Video was uploaded 12 mins ago, but this comment was pinned 1 hour ago, lol. Gotta love CZcams.
@@theherooffire007 The video was set to public then, big difference.
Dude, for someone who keeps posting in 1080p, u sure throw a lot of stones of ignorance. Xbox series X is the most powerful console yet it still has HW constraints and 4k 60 is considered decent, also Denuvo is not on consoles as is it not required on consoles.
soooo no major drama you say? have you not heard about the ironmace nexon lawsuit?
I had tons of issues playing Diablo 4 beta on console.
Lack of collision, display boxes covering text, settings not applying to my gameplay, out of sync dialogue, overlapping indistinguishable audio making a horrible clashing popping noise, server issues (to be expected tho), cinematics did not adjust to me settings, ECT... ECT...
D4 should be delayed 8-12 months for a shit load of polish, for consoles (played on ps4).
love how, no matter the occasion, Ralph will somehow find a way to talk about Destiny
He has to bungie has his address
Destiny should die
It’s a meme at this point
Or robocop
Hey, if it’s a relevant comparison, it works.
Redfall not letting your co-op buddies progress their stories if you host is a surefire way for me to never get the game.
100% I will never play a game that screws me over me like that and doesn't respect my time.
It feels like SUCH an outdated design choice.
I loved final fantasy crystal Chronicles and was super hyped about the remaster, until this was brought up about it, like why would I ever want to play through 4 different people's matches of the same map 4 times just to keep up with friends, it's such a terrible decision overall
Did resident evil 5 share campaign progress between players or was it like red fall?
This is like so many games lol
Ralph's ability to Introduce Destiny in every conversation is literally a superpower at this point. I can hear this man speak about Destiny at a funeral and it wouldn't suprise me.
He ain't wrong though, that bug is aweful.

Redfall manages to check all the boxes on what NOT to do in a modern co-op fps shooter
Edit: okay.. **almost** all of them
They could do worse. It doesn't have NFTs, after all
But it isn't an Epic exclusive and has no NFTs so you're wrong
All that's missing is a battle pass. Which, if it turned out there was one when the game launches, I wouldn't be surprised at this point.
Yeah No micro transactions and no block chain bullshit how dare they
Could be worse, it could always have a fucking battlepass.
The worst part is if Redfall still sells more than their more niche immersive sims I fear Arkane will be told "This is the new direction anyway".
Sadly that's already happened. Bethesda ruined Prey's chances, and the director of Arkane quit.
It's why Deathloop and now Redfall are not immersive Sims. They've given up on their path to make generic games.
@hidden. Well that's a bummer, I was wondering why Arkane seemed to be in a slump. Their first few games had such a strong and unique identity, probably thanks in large part to good direction. But lately I'm not even interested in playing them.
At least Bethesda is still on track... releasing unfinished games with overbearing anti-piracy measures and performance issues, good on ya Bethesda! They haven't exactly thrived under their new ownership.
I'm wondering at this point if Xbox has a clue how to manage games studios.
If that stops all the complaining over 30 fps on any game that is capped that way i'll take that sacrifice. And i love me some Dishonored.
@@TheMistyBlueLounge do you still have to wonder? How did you not notice considering their current gaming output and the state of Halo Infinite?
@@TheMistyBlueLounge you talking about the Bethesda that had a game of the year contender with Death Loop, Ghostwire Tokyo sitting with a pretty good metacritic score and Hi-Fi rush being one of the highest rated games this year, That Bethesda?
As a Warframe player I am very excited for The Duviri Paradox and its weirdness which is probably the most out there the game has been, and that's saying a lot given how out there the baseline is for the game.
I love that Warframe's aesthetic STARTS at Evangelion and then just gets weirder
Dreams was one of the most underrated games of all time. It is actually sad how few people ever even thought to play it
I've always wanted to play it but it never came to PC :(
It's amazing what people are able to create in it.
