  • I speak a lot about lymphatic drainage on my channel. I explain the traditional method of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) that's been used for many decades for arm lymphedema. But that may start to change thanks to the ALERT program. In this video, I perform a modified lymphatic drainage and lymphatic massage routine for MODERATE TO SEVERE LEG Lymphedema and swelling based on this new research. So feel free to follow along!

Kelly I particularly like how you encourage people to modify the techniques to what they can do and to take as much or as little time as they have to do it. I think that is still called “bedside manner” and typically what patients think makes a provider a good provider. Great job, very well done.

Hi Kelly thanks for this new info and video. Am I right in understanding that we can still follow your original video where we take the lymph down before bringing it back up? Also does is it the case that the new video acknowledges the finding of a better route with some of the old routes being replaced with more direct ones? Clearly it saves a considerable amount of time and may encourage us to do our exercises more often.
Is there any harm or benefit to doing it more or is there a recommendation we can’t follow as to how often we do it? Bill.

I was told by a licensed lymphatic massage therapist that it couldn't be done outside the presence of a doctor in case a recipient of lymphatic drainage massage went into cardiac arrest due to to much fluid from the lymphatic system . Is this a case scenario or is the lymphatic drainage therapy accomplished slow enough the heart and kidneys can handle the extra fluids ? Thank you Doctor Kelly.

What's your take on vibration plates for lymphatic drainage? They're getting a lot of hype but I can't tell if it's just another health gimmick or not.

I've been doing this on my husband who has stomach cancer and is undergoing treatment that can sometimes cause leg swelling. It has worked wonders. He even asks me to do it when his legs are normal because it is so soothing. I would like to do some GENTLE massage on his belly to aid in digestion as well as calm that area, is there anything you can suggest? His belly is very sensitive but he seems to like when I just run my flat hands over it, but I'm unsure of the path I should take with them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. He is in so much pain from this, anything I can do to give him comfort is a blessing. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video.!

Hello Is it possible to get lymphatic blockage from a massage that a practitioner has done by mistake, as they did something and immediately afterwards I felt heaviness in the legs and has continued for some time now since the massage lower back. appreciate your thoughts on how to reverse these symptoms.
