Something seems wrong with this comment. What could it be
You say vodka and xanax, but I only have champagne and pristiq......does this pass the Skill Up seal pf approval?
You realize that all the stuff you say ''we all remember/did/experienced'' are pretty fucking niche right?
Still waiting for code SHILLUP
“…given that Mick is a dude with a synthesizer…” made me laugh out loud. 😆 Probably because I’m also just a mere creative.
Skill up is the only gaming reviewer that I can just stop everything I'm doing and watch a 40-minute review.
And the guality of the reviews has been taking a nose dive. He seems to obsessed with remaining neutral or shitting on games that aren't up his alley. 40 min of pussyfooting around calling Midnight Suns bad and unworthy of your time. ShillUp reviews for sure
Acg too, and that's it

Why Skillup wasn't nominated for best content creator at the Game Awards is beyond me. This is the best Gaming news source out there, here's to another year of quality content!
I had no idea who any of those "content creators" that were nominated were
@@Vesperon Eh, I've heard of Ludwig but I didn't even know he was a gaming content creator. I checked his channel and it's all CZcams drama BS/slapfighting and chess boxing/ reacting BS. He was the "gaming" content creator of the year? REALLY? What the fuck lmao
I feel the same way when I see Skill Ups follower count. How is this man (and his bros) not* more popular?
@@paulmememan508 he used to be a big name in competitive smash bro's and he started as a gamer on twitch, he came to youtube just over a year ago and his content changes to what youtubers need to survive basically.
IGN would've paid for that shit and won anyways just like their paid reviews
Man this channel is like the good old gaming magazines in terms of on-point consistent professionalism. It's exciting to follow, like watching an episode of the old Top Gear. This video has everything. Thanks for the work you do.
Yeah man, as the once-edgy level of casualness of CZcams journalism became the norm, it starts to become apparent why the confident professionalism of CZcamsrs like Shillup and big-name publications was a standard in the first place
“Scorn divided people, but not me, I’m still in one piece”…
Skillup, this video contains arguably your best writing of 2022.
Ikr right, the moment I heard that quote, I was like "damn, that's some clever writing SkillUp" lol.
@@jimmythegamer2231 Another great line I heard that I wanted to comment about was “the player base arched like a stroked cat” when talking about Cyberpunk 😂
Yeah, subtle but at the same time not. Great one liner.
I’ve really only played two games properly this year: Elden Ring and MW2. I’ve loved both but ER has been the best game I’ve played -- maybe ever?
I also loved Hades whilst it was on Gamepass.
@@tombrand236 best game ever??? Bro ur not serious
Really appreciate your coverage this past year, seriously. It must be a ton of effort for you and Austin, you're both doing great work.
Don't give Austin too much credit. He might demand better pay and benefits, which will inevitably lead to SU firing him and the end of the channel.

Please don't skip this: it's insane to me that Ralph sums up the entire year in gaming sub an hour when most episodes of "this week in gaming" are 30 minutes plus. I can't wait for another year of this series and reviews, Austin's editing still goes unmatched in this space. Keep up the great work you two and enjoy your holiday!

Bro, preach!!
Every time I hope on this channel, it's like walking into my favourite bar/restaurant/friend's house. Ralph you're eloquant, funny, honest and able to present information in a relatable way without skimping on important information. Keeping up with the games industry is a joy thanks to your work.
Your reviews for games such as Elden Ring and Ragnarok make me proud to part of a community that is able to appreciate the immaculate quality of your reporting. 2022 had it's ups and downs and 2023 looks to be equally as volatile, but knowing I'll have more of your content to get through makes things better.
Cheers mate, and have a good holiday season.
I knew that Elden Ring drop was coming and still laughed. Congrats on surviving another year covering this industry!
@@engie8015I love the games the only thing I hate is the terrible coop system. Other than that they are amazing

