- I speak a lot about lymphatic drainage on my channel. I explain the traditional method of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) that's been used for many decades for arm lymphedema. But that may start to change thanks to the ALERT program. In this video, I perform a modified lymphatic drainage and lymphatic massage routine for MILD ARM Lymphedema and swelling based on this new research. So feel free to follow along!

Thank you so much for this up dated information, I am a breast cancer survivor and a licensed massage therapist. I had a masectomy and 12 lymph nodes removed. You explain it so well.
Oh I'm so glad you found it helpful. Sending you my best! 🙂
Thank YOU so much. This is so affirming to my own experience and instinct.
Instinct is more important than we know. 🙂
I’m so happy for this modified routine Thanks
Thank you so much for your videos and for making updates based on new discoveries, you’re a wonderful PT and your videos have been so helpful for me. I’m a young breast cancer survivor and my team left out a lot of information about how/when lymphedema could occur and what preventative measures I could take. It was frustrating to hear that I was likely developing it after reporting some pain in my arm and breast, but between your videos and compression garments I feel like I’ve gotten it under control. Can’t wait for the updated breast massage video!
It’s disappointing how often I hear that this information is left out. We’ll continue to advocate! I’m glad you have things under control more. 🙂 sending you my best!
Thank you so much for getting this new information out in a follow-along video so quickly!!!
Thanks so much Kelly. I find your videos so easy to follow. It's so helpful to be able to self massage. Thank you for guiding us!
This massage has been very helpful in alleviating mild swelling in my right arm after lumpectomy surgery. Thank you!
Great videos. Very informative and great support for patients. I share your videos with my patients.
Oh thank you! 🙂
I have moderate swelling in my forearm from rheumatoid arthritis and it is very painful and feels heavy but I am certainly going to try this and the kinesiology tape as I just watched that video too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
It is really a very helpful you are doing aa great work
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
Thank you Kelly- feeling so motivated and positive about learning the up-to-date method! I had chemotherapy, a mastectomy,14 lymph nodes removed and radiotherapy- your excellent videos are part of my recovery 🤗
Making someone feel motivated and positive for something challenging like this is one of the best compliments I could receive. Thank you! This made my day to hear 🙂
Thank You from România, very helpful ❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much Kelly

You're so welcome!
Thank you had lobectomy still numb after five months
I’m so grateful to have come across channel. Do you suggest completing these exercises once per day or more? And if once, is it best in the am? Can these exercises be done as a preventative measure? Thank you!
Thank you very much. After massage can I bandage my arm
I have head and neck as well as chest and arm lymphedema. 2 different cancers. Which drainage should I do first? Love your videos and education.
Thank you for all you do, I noticed most of your talk/videos are on secondary lymphedema. You don't really talk on Primary lymphedema (Lymphedema precaux). I'll appreciate it if you do.
Thanks.
Thank you very much. How many times can I do this massage in a day.
Thank-you for breaking new info! I’m so surprised that a lot of the lymph still drains on the side of the mastectomy. Is this true even if lymph nodes were removed?
Yep- amazing isn't it. But even when all our nodes removed ALERT ICG mapping showed most people still drain there. Thats in the videos and the research papers. I changed what i do for myself when it got published a couple years ago.
Thank you so much! I have lymphedema on left arm. I had breast cancer. I had bilateral mastectomy with lymphatic ganglioni. Now my left hand is better. The lymphedema move to back under left subaxillary. How must the make autodrenaj for that?
I am from Romania 🇷🇴 Europe.
Sorry I don't know so good English language.
Please help me, thank you so much.
Kelly, I left you a comment on the site for The Future of Lymphatic Drainage: Revolutionizing Lymphedema treatment. You said that you would be providing some modifications of MLD and wondered when that might be forthcoming. Looking forward to it. Thanks.
Yes. This is one of the 4 videos. 2 for the arm, 2 for the leg. The other 3 will be coming out over the course of the next 4-5 weeks
@@CancerRehabPT Thanks so much, Kelly. I share your work with the staff at the lymphedema clinic. It is so valuable.
Hi Kelly, there is something that confuses me. The study says that the fluid flows to the nodes in the arm pit. But isn’t that where the flow problem happens because some nodes were removed? So are you saying that we 1) massage arm to move the stuck fluid towards the armpit and 2) massage armpit to move the fluid out? Where does the fluid ultimately go once it reaches the armpit?
Thank you! And thank you for your excellent videos.
This is Carol Crane, Afrter the exercise should I put on my Lymphedems sleeve? Thanks!
What role, if any, do you think the arm sleeve pump should play in the management of lymph drainage? Especially in early stage (1 or 2) lymphedema.
My shoulder swells up from time to time right where I had a broken clavicle surgically repaired(with a metal pate) do you think it has anything to do with a severed or blocked lymph node?
How would you combine dry brushing with the slower, more firm strokes?
Can hopping on 1 foot at a time on the trampoline move lymph? One of my legs is longer than the other so the health bounce is a little painful but I still need to move lymph for the “C” diagnosis.
This is yet again a great video! One question: what you define as mild lymphedema? Is this applicable to stage 1 only or does stage 2 qualify too?
Thank you!
yes, I would say mild to me is stage 1, possibly into very well managed stage 2. Anything more than that I would call moderate or severe, which will be coming in a future video soon 🙂
@@CancerRehabPT thanks! This is helpful!
Lovey💜

Hello would you please do a video of lymphatic drainage for the entire body, head to toe?!
how to you know if you have minor or more severe lymphedema?
thanks for this video it was very helpful! i am going to try and do it a couple times a day to see if i can get things moving on my own!
A doctor or certified lymphedema therapist can help stage or grade the severity of one’s lymphedema
Thanks!
Thank you for your kindness!