My biggest reason for not getting into it was because I felt for all the time I could spend learning the engine and creating my own assets and gameplay mechanics, I might as well just learn how to use a real game engine. I didn’t want to spend years making a game that could never be sold and where those skills aren’t transferable to other engines
I just didn't like the art style
@@TaylorFalk21 I felt the same way. Tried it out at the very beginning, but if I'm gonna put that much time in I wanna know UE or something. I already made that mistake with Snapmap from Doom (2016). Learned a ton about it and made some cool "proof of concept" stuff with custom behavior and logic that worked, but never could make anything deep or complete due to size and editor performance limitations, and could never make a real product in it.
Consistently a great weekly roundup. And excellent editing too. Channel is going to grow exponentially.
"30 fps for a First Person Shooter feels like garbage." Thank you!!!!!
It really shouldn't be a controversial take unless you're a big time console fanboy or something. Industry moved away from 30fps ages ago.
Even browsing on a desktop at 30-60 fps is trash
It is absolutely unacceptable. Xbox fanboys coping hard with "30 fps is fine". The way xbox fans never cease to defend the decade+ of terrible leadership and decision making boggles the mind
30 fps feels like garbage. Period.
any fanboy talk is cringe
i like xbox and gamepass but 30fps is trash
As always, best time of the week. Appreciate you Skill Up!
I met the developers of Strayed Lights just before Covid and chatted a bit about their game. So, so stoked to see my man Shill Up put this on his radar.
Speaking of games coming out May 2nd, Triumph studios is releasing the next entry in the Age of Wonders franchise. They only release a new mainline title once a decade at this point, and Age of Wonders 4 looks like it's inherited well from their new Paradox Interactive publishing
Thank you so much for your support on our game Strayed Lights in your video! It means a lot to the team. We are waiting for you on April 25th
favourite show each week before my work start is here~ thanks skill up
Great vid as always!! Thanks for what you do
14:33 Bears mentioning that Duviri Paradox is a coop-focused open world affected by five different emotional states, with a rogue-lite flow and progression (complete with side activities that grant passives), and a massive flying wyrm boss that, after players fly to it on their horses, requires climbing onto in order to defeat. And it's free...and it expands on The New War, a 5-6 hour campaign climax to the major story beats laid down in years past...and that's also free.
Yeah was kinda surprised Ralph never talked about New War when it launched. Was super pleasantly surprised to see the Duviri mention. Seems like Destiny has REALLY kept him out of the Warframe loop for a good while now haha
@Hagosha Ha, yeah. Honestly, I wasn't too surprised he didn't discuss New War more. He's said in other videos that he's had to pare down his gaming diet, and in terms of live services...Destiny won. And I try to respect that when possible, but...given how Lightfall's story disappointed, and how well New War was received, both in terms of narrative, gameplay variety, and the quality of the climax, it really deserved more attention paid to it. Especially in a live service genre/sector of the industry where live services and looters constantly do their stories dirty, and serve up the same tired gameplay...here's a 10 year strong free-to-play title that upended both of those fates and doing it gracefully and...barely gets a small sliver of a news show. 🤷♂️😔
@@RedShadowOfSaturn Couldn't have said it better myself 🥲
I love these weekly videos for making me aware of all the new games and dlcs coming out! I hope you're able to give the new major World of Warcraft patch a shout-out next week, it releases on the 2nd of May and the attitude towards the game at the moment is overwhelmingly positive - a big turn around from Shadowlands and it needs some love!
Yay love this day!! Your videos always make me Happy so Thank you! 😊
I look forward to these every week
“Surprisingly challenging” is an understatement when referring to boss encounters in Kena Bridge of Spirits. I consider them absolutely brutal. I could not beat the first proper boss encounter in normal mode, and had to stop playing. Maybe one day I’ll go back and revisit. Love the weekly content. I look forward to it always.
I rarely drop difficulty once I’ve gotten started but… holy crap. I had Dark Souls, Nameless King levels of difficulty out of the final boss on normal difficulty.
Worse than Cuphead?
@@markmurex6559 hah, probably not. The Dragon fight in Cuphead was the last straw. I loved the game, but that felt like enough of a challenge for me to retire there and then, halfway through the game.