@ComfyCat That's how it happens. You dip you toe into Souls then before you know it you're neck deep.
That Babylon's Fall check back later poke was so well deserved, loved it 😃
Thank you Ralph and Austin for all of your hard work this year, top tier quality content as always. The amount of effort you put into your videos is appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed. Enjoy a well deserved break guys.
I don't remember when I found this channel but SkillUp has become the starting point, the definitive voice that I listen to for the first takes on anything related to Games and Gaming.
That horizon to elden ring transition was fire.
It’s so gross how clear it is that 2022 paid you for this recommendation.
For real this year was great. Truly the year of AA and Indie games. Loved it. Thank you for this recap!
Shillup living up to his name again, selling out for those 2022 dollars. I bet ralph praised 2022 just so he could get a review code for the 2023 beta
It was a great year for everything imo AAA, AA, A
@@0miy0 Agreed really, just the amount of AAA bangers seemed a little lower to me. Still some amazing ones though.
These are always my favourite episodes of TWIVG, ever since it started up at the end of 2020. Just something about reminiscing about the past year and the events that transpired in it fill me with nostalgia. Loved it in 2020, loved it in 2021, loved it now, and I hope it continues forever.
Holy hell, this was the end of year blast from the non-past that I needed. 2022 seems like it flew by but you've condensed SO much that I was there for in a 40 minute video that it's mindboggling how much I actually existed to observe or experience. Keep up the excellent work, Skill Up. Best gaming/pop culture channel around.
Probably one of, if not my favorite game reviewer/news channels. Looking forward to next year! Big things are coming!
2022 has been my best year yet. Elden Ring literally changed my life!
Same. Before Elden Ring came out I was someone who hadn't played Elden Ring. Now I live the life of someone who has played Elden Ring.
Then again that kind of life changing experience applies to all games, and all things 🤔
How sad must your life be to have a game change your life?

This is so well written and so well put together and I just don't know when or how you sleep my dude! I know you have an editor but still this channel overall feels like it's 9 people diligently working and not just 2 persons.
What I am trying to say is good job on a superb year and looking forward to spending another year enjoying this quality product of yours!
This week in video games has become something I look forward to every week❤
Love u, Shillup. After TB was taken from us, there was a deep void not only in the hearts of gamers, but also in the video game (and podcast-) coverage. While this void will never be completely filled ever, for me, you came closest to doing so. Hope you can give us more excellent news and reviews in 2023, I will be looking forward to each and any of them.

I always super appreciate these end of the year videos from Skill Up; really makes some have perspective on the year I might've not had, as most things tend to be forgotten with time.
Ralph, I just want to thank you for all the hard work you put in; Skill Up is legitimately the best channel for both reviews _and_ gaming news. I appreciate the depth of insight and artistry in your content, as well as the eloquent way you communicate it - all while making us laugh at just the right moments. Here's to another great year for Shill Up!
Austin, you rock! Your work does not go unnoticed. The flow and pacing is perfect, every time.
I had forgotten about some of these stories, so this video was really fun! Thanks for all of the hard work, Skillup! Enjoy your time off!
We love you, ShillUp! By far my favorite YT channel, and one of very, very few reliable game reviewers. I've watched every TWIVG, making it a ritual I look forward too, even if I've read most of the highlights on reddit or wherever. Happy holidays to everyone!
Shill Up - thanks for such a great year of content despite your home being flooded and having to play Diablo Immortal.
Geez, these yearly recaps are great. I can't believe all this stuff happened just this year. Before this video, I would have sworn at least 1/3 of these stories were from last year. Time sure flies.
Thanks Ralph! Awesome as always. Keep up the great work.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Ralph, you truly bring something to the video games community that nobody else has been able to capture. There are plenty of gaming news channels and sources, but only one SkillUp. Thanks for another great year, I wish you the best holiday, and can't wait to see what you bring us next year. Whatever it is, I'm here for it! Cheers!
I enjoyed the old Laymen gaming news, but this week in video games is a lot more digestible and the edited content seems to flow a lot better. Appreciate you man.
I can honestly say I look forward to these; it's nice to look back and see how the year went with a bit of distance on most of it, and plus skill up videos are always fun.
It's a little sad then that this is the last one, what with the entire skill up crew likely having a mental breakdown sometime around late February 2023
No Shill Up. Thank YOU for the great work you do around here delivering us news and reviews of games. Good to see your channel grow and gain the recognition it deserves. Cheers for the sweet summary of the year 👍
Thank you for keeping me informed of the hilarity of the video games industry this year, SkillBloke. Have a super Christmas. Same for Austin. Cheers!
A fantastic trip down this years memory lane! Thank you for the reviews, Friends Per Second and all your content! Wishing you all the best for 2023!
2022 was a amazing year for gaming, from the incredible game releases like Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, really solid events like the Game Awards, Summer GameFest, Gamescom, it felt like how life was before the Covid-19 Pandemic, lots of announcements for new releases in 2023, like Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Suicide Squad Spider-Man 2 , man 2022 was a great year for gaming 👏👏👏
Really enjoyed this look back at the year, it flew by big time, thank you for all the entertaining content throughout the year Skill Up! Happy Holidays everyone

You have been my favorite games news creator for the past two years, and your quality has only been improving. Thank you for making entertaining and quality videos each week on top of your reviews as well. Lets hope 2023 will be even better

This was an awesome 2022 wrap-up. Enjoy your holidays, Ralph!
Been a hell of a year, thanks for spending your year showing us some games I’d never have found myself!
I like how you recapped events as if reporting from that point of time rather than with their latest updates, nice format :D

