Cancelled Game Pass now switched my XBox series X on in weeks after playing Atomic Heart, I don't miss it, it will likely gather dust until something decent comes out at the end of the summer.
I wouldn't recommend anyone buy an Xbox they have to many negative issues lately.

Hey Shill Up...big fan...but note that Game Pass does not have more games than PS plus. It has more downloadable games (if only marginally). It also has more day one releases. But it has less games by a considerable margin. The downloadable and day one might be important to someone, but that doesn't make this statement correct.

I don't know why people are talking about Hi Fi Rush like it was supposed to be this big unit mover. It's a new IP shadow dropped onto Game Pass. It got less marketing than Ghostwire Tokyo! Considering the circumstances I'm not sure what else the game could have done.
Because it's good, and people tend to think good games sell themselves. While that can be the case (Minecraft and Terraria say hi), the reality tends to be much less romantic more often than not.
The amount of (positive) steam reviews make me believe it shifted a fair few copies while also being on Game Pass.
Yeah, there's a fair amount of evidence that would suggest the game performed pretty well. Not blockbuster well, but easily well enough for Xbox to be pleased all things considered.

We're seeing that experiment play out in real time, how far a crowd funded project can go before either sinking or swimming.
We need more AA games like Hi Fi Rush. Not every game needs to be a 150 million dollar project.
Only reason some of these games are reaching 200 million is because of the marketing. It would have been a lot smaller if we're not talking marketing.

I played HI-FI rush on game pass and enjoyed the game but my timing is awful. I remember HI-FI rush being talked about quite a bit and it was top on Steam for a while so I am not sure about it flopping.
It's not a flop. Microsoft said it was hit for them. Jeff Grubb who has questionable track record said that game didn't perform well

The hit timing in Rush is too strict and makes the game very unfun if you’re network streaming to a TV or using a dodgy BT controller. It’s fine wired up, but it’s not the sort of game I want to play in front of my computer. Wish I game passed instead of buying
FYI Ralph regarding the Battlefront 3 story. It was referring to the series Pandemic developed in the mid 2000s for the PS2/Xbox - not the more recent EA/Dice series.
I think Michael Barclay referred to the original Battlefront series when he spoke about Battlefront III being cancelled. Not the DICE one

I enjoyed Hi-Fi Rush, I would also enjoy if Microsoft would let me purchase it as a physical disc so I can have it for my collection.
You're in the extreme minority of gamers over on Microsoft's side who actually buy games so it wouldn't be profitable, they've already lost money on it so why lose more 🤷♂️

Clarification about the Star Wars Battlefront 3 thing. I'm fairly certain that he was talking about the one being published by Lucas Arts back like 10+ years ago. That one was so close to being done that a fully playable build of the game was snatched up by a digital archive to prevent it from being destroyed following the EA deal (iirc, the time frame is a bit weird). It was famously canned during the final round of QA, and was basically done.
I wait for this religiously every week reminds me of watching old gaming TV with my dad on the weekend!

for a game with no marketing and shadow dropped the same day it was announced idk how it was a flop. the fact it's widely recognized as one of those refreshing games while being fun all the way through among those who played IMO it's the best game that has released in 2023 so far.
Well, Tango Gameworks just had their studio expand, and I doubt Microsoft would be letting them hire more people if Hi-Fi Rush was a massive flop
Not everything needs to be a franchise. It was a good one off game that was as long as it needed to be and didn't overstay it's welcome

The ending is obviously teasing a sequel, imo. If it'll ever come out now is anybody's guess. Also, who's to say it has to be a direct sequel? It could be the same gameplay and art style with a different setting and characters. It would be cool and keeps it fresh. As much as I love the game, %90 of the environments were white lab walls. It'd be really cool to see different locations since we didn't get much in the way of level design.