I think the issue with Kena is the controls and game mechanics lack refinement. The parry is a good example with its 0.1 second window. Whereas in a From Soft game the controls are much more crisp and the difficulty spikes seem commensurate with your character’s level. In Kena I don’t feel this to be the case.
Look forward to these every week like I use to look forward to EGM and Gamepro mags monthly when I was kid. Your work is excellent, thank you.
He’s got the power,
they hvaent made those mags in years lmao
Skull Up. I love you man. Thanks for making my commute to work that much better.
Great video Ralph. Thank you. Will see you again next week
Bro I absolutely adored Lawbreakers when it came out and played it non stop. It was a fantastic game and it broke my heart seeing how the greater gaming community viewed and treated it. Honestly, there was nothing else like it. And I say this as someone who has played alot of other hero shooters.
It was unironically my favorite team based shooter. I barely even touched Overwatch while Lawbreakers was available. Way less coop/team comp based, with each character feeling genuinely unique and fun to play.
I hope it comes back, Cliffy B seems to have chilled and matured a lot as he's gotten older, and let's not forget, he knows how to make a fucking IP.
Same buddy! Loved this game!
He is too nice, he manage to use the only 20 seconds of gameplay from IGN where the guy looks like it knows what he is doing
Was waiting for you all day!
Love this show. Always learn about a game or two I hadn’t heard of. Keep it up!
Is it sad that I regularly listen to this weekly breakdown while mindlessly grinding my aRPG of choice at the time? Always give the like right at the beginning of the episode because I feel confident that there will be an Austin joke or comment in there somewhere and also that some Earth shattering announcement will come shortly after airing.
Are those games even fun if you have it watch something to keep yourself entertained while playing.
Well I mean enjoy what you enjoy. I'm pretty sure all of us at one pointed grinded a game we like while doing something else like talking to some friends or having some music.
I usually watch after work while unwinding with a beverage and whatever game I'm playing at the time lol
I just know that Austin and Ralph don’t want another repeat of Activision acquisition
Lawbreakers was awesome, hope to see a comeback
Indeed. I was there for most of the open and closed tests. Game was refreshing but ahead of its time, and it's a shame what happened because it could have been huge.
Trepang2 release has also been announced, June 21st 2023!
Asking Bungle to rework hit-scanning so that it's not tied to physics sounds like a simple ask, but I wouldn't know the first thing about how to do it and I imagine there's more than one reason why they can't without causing cascading issues that stem from just that change.
Man I really hope lawbreakers makes a comeback, would be awesome
yea lawbreakers return is a welcome one, dont mind trying other hero shooters, regards its devs..
Yeah lawbreakers was a really solid arena shooter with a high skill ceiling. Shame the game had no advertising and didnt do a great job of teaching the mechanics to new players.
really was hoping to see the SIfu arena update to be mentioned here! it deserves the exposure! it is just fantastic!!! and for free!
Thanks Ralph, helps a lot!
Good stuff, as always
Yall better start giving this man some more likes on his videos. Love watching him every week.
I'm on PC so shouldn't have the 30fps issue but I'm going to wait and see some reviews on Redfall before deciding whether to pick it up, the game just seems very iffy based on the previews. Hopefully it turns out well but better to wait and see.
I look forward to these videos every week.
Beyond blue is beautiful, great for a chill time if you love the ocean and pretty things
if that lawbreakers news is for real, i want it to come back, hopefully on console too. played a bit a of it a long time ago and loved it
Was arguabley the best FPS shooter I've ever played. It was wild to me that the gaming community didn't embrace it. There has never been anything like it
@@greatwhitnorth
It was definitely the marketing. When the director is calling a multiplayer game "The Dark Souls of shooters" it tends to leave a bad taste. Especially when a lot of other team/arena shooters were coming out around the same time.
