Newly diagnosed. Just released from 2 months of 3X/wk Lymphedema therapy. I have a compression machine at home, but I a, very happy to now know how to do the manual lymphatic massage properly. Great vid. I feel I can completely trust that your guidance is on point. Thank you.

10 years post leg radiation and had lva surgery at Huntsman in Utah 4 months ago. Woke from surgery with softer leg. LVA is not perfect with long term lymphedema. I am scheduled for LVNT at Mayo clinic in Arizona but my current surgeon has indicated Stanford has trial underway for Acebilustat drug that will reverse lymphedema. We just need the FDA to approve the drug in timely fashion.

I'm wondering if Medicare would cover these procedures. I bet they expensive. Its good to know someone is acknowledging that lymphedema exists! So many medical professionals act like they've never heard of it. Thanks for the information! I love your channel.

@svaught - I had planned on getting the LVA and LVNT in 2021, but for a number of reasons unrelated to the lymphedema (left arm following 3/31/20 lumpectomy), I did not go through with it as planned. I still plan on getting it in the near future. I went through all the process of getting the MRI (I forget the technical name for the exact MRI procedure) and the approval for the surgery with Medicare/Essence, and it sailed right through with no hurdles. The only potential hiccup I had was that my lymphedema (and weight) was well managed at the time, so I did not show any excess fluid, and my surgeon was concerned that Medicare would not approve her initial plan for surgery because they might determine I did not need it due to the lack of excess fluid, so she went to a Plan B procedure that would still result in improved management and reduction of my lymphedema, ultimately meaning I would not have to spend 3 to 6 hours per day in maintenance mode in order to eliminate the excess fluid, and I might even get away with not having to wear a compression sleeve daily.
Since postponing the surgery, I have put on a lot of excess weight due to some medications and other unrelated health issues, and I want to lose the excess weight before getting the surgery, to ensure optimal results. So I'm back in the "weight loss zone" again, and I'm hopeful that I can get it sometime next spring or summer.
I hope this is helpful. 😊
