  • In this video I cover the Top 10 Best Display Tarantulas in the hobby, at least in my opinion. I count down my top picks based on how often the tarantula is out of its burrow in the open, looks, webbing, attitude, feeding response, etc. Who will make the cut? The Brachypelma vagans? Poecilotheria metallica? Aphonopelma chalcodes? Theraphosa stirmi? Acanthascuria geniculata? Grammastola rosea? 🖖💚🕷

I was also a severe arachnophobic until my grandson had me catch a huge wolf spider and ever since then I have fallen in love with spiders. I been keeping wolf spiders for a couple years now and finally got my first tarantula a month ago. I got a Mexican Red Knee Tarantula. I wish you all the happiness I received when I got her.

Get a NW species. Besides GBB, a Brachy, Aphonapelma or Grammostola (IOW, a "Pet Rock, or Teddy Bear T) should get you over any fear. GBB's are great, and far more interesting, but are much faster and tend to bolt. Just make sure it doesn't get away! LOL.

As a plus they're tidy and give explanations on the T's that may interest me or other viewers and hey, as another plus your video quality is crisp and very pleasing to the eye, so it makes it an absolute joy to watch your videos.

Looks fantastic, impressive size and mine is super curious, always calmly comes to the front of it's tank to watch people watching it which is a bit of crowd pleaser for those who are curious about them. Absolutely a pleasure to own, even when it goes mental over it's dinner, chews up everything I put in the tank and fights me for the water bowl.

Even if Ts do go down into their burrows it will also be because they are getting ready to molt and they need to have privacy and safety. My Curly Hair used to be more out and about and very active, but now she's in her cork bark cabin(aka hide, cave) and she's closed up shop lol. its clear she is preparing for her premolt. I been learning about the premolt signs from FB T groups and of course through youtube channels on T husbandry. So the only time she will hide is when she has a premolt coming up and wants some privacy. Thats my girl! :) doing what Ts do best. And before then, using macro lens on my iphone to take some photos of her is absolute amazing!! Curlys have got gorgeous fine hairs that make macro lens soo fun to have and use! All the details are awesome! So when out and about, Curlys are my top fav display buddy :))

I was surprised with #7. Of course we have tarantulas here in the Philippines, why wouldn't there be? Now I can't stop thinking about it. 😨 Phobia aside, I hope hobbyists who love these animals could help with preserving some of the species that are vulnerable or endangered in the wild. Most countries, including the Philippines, don't exactly have ample time and budget for wildlife preservation so maybe the passionate people with the means can provide help with the solution. Cool of you to shout out your Filipino viewers 🇵🇭. Great job on this video and thank you for the great content!

I dont have many tarantulas yet, but I think my Metallic Pinktoe is a great display tarantula. He is in an exo-terra enclosure, which has a leafy jungle backdrop, and a few sticks, rocks and plants to climb on. Though he normally wont and just stays splayed out on the glass or walking on the glass. Which is cool and a bit creepy to see a large spider just walking around on a glass door. He doesn't move a lot but he does seem to like staying out on the glass and on display which shocks a lot of my friends when they see a huge spider just chillin out there. Plus its cool to see his underside and those fangs he has.

I would've picked the A. geniculata as number one. I have never seen an A. genic of any size use a hide or make a burrow. Mine even molt right out in the open. It's the only species I can count on to be out and about to show off to visitors, and it's always down for a feeding performance, too. (I just wish I could clean their water bowls without getting attacked, haha.)
Unfortunately, my C. elegans is almost always in her burrow and doesn't like coming out. Same with my C. versicolor. :(

Im a newbie in the hobby from the philippines and have some t's like the golden knee, albo hondu, but i have this one tarantula which is a burrower that is always out and keeps on waving at me no matter if it is night time or daytime.. My davus pentaloris.. Soo beautiful and vibrant, those black and orangey tiger stripes are amusing, a little bit skittish but a monster when it comes to feeding..
