY over the top, and I sounded like a lunatic...lol. I was just TOTALLY blown away by your skills. Watching your ability to move paint sometimes makes me giddy, and it always inspires me. Seriously, if you ever decide to teach (group or one-on-one), I would love a lesson. My HoA and I wish you, your HoA, and your family a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!!
Extraordinary colors in a wonderful composition I love the colors it's my favorite colors awesome poor looking forward to the next one
that NINA is AWESOME!!!
Wowzers!! This is SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME. Beautiful. You surely know how to make the paint have a party. "Black Cherrt two steps," is a fun name. Tilt baby. tilt! Experience will out. And a clean shirt. Thanks for sharing your art. Cheer up Gurl!🤣😂🍀🇺🇸💖👩🎨🤗🦓
Georgous. Mina you have amazing art paint pouring talent.
OUTSTANDINGLY GORGEOUS LOVE IT!!!!
The patterns are intoxicating and the colors magnificent. You really have an eye for wonderful combinations.
Thank you so much Barbara 🥰
Wowza!!! Loving these colors together! You are fearless!
Thank you Sweet Sarah! After your Star Wars pour for me I found some of the Thio Violet you used, very cool color.. I do like it a little dirty tho 😂😳😉❤
And I’ve been working “eggplant” for 2 months, Mina makes it by accident!-gorgeous! I got the green mysterious down.
you all prolly dont care but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?

@Joseph Walker Instablaster ;)
Love the backwards pour. All the different ribbons, the colors together. Awesome. Just starting to do pour painting. I think I am going to explore your backwards pouring technique some more. Thank you. Love watching and learning from you.
Beautiful as always - you have such awesome talent. Your videos are so wonderful to watch - thank you for sharing your creative paintings.🌹🌹
I love it before you stretch, they flow together so well, thank you for sharing your methods
Thank you Elizabeth! Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰
Wow! Both electrifying and calming. I love this creation Mina!
Really like this better than the ring pour. Beautiful
All i can say is wow. The 3d effect is amazing. Very dramatic!
WOW!!! Another winner!!
awesome. MINA , love that
WOW, Mina, that is gorgeous
Gorgeous colour combinations
This is gorgeous 😍 I love the part that looks like lightening...
Great gorgeous result
This is beautiful! During the tipping part the white part in the lower right corner was really looking like a dragon but then it stretched out a bit and was not so definitive. I love this piece!!
The colors are awesome together!! But I'm not to crazy about the composition. Actually the more you tilt and stretch the better it gets.
You are an inspiration to us all. I stepped out of my small pouring comfort zone and did a 16 x 20. Not as pretty as yours. However it is a keeper. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
It is amazingly beautiful!!! I love it!!!
This turned out fabulous, like a magical hole in space, your facial expressions of concentration were wonderful. Thank you.
My 'elevens' 😂 I am concentrating lol I'm so glad you liked it! 🥰
Stunning!.. lovely colors!
Thank you! 🥰
Love your fingerlings! I’m trying to work on that.. Thank you for sharing sooo much!!!
I'm lovin all the different facets of this painting. Also the way it dried. I could watch you all day. I go to bed at night saying "tilt... tilt". It's my new mantra!
Wooowww!! I love the left side with those 3D "fingerlings", that's my favorite part! It's so funny when you're tilting, you have this look on your face, like you're hyper focused. You create with such intention and focus! I have ADHD and painting and gardening are the only times I am fully focused! Anything else I do, even when I try my hardest, my brain is turning my attention to 5 thousand other things lol 🤯🤪 It drives the babe nuts haha!
See I just rambled again in your comment section!! 😬😳🙃
Ohhhh, ahhhh 👀👀👀👀👀👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏❤️🤩🤗
This one turned out extremely special.. love love 💕 it’s like I said before- the paint is always magical, sometimes more than others- this is another one of those- lots of 3-d /depth and natural movement... 🤤.. awesome
I love purples so I'm really digging this one! HoA got a close up of it but, at one point, the white area looked like a dragon / griffin / Pegasus creature.
Wow ! Love it ! Great color choices, and the patterns are very cool. 👍🏻
Absolument magnifique!!!😍😍😍💕💕💕
VERY PRETTY
Sooooo very beautiful as always. Thank you for sharing. I love your ideas a lot.!

Thank you so much ❤🥰❤
Mina, I love this piece. Many beautiful parts on their own and combined make a stunning piece. Love your work. I really appreciate that you let us see the dry product in the end and you don’t rush us through it. Thank you for sharing.
Love it Mina! ♥️💙🧡
I love it thanks for sharing!!
Another beautiful result! I love watching your channel!!