A game I'm looking forward to checking out that's releasing in a couple of days is Stray Blade. Gives me soulslike combat meets Fable / Kingdoms of Amalur art-style vibes. Haven't seen a lot of info about it but think it's worth a look :)
Stray Blade? Are you a vampire ninja cat that needs to traverse the environment to eliminate the bad vampires? Is all I can think of.
Hearing you talk about warframe brought a smile to my face. When you started your warframe journey is when I subbed
Hey Skill Up, I was wondering if you'd mention Wildfrost. It's a game that came out last week from a very small team, but shows a lot of polish in its design and presentation.
I've been enjoying it in any case and just wanted more people to know about it.
Is it on PlayStation?
Thought I did this once before. Thanks for always saving me money, letting me know about cool games ahead of time...and I'm probably going to buy Lightfall and start playing Destiny because you keep talking about it every chance you get.
Thanks Ralph

I was genuinely worried about Tears of the Kingdom and then that trailer dropped 😳
what a great episode!
You're the man Ralph, love these weekly news vids. I work in the games industry and I still get most of my news here. 😉
prove it
I had little hope for Redfall from the beginning. The look of it and gameplay never struck a cord with the me. But given what we know about it now, the game looking like the hyper millennial version of Vampire The Masquerade but with all the charm, wit and cringiness of Forspoken is probably the least of it's problems.
Fortnite vampire edition
As an avid destiny player, this channel makes me happy. Clearly enthralled by the game, yet never afraid to take jabs at it. Truly one of us
Ralph is pretty fair when it comes to Bungie/Destiny.
That zelda trailer makes me feel things that I haven’t felt in a while
10:44 "we used to buy games that had no microtransactions or season passes, it was a much better time" one of the most accurate sentences said in history
@@bikechan9903 That's true, but it's also true that it was a better time then. I wanted to try a new Angry Birds and just couldn't stomach the new format all around micro transactions and boosts and all that BS. So, while there are games with nothing of the sorts, we still lose out on other potential other games.
@@bikechan9903 sure, but certain genres have completely evaporated from the "premium" purchase landscape. The majority of paid titles are ports of PC/console games and many of them have terrible controls.
Good luck finding a title you can play for 2-3 minutes at a time that doesn't try to nickel and dime you at all points.
“Overwatch’s greatest crime was killing Lawbreakers.”

There was a game exactly like Boundary several years ago. I can't remember what it was called anymore. But you're in space, arena shooter over debris/satellites/stations/asteroids. Sound being used very sparingly.
It was kinda fun and a neat novelty but not the most fun thing ever. I think it was called Shattered Horizon.
Love to be here at the drop, perfect way to start the day.
The most surprising news of the week is that Sega has money
Sega dreamcast portable is on its way 😁
Sega's sonic days might be behind them, but between the Atlus games and the Yakuza games, plus a pretty broad portfolio of genres, I will say that Sega is doing pretty well, despite them fucking up Sonic year after year.
Favorite upload of every week
im looking forward to seeing you hit 1M
Thank you for mentioning the games that use Denuvo. It's useful!
The biggest frustration for me re: Redfall's 30fps cap is that so, so much of the pre-release footage was shown at 60! The fact that the X/S can't reach 60 also makes me think the PC version is going to be.. rough, especially as it's an Unreal "Stutter Struggle" Engine 4? Probably going to be a tough launch.
Wow how have I never heard of Stray Gods before? It looks amazing
I've just picked up ZeldaBOTW in anticipation of Zelda II. I am a completionist. I have no free time for anything anymore for a long time, But I can't stay away from you guys. TY for your show
The Part about bungie traveling back in time to fix helpful bugs is so damn true 😂😂
I am curious, what is Denovo sales pitch that convinces so many developers to use them when it clearly doesn't work as advertised.
Its got a bad reputation for poor game performance, its despised by paying customers, games are like broken within days of release (often performing better due to the DRM being removed)...
how is it still being sold and used by companies? when according to reports they pay a fortune for something that fails!
