What I love is people like Eddy who have settled in the UK..and unbeknownst to themselves, have developed a regional dialect...a slight "twang" to their accent... ❤❤😂😂
I met him at Cropredy Folk Festival in '85. He did a set in the evening. He was walking around the audience and chatting to people in the afternoon. He has a song called D.I.V.O.R.C.E. (1975) and an arsehole guy in our group asked if he was going to perform it that evening. Note: He was getting divorced from his first wife Iris Pressagh at the time, before he married Pamela Stephenson. He just looked this guy in the eye and told him to f off, haha. You can imagine how he went down with a field of 1000s of drunk fans that night. He had us in hysterics.

The joke about the dwarf was good! You need to listen to one of his old albums - The crucifixion and many other old albums he did! As you said, Billy is a great story teller! He tried to make it in America, but many a state/s in America could not understand the Scottish lingo/pronunciation/s! You got to watch the footage of him on Parkinson with Pamela Anderson! The man was a welder in the shipyard, but he was destined for the stage! Absolute Genius in capturing the attention of the world! Lovely guy!

I went to see him live when I was 17 and pregnant (now 67) I laughed SO hard I had tears running down my face, and had to leave because I was in severe danger of wetting myself. He is by far the funniest storyteller I have ever heard. Nobody has made me laugh as hard since.
Billy has been amazing for many years. Look out for him doing a story about newspaper advertisements, hysterical.
His bum is so hot with the runs so he has the paper in fridge to keep his bum cool 👏👏❤️🍀

Your commentary about Irish and Scottish storytelling is so true. My Dad, who was from County Kerry, named me after a storyteller who used to visit the farms and entertain the families occasionally. People would gather, food and drinks were served, and the children would be allowed to stay up late just for the stories. Wonderful memories, and Billy Connelly is right up there with the tradition. How lucky we are to be able to experience his comedy no matter where we are! Thanks for sharing.

Would love to see some still game and the comedians you mentioned.
How about Morecambe and wise,cannon and ball.they worked they're way up gigging in working men's clubs etc before getting their own shows on TV.they were made up of a straight man and the funny one.bith had a positive song that they'd sing at the end of the show.
In the 80's along with smith and Jones you had fry and Laurie,french and Saunders,the dangerous bros who were Rik Myall and ade edmondson.they did a show called bottom and one called the young ones.

He has always had a knack of telling it like it is with added humour that makes you cry with laughter and shout at the screen, “yes that’s it, that’s what it’s like, I’m over 50 and my Dr keeps asking how my bowels are, I think he’s planning another one 🥴

Billy is a great storytelling comedian Jasper Carrot was another good story teller comedian but not quite on the same level. George Carlin and Bill Hicks are also comedians worth checking out, their comedy is part philosophy and part truth behind the narrative.

When I say I grew up with Billy Connolly, I mean growing up in Belfast with 5 welder Bros. At 7 I begged my father to let me watch him.
My favs were John Wayne, Freddy mercury and Billy.

When I had my colonoscopy I was 28 or 30 it wasnt tablets it was liquid n he's right I was attached to a drip n oh fuck trying to run clenching your cheeks and running for the toilet just getting back then your off again and for a girl it's not funnyxxxshanna
This was probably recorded during the '90s. Loved Billy in the day but now find his toilet humour interjected with swear words jarring and unfunny.