The comment about being able to look back at these in the future is super interesting to me! I absolutely never thought of that but I realized ive already done that exact thing! Watching old episodes to reminisce will be great
Thank you for getting everyone through 2022
I appreciate you finding the balance in the cycle of video game news. I'm a new sub this year (if I remember right), and that's half the reason I ended up following this channel. As a former longtime Jimquisition watcher, I really needed to step back and stop subjecting myself to extremely negative news 100% of the time. Thank God for Jim Stephanie Sterling, I still agree with damn near everything they say... I just had to chill for my own mental health (especially outside of game news). It's important that the negative stuff is still reported on, but you seem to nail the proper balance.
The other half of why I subscribed is because you actually did Nier Automata justice in your review. :P
This is exactly why i stopped watching Jimquisition. I agree with essentially every point they make, but it's just so tilting and tiring. i know outrage and anger is necessary to push back against the industry, but it's just draining. i know i just basically re-wrote your comment, but its the first time i've noticed someone mention this and i felt seen.
2022 has been a great year for video games. My favorites were easily Elden Ring and A Plague Tale: Requiem.
Cheers for being chill, have. A great Christmas and here’s to 2023!
The best annual summary from my favourite CZcamsr. Cheers for all the work Ralph & Austin. Have a fantastic Christmas break!
Excellent video, your comment about people and their complaints stemming mostly from the focus on AAA is absolutely spot on. People think those are the only games that exist and it's pathetic.
Gaming is in a very solid spot right now, so many good games came out this year and more to come next year hopefully!
Go watch a vid by worthabuy on the state of gaming... It's nothing compared to 20 years ago
Compared to the last 3 or so years, yeah, true, but compared to the last 10+ years idk. A lot of larger games these days are less of an art piece and more of just another product on a shelf, unfortunately.
@@ar-zv6bj I think if you try some indie games along with AAA you might feel differently, I haven't played any new indie games this year but I got into The Outer Wilds this year and that was a really unique experience
@@nadirbaitsaleem7270 i cant get into it while people say its the best there is. How long do you reckon will it take to the click moment or moment that u cant stop if u know what in trying to say
@@VynTastic1 It has a "click" part towards the middle where there are so many mysteries you want to explore and you get overwhelmed by the options on every planet and it's pretty great XD
But there is also a low part towards the end where you start getting stuck if you don't know how to follow up on or finish certain mysteries and at that point it might be worth using a guide

That Ukraine segment got me teary eyed; I have some deeply personal connections who've had to endure the war and it's nevertheless relieving to see people I respect continually and even now, 10 months in, speak out against it. Thank you.

Loving the way you summarise the year in gaming like an encyclopedia.
i really think it’d be cool to make a video looking ahead to 2023 and pointing out some stuff you’re especially looking forward to. could be a good way for people to get some games they wouldn’t otherwise have heard of on their radar.
Very good conclusion about AAA games vs Indies.
I really feel that the big companies in video games are pushing more and more for stuff that doesn't add anything to games but will empty our pockets and our salute is in indies games.
Could do without the constant punching down and sounding happy about certain things not succeeding (except NFTs and the Metaverse, they deserve it), but I really appreciated this video. This was a busy year and I really enjoyed having a way to keep it all in perspective. I can't imagine collecting the entirety of the news for an entire year and synthesizing it into 40 minutes is particularly easy or rewarding, so thank you so much for doing it for us. It's that level of dedication that keeps me coming back even if I need to skip past every segment you do about Pokemon. Or any less-than-perfect Nintendo game, really.
Thank you and Austin for all the hours you poured into your work this crazy year.

Big thanks from Ukraine, for such heart-warming wishes! 🇺🇦
Most of culture or entertainment youtubers tend to ignore the world around them as a part of wrong "politics out of culture" worldview, so it was unexpected and inspiring. Thank you, once again.
Did you at least remove the nazi regiments from your military? It's sad how easily you fooled the world by playing the victim and relying on censorship of important little details like that.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115, the support of nationalistic (not even nazi, but nationalistic) parties in Ukraine at the last elections was 0.2%. It is less than in most of the EU countries or russia.
We do not have even support to this kind of politic vector, what could be told about "specified nazi-regiments", LOL.
Even the Azov batalion, who are so loudly accused by russian propaganda to be a "full-nazi-regiment" simply contains now less that a fraction of it's original members (among whom were Jews and Muslims, btw), but was completed by hundreds of people from the street, who simply are doing their best to protect their country.
Looking back at the numbers, what is the possibility of them being nazi? Hope, I made it clear.
