  • Hi Everyone hope you keeping well, so here we have a video I made on the new tyres strapped to the golf.
I decided to try something different as I've been a big fan of the Yokohama ADVAN sport v105 that I've used over the past couple of years.
I went for the new and revised TOYO PROXES TR1 (not older T1R) 225/40/18 and to be fair this was mainly because of price, nevertheless I was quite impressed with their dry grip and for 4 tyres @ £240 its a fair deal.
Hope you enjoy the video don't forget to like subscribe and share!
Keep safe guys, take it easy.

I have those in my tuned 1.9 jtd Fiat Stilo.
    215/45 R17
They are really good for the price, the dry grip is better than Bridgestone Potenza I had before. When they warm up a bit they really stick to the road.
When the road is wet you should drive slowly... Trust me, this ones arent really good BUT if you find yourself waterplanning, this are REALLY GOOD to drain water!!
Here in Portugal the weather is better so this ones are perfect for me 👌

i have these tyres on my MX5 and i have to say they are amazingly stable
no lift off oversteer. they oversteer very late if braking in corners and if they do oversteer its really easy to control.
and also provide a stable drift and thats because of the hard sidewall i think.
The Grip is really good i only have 195s front and rear and i basically dont have to brake at roundabouts i can just enter without slowing down.

They are good mate, I’ve found them to be excellent in the dry especially. The only thing I’d say is that they quite stiff and noisy.

Thanks I love the xxr wheels, right where do I start lol
Each car is different in the sense that the previous owners could have looked after the car or they just didn't. If its a 1.8T then these are the things to look out for
Water pump - Original is plastic and breaks so get the revised metal impeller version.
      Clean the oil pick up
      Platinum
Oil coolers will fail at some stage and are a cheap fix when you do the oil change.
If you ever change electrical sensors only use oem don't use cheap ones eg Mass air flow meter.
Check your exhaust manifold as they crack and kill the power.
I did full evap delete to eliminate boost leak issues but this can be a little complicated.
To be honest regular servicing and maintenance on these cars is key I service my golf every 3000 miles or so.
      Hope this helps.
