I had a problem with overthinking things when I was going through the MSF course. My instructor told me to hum a song to myself while riding. It helped tremendously. I still do it when I realize that I'm overthinking things.
I shall try that when I build my skills up, cuz right now... I'm all over the place with no knowledge. Lol 💕 - Nikki
Me too, I was so focused on not f'ing up, I was f'ing up...
Smh
Ya the stop n starts in traffic are a pain when new to riding.👍
It's so neat to watch her progress in her training. Great job to the both of you!
Dan - the Hondas also have a sidestand kill as well (if the stand is down while the bike is in gear - even with clutch in, it shuts down).
Good on you for taking her to a parking lot to run some more. I just passed my MSF course today and those low speed maneuvers sneak up on you and gave me the most trouble. Watching someone do them and doing them yourself is so different.
Great job being a positive and encouraging mentor Dan, and great job picking all this stuff up Nikki!
I lament to think of the first times I was on a motorcycle/ dirt bike. I'd be very excited to listen to the footage of her first time on the road.
This is becoming a great series!
So awesome..
Keep it up you two!
Hey Dan, just wanted to give you a huge shout-out for really helping me out with such a plethora of informative videos! Got my CY endorsement on Friday and much of my course was easier thanks to your prep and tips. Absolutely love your videos and keep it up!! 🤘
Dan thanks for sharing , as always your videos are on point and informative
Congrats, Nikki. Happy for you, Dan. My girl started riding with me a couple months ago and I deff think it's upgraded the relationship.
Keep on doing as you have been doing, let her tell when she is ready no pressures and no overwhelming, she doing good congrats
Thank you! I have a very great teacher! - Nikki
Suggestion: even more positive encouragement. Just don't be over the top. Encouragement will keep her smiling.
If you were thinking about the car for gone in 60s its Eleanor. Also nice little trick for riding in 1st gear is to very lightly use rear brake to smooth out the throttle sensitivity of 1st gear
She is ready to go getting more confident i started out riding around a giant yard learning to ride my motorcycle before i went on the roadways
Awesome vid dan, Nikki your doing great ! RNFR!!! \m/ \m/
The clutch thingy practice is important.
Congrats NIKKI!!!!!!! awesome .. u did much better than I did on my parking lot practice … :-) see ya around town in a few weeks ;-) P.S u can teach me how to ride up Mt. Lemmon ..lol and carry me down it :-( hehe Ride Safe
She looks like she is doing well. tbh slow speed maneuvering is he hardest part of riding to most people.
Thank you. I'm trying! - Nikki
Anything parking lot is easily the hardest part. I've got the same first gear lurchiness on my CRF, second gear and above will be WAAAAAY smoother for you. Good job!
Thank you. We practiced second gear the other day... Way smoother! 💕 - Nikki
She is doning great. Time for four cones to get her doing wide u-turns. GREAT JOB!
I just wish there's RPM meter or the speedometer is analog entirely.
At least I know I won't red line after a downshift
Great video Dikki (dan + nikki).
The name of the car in “Gone in 60sec” was ELEANOR
Yeah we went home and looked her up. We were close though! When I rode her the other day during practice I talked some sweet nothings in her ear. It was nice. 💕 - Nikki
Nice colour upon dem Rebel 500,
In me country, above 250cc bike, need to get another type Bike license for above 250cc
Over here (Thailand), 1 motorcycle license for all types of bikes
High school kids with CBR 1000 seen many times
Wiseman II wow haha,
We somewhat close, most bike,
Small cc, LC135 ,RXZ n 125Z legendary 2 stroke, haha
Chains make sounds when driving at low speed and at low gear, chains do whip in this situation.
It sucks there are no large carparks where I live
Don't give to much information that is helpful, but not necessary. Some of the things you are suggesting are correct but overwhelming for a beginner.
Cones ? You can use them later in other vids. Just thought about how annoying watching this is. But NOT in a negative way. I have forgotten day one and 2 on a bike. GREAT content for a newbie. Nikki will be a great rider. Patients is not one of my best virtues. Great job
I'm still trying to practice my turning and feel like I'm turning to wide. Do I need work on my friction zone or my looking when turning?
I'm still a noob, but I noticed looking through the turn (at your exit) has made a world of a difference. - Nikki
Do you have trail schools in your area than please try that there is were you realy learn bike control
I want to hear what she's saying, but I also want her to be safe. So she might be better off not being miked. It's just another thing for her to think about. She should be concentrating on riding.
I want her to have a mic. But we wont focus on making videos
👍
I agree with it being a bit too much information, especially while she’s sitting on the bike. When you’re new, it’s already overwhelming enough to try and keep track of all four of your limbs plus the bike, so it’s not going to be very effective to try and feed her specific, overly precise instructions (immediate feedback, how wide to go, how many times something should be done). If she’s doing something that seems a little much, wave her in and have her shut the bike down before explaining it to her. This way she can give 100% of her attention to what she’s doing while riding and 100% attention to you while you teach. Shouting specific instructions to her while she’s riding only reduces the attention she can give to the bike.
That said, she’s doing amazing! Her motivation to learn and her eagerness to ride means she’ll be cruising beside you in no time.
she needs to learn the pressure points of the clutch leaver.... slowly.
next time during daylight , have her to do u-turns between the parking space lines, as like a long constant U . . . as like a snake swiveling from park space to park space , so on and so on , until she gets to the end, then turn around and do it again.
good practice for u-turns. and weaving .
here have a look at this site : www.ridelikeapro.com/
ur wlcm .
i just want the both of you safe as can be.
and whom ever reads this , perhaps you can too .
i do not meen nor intend any harm or embarrassment to anyone for not really knowing how exactly to use all the functions of the bike. to know is better than not knowing.
a huge nap xD
I understand him by over coaching her since shes his girlfriend. I would probably be the same with my wife haha but yea she seems to be doing great!
Thank you! I don't mind his over coaching. A lot of the stuff I've already forgotten and it's a helpful reminder. - Nikki
"... if you're losing control, just grab everything"
she would have dropped it if she grabbed front brakes in a turn like that