Breathedge was pretty good. I am not usually a survival game fan, but I did enjoy Subnautica, and Breathedge felt similar in being nice and simple, big icons and buttons etc. True I didn't do anything with the base building but the bare minimum and using them as basically outposts.
Looking forward the your Jedi Survivor thoughts. Tempering my expectations as best I can but loved the first one so high hopes going into the second.
The first game has a lot of problems id be surprised if this game isn't better

I loved lawbreakers. I put in crazy hours and became pretty good at it. I’d jump back in for a bit if it came back
Sad to hear about hifi rush. I'm subscribed to both gamepass and ps plus. It doesn't happen much, but it was one of the few games I loved so much I went and bought it. Even if I have it "free" through GP. Since it wasn't $60-$70, I went ahead and bought the deluxe edition to show my support. Did the same with The Messenger when i played it on ps plus. I really wanted those games to succeed. Maybe in the future, hifi rush will get rediscovered and fan support for it blows up.

Let me elaborate. It's sad that the dev team seems to think it flopped. I assumed Microsoft is the publisher. Usually you hear the opposite where the dev team is happy or proud, and the publisher is disappointed.

Being a HUGE fan of the first game, the second one has been a massive disappointment I can't bring myself to play anymore after just a couple hours.
I just got really sad thinking about the end of E3. My 1st was in 98. I almost lost my mind when I saw Douglas Adams autographing posters for Starship Titanic. I couldn't speak to the man, I was so starstruck.

I tried fighting it twice in the previous beta tests at level 25 and I had lvl 13's and stuff showing up and it was making me so mad because it's impossible to do enough dps with a group like that.

Comes out on Thursday 27th of April for everything, to anyone who's interested. I'll just say that it's opening was made by Studio Trigger.

Hi-Fi Rush definitely didn't flop. It sold an incredible amount, and if anything, the $30 price tag makes it more accessible.
In terms of gamepass, many people still don't want it. I still stick to just Gold. Paying monthly for games that you don't own and will get removed at some point doesn't appeal to me.

It is a good game. I think very much inspired by Castlevania but heavy on the catholic guilt and torture, it's beautiful and/or gory in what they can do with it's pixel-ish art style . The 2D souls-like combat combined with metroidvania elements is great as well, I highly recommend the first game if you like what you've seen.

I work in marketing and I 100% believe that there's disagreement internally at Microsoft over whether or not Hi-Fi Rush gave them good ROI. This is a huge company with a lot of older dudes working in powerful positions that literally just don't understand metrics beyond sales and revenue numbers. The game likely didn't sell many units or make that much money but that clearly wasn't the goal. For driving new GamePass subscriptions, user retention, and share of voice, I'm sure the game did awesome.
It was probably viewed internally at xbox as a prestige title, which is there to bolster the reputation of the service and the platform rather than specifically make money (similarly to how Sony first party games work, they sell well enough but not compared to how much they cost to make, but they make people look at the platform itself more favorably)

You've been missing out then. Xcom, darkest Dungeon, into the breach, battle brothers, divinity original sin 2, etc. There's a lot of turn based games in the market that do things very differently from the norms of the past and reinvigorate the genre.
@@bruhder5854 I've played most of those and really enjoyed them. Divinity original sin 2 and xcom are some of my favourite game of all time. Which is why I said I didn't think turn based games can get as stressful as darkest dungeon.
The darkest dungeon demo was a massive tutorial explaining every stat in a very Microsoft excel style tutorial for 2 hours, followed by killing me in the 10 minutes after. Turns out rogue likes and lites are not for me

@@LogicalError007 A multi trillion dollar company can afford to expand a small team. This isn’t PS where Sony live and die by their gaming division and can’t afford to lose money. Xbox is like a small side project for MS. This ABK deal is the first real big bet they are taking. After this redfall performance stuff, and Ghostwire running objectively better on rival hardware. I’m not sure how well their Bethesda deal is paying off. From the sounds of a Godd Howard interview a few months back sounds like starfield will be 30fps also, though that’s slightly more forgivable than it is in redfall

I don't know if you read any of these comments, Ralph, but the Battlefront 3 they're talking about isn't the sequel to the recent EA Battlefront series, but the old-school OG Xbox/PS2 series from Pandemic--well before microtransactions and loot boxes existed.