Aside from poor performance which rarely happens since most games with Denuvo removed perform about the same as with Denuvo with rare exceptions like RE8, I agree. People hate Denuvo and due to some bad examples of Denuvo implementations, many people think that Denuvo just reduces performance and although it usually doesn't, the average person won't know that and adding Denuvo probably leads to a bit less sales. I guess the Denuvo marketing team is just really good or something.
Because it is working. As of right now, there's only one group/individual in the piracy scene that is able to crack denuvo and it takes them ages to do that. So now it's a situation where people in that scene have to wait for ages for any denovuo crack to show up. The performance hit sucks I understand but it is VERY clearly working well and companies know that.
The sales pitch is super easy. “How long do you want to wait to lose sales to piracy?” Because it will take 2 min if they don’t have an invasive anti piracy measures.
10 million for Star rail should not be a surprise when Genshin has like 60-70 million monthly players

Does "going gold" mean anything in modern gaming?
I'd imagine it means the same the same thing it always meant, the publisher decided it's at an acceptable enough state to release and they want their money back plus profit. Not every dev gets the luxury of releasing when they're happy with the product otherwise they'd all add an extra year, maybe two to squash more bugs and add more content.
Hey @skillup when you do eventually get round to doing your final fantasy 16 review can you do your old style artistic/philosophical reviews that made me fall in love with this channel? I know they probably take loads more time but those reviews were so good I occasionally rewatch them (which is unheard of for me!). Ones that come to mind are your monster hunter and especially nier reviews. I really miss that style!

Skill Up is one of the few I actually hit the like button for.
D2 pro tip: the main frame rate physics issues are when at or above 80 fps, so you can cap it in the 75-79 range (which is super playable, especially for pve, imo) and you’ll almost never run into those issues again.
I need a Lawbreakers return - not sure why it failed, but it was one of my favorite all-time shooters.
Same here, it was amazing
I'm so fucking ready if it does. I loved it so much
Same here! It was the best FPS of the past decade imo
Can anyone tell me what game footage is in background from 28:12
Rocksteady calling that delay a "tough decision" lol I can assure you that was not a tough decision, it needs to happen.
FREAKING OUT right now. Lawbreakers was a brilliant game. Anybody who thinks otherwise didn't actually play it. My favorite FPS of the past decade. I'd do anything to have it return!!
Suicide Squad and Redfall both feel like the result of a company chasing trends and not a product that was made because of the passion of those making them.
If you look close enough. You can see that in 90% of games released.
@AvengingFossil nahh 90% of all games.
Like all the souls-like RIP offs or battle royal games. AA teams are guilty too. Even indie dev's have an agenda. (Let's make castlevania sotn again but with rabbits instead of vampires.) Let's make the dark souls of metroidvania . Hardly any original ideas anymore. Ghostbusters followed the asynchronous trend and made a multiplayer only game....🤷♂️ gaming in 2023 is a travesty.
My favorite channel, my favorite reviewer and Aussie bro, covering my favorite games . . . What's not to love? GAMERS!
Had to laugh in your Squarespace promo when you were commenting on making a gaming review centred website and it was showing an image of someone using a Mac 🤣
That's a real shame for Redfall because 30 fps is unacceptable especially for a first person shooter.
With how infinite turned out, and now how redfall is looking…
I want acti-bliz games on game pass, but ngl, kinda worried about how MS will treat them going forward when the deal goes through. It feels like they’re mismanaging some of what they already have, then to dump all that extra IP and studios on top of that. Idk. Maybe I’m being paranoid.
That's the Microsoft Special
Was so excited for Redfall but everything that has dropped/been shown in the last few weeks has definitely doused all the hype. Also loved LawBreakers, real fun.
will there be a dead island 2 review?
Thank you for keeping me informed. I didn't realize there was a new Warframe update.
I remember playing LawBreakers, and it felt so slow then I watched TotalBiscuit review the game and he showed that if you fire backwards while in the 0g spots you'd go faster. THE GAME NEVER MENTIONED THAT! Then when I played with people and did this they thought I was cheating until I told them and every, single person I told this to was blown away.
They did show it in the trailer tho