Thank you so much ❤️
The end of that 2nd pour. Wow
It looks fantastic.
Like crazy cool! Love the #ribbonpour lol
Such pretty colors! Just beautiful!
You are a Tilting Master! It was fascinating to watch so much paint slide away while your primary design stayed in place. (And this has nothing to do with the painting, but you have gorgeous hair!)
It's Gorgeous!!! 💕💕💕🏜🤠
Excellent! 💕
Love it! Wow ‼️🥰
Stunningly beautiful 😍
Beautiful
Beautiful!! Im so glad you didn’t tilt the white headed & gold bodied dragon off of the side. I love dark rich colors. I only pour pinks, neons, pastels for other ppl. I’d love to see you do a kiss, ribbon pour, I just did one in greens & blues(plus a dirty cup of drips I scooped up without mixing-house painter’s tool) & I love it.
THE BEST !!
Absolutely beautiful. Like standing in a beautiful watching crashing waves. The colours are amazing.
I saw a lady spray water on the back of her canvas so I tried with one that had a fat finger mark in it. This works for me. I’ve also watched a lady put her canvas in the bathtub under running water. I’m not sure I want to wait for it to dry so I just spray.
I love the candy stripe. That’s a big ole wow!
Ooh that dark purple and the soft gold, gorgeous together. Beautiful piece.
wonderful!
I love watching you manipulate the canvas to create a masterpiece. Your art is amazing!!
On this one, I actually see a dog when you look at the white part from the side. Can anyone else see this?
Wow this is so beautiful. Another Mina Masterpiece. 🎨🎨🎨
Love these colors...purple is my favorite 💜💜💜 This is gorgeous!! That cloud effect WOW!
Incredibly gorgeous! I think this is my favorite. Great color combos!
❤️❤️❤️
I just adore your work. I'm just beginning my journey in pouring and learning alot by watching you and everyone else I I watch. But I think I have watched almost all of your videos. They are so breath taking. Thank you for sharing your art with the world
Stunning love the colors😍
Hi Mirna, that's fantastic, mesmerizing. How do you get those finger like shapes, is it the consistency, the movements of your hand or both? sooo beautiful. You inspire me to try all these techniques. Thank you for your teaching.
Mina, you are simply superb!!! I actually "experience" the complete pouring and tilting and then the result! I wait for your videos, I have watched all. Please make more!!
Mina this is beautiful! The colors are spectacular! I make a mess with an ounce of paint, you on the other hand tackle it flawlessly! Bravo! Incredible beauty! 🎨🥰🌹
nice channal......... a big thumbs up
This is a favorite of mine now! LOVE IT!
So beautiful ❤ lots of depth & dimension. Glorious & gorgeous.
I had a canvas which wouldn't tighten up with spray bottle so I plugged in the hand held steamer. Tighter than a drum 😁
I went from not liking it to loving it. I wish I had your “eye” -maybe I wouldn’t scrape so many! Thanks!!
Absolutely gorgeous - Queen of the tilting! :)
Stunning. It reminds me of deep sea coral 💗
I love the part that you keep talking about. It's Beautiful!! The colors are great too.
Beautiful colour combination, looks very mystical. Love it! 😊
I love the white dragon... and the rest is pretty great too🙂
So pretty!! I made Christmas tree ornaments in these colors this year 😀
This is FABULOUS, Mina! 😍. I love how the reverse pour looks. You make it look so easy. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Gorgeous Mina 💖
Tilting, tilting, tilting, but...it turned out spectacular.
Wowww!!! It’s so pretty Mina!!! I love the colors so much! 👏👏👏😍 In the first spill at the end, it looks like snake skin, so beautiful !🤩👏👏👏💫👩🎨 The painting is really awesome!!!! 👏👏😍🤩✨👩🎨🎨🖼
Love that eggplant color... I just made one the other night...havent used it yet but it works very well with your palate.
I love the wave area a lot! The pthalo colors are so pretty!
Thanks O:-)
I really love it! ❤ This has given me some ideas.... Thank you so much for sharing 💕💕💕
Such beautiful colors :) xxo
Hey Mina its so beautiful. I really like the dirty dark part. It looks mysterious. You did a great job like always. Lol Andrea ☺️💕
My daughter Lily says "it looks like a sea dragon the lives in a namenome!" 😂💗
Hey Mina, Love the way your work looks and all the info you give so freely. Got a question. Can you reuse all that run off paint for your base flow coat? or maybe a mixed color? Thanks
Hi Michelle! I do reuse my drips, either as a basecoat but sometimes in the pour. There's a video called Apricots on Mars where I use my drips from the day before, a beautiful deep dark cherry color. Most of the time I use them thinned out as my flow extender.
