I'm so glad you said this.
I was lucky enough to see Billy live many years ago. Prior to that I'd seen names like Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Lee Evans and Peter Kay. And I realise how lucky I am to say that.
Ricky did an hour or just over. The rest did 2 hours give or take. All with warm ups and intervals.
Billy did nearly 3 hours without a break. He just paced back and forth and told stories that felt like they were coming from someone I'd known my whole life, something that I didn't truly appreciate the value off until years later.
I loved every second of every comedian I mentioned but there was something truly unique and incredible about seeing Billy live
And that's why he's a cut above the rest. Legendary.

As a disability support worker and advocate, my clients with dwarfism want to be known as dwarfs. Many of them find little people offensive and rude. This is filmed over 20 years ago when the language was trying to be changed. In all my 25 years in this industry ive not met one little person, but plenty of people with dwarfism. Billy is bang on here

Our generation wasn't afraid to speak out and say it how we saw it , today's generation has been brainwashed by the educational system into being afraid of their own shadow and for the best part totally devoid of a sense of humour.
Channels like this will help to highlight your generations issues and hopefully pave the way to a return to some sense of normality.

Dwarfism is a medical term, so there is nothing disparaging in calling a person a dwarf. Little person sounds like a leprechaun to me, that is an insult.
That was my first thought as well. It's only an insult if you use it in a derogatory way

The best story teller of all time!. Saw him live and he would start on a story, go off on a tangent all the while making the audience laugh, then go back to the original story!. Such was his skill in story telling, you could remember where he was in said original story and enjoy the end!. LEGEND! Nuff said!. 🙂

Billy Connolly is one of the best human beings on the planet and my favourite comedian ever. If there was ever someone famous I would love to meet it is him! He is an irreverend, opinionated, individual, histerically funny, caring human being and I have always just adored him! You should watch more of his stuff, he's just bloody brilliant!!!❤

There IS a wee dwarf in the world. That little girl that there was a TV Show about. She is the tiniest person I ever saw in my whole 70 years of life. And I had a cousin who was a dwarf. Compared to her, he was huge. Even her voice is tiny. Cutest little girl I ever saw! And yes, I still say dwarf. Always have, always will.

It's not..... there's an American comedian called Brad Williams who is a genuine dwarf, he dislikes the term too but will use it as part of his routine.... funny guy if you haven't already found him here on YT.

I went to 2 of his concerts and I cried laughing each time. He tells funny stories, not jokes as such. The best, in my opinion.

If you ever get the chance have a listen to billys "Wreck on Tour" i found the cassette tape of this when i was a wee boy in Glasgow, and when i picked it up and it was Billy Connollys i smiled and i knew i had found a gem its a masterpeice ,Btw Do you know Gerry Rafferttys song Stuck in the middle with you was about the big yin .

I used to go to their stage show in the 90s before it became a TV series there's one CZcams from late 90s worth a watch if you never seen it. I remember the days in the early 1980s listening to his live 1970s concerts on LP music albums, Ivan terrible story, is one of my favourite from those days, I have a playlist of Billy Connolly songs , (not my videos I just saved them because they are funny)

Billy Connolly is genius about this subject. It’s so important to see the big picture. As their was one comment from a disability support worker and advocate dwarf want to be known as dwarfs. I’d say theirs so much potentially correction. Society has come so confused over the last 10-15years.

I remember watching Billys stand up on tv for hours in a Tenerife bar. Our flight had been delayed and we were told before we left the resort but we had checked out. It was the best part of the holiday 😂
Actually the term "Dwarf" is NOT derogatory. It is a type of little person typically defined as having a relatively normal size body and head with proportionally short limbs. They also typically exhibit bulbous knotted muscles.
I used to work with a guy who exhibited all the typical signs Dwarfism, but he was 5'3". I told him on day at lunch, " You're tall for a Dwarf." Half a dozen people around us gasped as if I had called the worst insult in the world. But he just laughed hysterically. So I pointed out to everyone else that it was not meant as an insult but an observation. And the typical signs of the condition. By this time he was getting control of his laughter and said, "He's absolutely right. I was diagnosed as a child as having dwarfism but grew 6 inches taller than the typical range for Dwarves. So his observation was spot on and he is the only person who has ever expressed that to me." Then he turned to me and said, "By the way, you're short for a giant." We were close friends after that.
You want to get rid of racism, sexism and all the other crap? Stop being ignorant and offended at words. Try UNDERSTANDING the issue first.

In the UK, it definitely tends to be *dwarf,* rather than ‘little person’.
I’m aware that in the US, ‘little person’ is more commonly used. ‘Person of short stature’ is also preferred by some.

Kudos to you. You do that for no other reason than your parents taught you to have respect for others (especially, in my case, women). I'm much older than you, and I still hold doors open to those right behind me. People take on the 'me first' attitude and don't consider others about them and just rush about. It's Just courtesy.

I understand and side with Billy's view that it is OK to call a dwarf a dwarf, the discrimination act is in place to stop certain words from being used in a derogatory manner but dwarfism is a medical and scientific term. If you are born with a form of dwarfism then you are a dwarf. It is also (maybe) worth noting that Billy played a dwarf in The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies film.

I can't remember the exact book, but it was one written by Tom Sharpe (probably one of his Wilt series) where the protagonist was chastised over his use of the term 'dwarf' and was told (these books are satire and comedy I should hasten to add) the the 'correct term' was now PORG - for Person Of Restricted Growth.
