Titanfall 3 (basically) existed but now it's gone, the Halo series is being rebooted (again) and the era of the live-service game feels like its coming to an end.

The Day Before....they should call it The Derivative.
Hi! are You reviewing Hogwarts?
too
I will never forgive EA's treatment of the Titanfall franchise. I've never seen such a great franchise seemingly set up to fail.
Between launching on a failing console(OG Xbox one) sandwiching the release date of the sequel between COD and Battlefield(of which EA owns) and now it’s forever stuck as a BR. Tragic
Titanfall and The Division, two IP that deserve better publishers.
I have, it was known as Mirror's Edge!
Something familiar about that title too...
Its not EA's fault it's respawns they wouldn't fix the MP DDOS attack which have been going on since Jan 2021, EA left the ball in Respawns court on that one and they didn't/woudln't fix it
Halo 👀
EA’s treatment of Titanfall is like if someone shot themselves in the foot, refused to go to the doctor, and then acting surprised that the wound got infected. Then, when they finally give in and head to a doctor, they have a psychotic breakdown and amputate their entire leg.
That is so accurate!
So, EA needs to be instituted?
@@kjj26kyes, and all their IP’s handed over to a responsible steward.
It’s not even a good game
@@no_methin_about Doesn't matter if you think it's good. There are a lot of people who love it. That's more important for them. :)

Titanfall 2s campaign was so amazing. It’s the only game I ever played thru in a single night because I wanted to keep seeing the story. Such a weird thing to not capitalize. And criminally underrated. Please if you’ve only ever played titanfall for multiplayer, go try the campaign!!
Bought the game and lost it before I got to play it (or some fukkboi stole it but I'm really not sure) either way I believe it because still to this day people lament it

The only upside is we'll never have to see garbage Apex characters trying way too hard to be funny in a Titanfall single player campaign. That would have borderline ruined the game.
On topic of game preservation... Does anyone remember when devs were releasing servers, so players could host their own multiplayer matches? An elegant technology for a more civilized age.
It really speaks to the malignant arrogance of modern game companies that they won’t let people run their own servers. They’re effectively saying “you WILL play on our servers, against people WE say you’ll play against, and you won’t be able to play it in three years.”
@@TheMacel66
Except, apparently they do.
It's that toxic mix of maliciousness and incompetence that makes the world so much worse at the human scale.
@candyman They do because then they cant force their playerbase to buy the next 70$ multiplayer game that dies in 1y. Rinse and repeate
Not to mention it would require them to dedicate resources to handle the server side code. As little as it might be, requires to pack it to a binary or repo, creating public docs and other stuff, obviously more complex servers such as valve's that allow mods and other stuff that require more resources.
They rather allocate those resources to make more micro transactions
Funnily enough, the devs of Knockout City are trying to put out basically a personal/private server option that'll allow the game to live past the server shut down
Just finished Titanfall's 2 campaign. Sad to see the story won't be wrapped up

fact of the matter is that we lost out on a singleplayer Titanfall game
@@anshitgupta1294 apex and titanfall are the same universe
I really think there is going to be a renaissance of single player game focus. With so many live service games demanding all of your time and engagement, as a player I have to choose one, maybe two to really invest my time into and progress in. Once the player population starts to dip, my experience with the game gets worse since its balanced and monetized with a larger population in mind. Single player games are more of a safe bet since I just need the game to be fun on its own and I can determine if that alone is worth my money. I've been getting into fewer online games lately due to lack of time and I think I'm not alone in that; as more people do and investors see that more people are getting the one-time-payment, single player game, I hope there's more emphasis put on that side of the game market
Oh you lovely innocent soul. You underestimate the stupidity of the AAA gaming industry
This renassiance is ongoing in the indie/AA-gaming space. Indie game devs can be laser-focused on doing 10 things or less superbly well, creating passionate, devoted, and small fan-bases. As long as indie developers (see: Supergiant) and publishers (see: Devolver Digital) keep their scope in check and remain private companies, they'll be profitable AND make great games/art.
I bet America gets nuked before any games get released.

The 2010s will be remembered in time as the blank decade, with how many games will just disappear out of reach for preservation. We've had SO many games that are just... gone. Completely and utterly deleted. We have known this since GaaS has really started taking off but... man, the reality of that is kinda hitting in waves.
I mean, it's generally only the always-online titles that sink entirely, which is convenient because those don't quite have the reputation of artistic or societal significance people see as the requirement for preservation. At least not in comparison to peers like the Valve games, _most_ Bethesda games, RDR1+2 and GTAV, I believe Minecraft(?) and potentially a bunch of VR games, depending on how the 2020s are gonna go for that industry.

Great content as always, so sad to hear the news about titanfall 3. EA will learn when FromSoftware comes out with their Mech game revival that they made a HUGE mistake
The “live service shutdown kills access to single player content” issue could very well be the next big battle in gaming.
The idea of a flagship, $70 title like redfall eventually being unplayable is wild.
This is why I'm glad all the live service games are failing.
I've ready seen games where single player content was lost to shut down of servers an it BS when it happens.
That's the thing, players don't own the games. If you ever actually check the terms of service you'll find you are purchasing the right to play the game, not own it, and it can be revoked for any reason whenever they want.
@@cyd_hunter99 I don't care what the terms of service say, if i pay for a single player game i should have access to it in perpetuity. If push comes to shove I don't care if we have to legislate policy that forces these corps to do whats right but its a simple reality that must exist. This is also why physical media is so important, you can scream and cry all day how I dont own my copy of ocarina of time but 25 years later I still have full access to it. 🤷♂
@@mookiestewart3776 you realize physical media isn't immune to this right? Why do you think so many "physical" games require downloads or online check-ins?
Also wtf dude, why are you screaming at me? I didn't say I endorsed this bullshit.
Anyways, good luck "legislating" anything, that's the most naive idea I've ever heard.
Having the sponsor at the end is something I wish other creators would do. Its easy to just get your content then let the video play out a few extra minutes to allow the sponsor segment to finish.
The problem is some sponsors have contracts that stipulate they can't have it at the end of their videos.
And I’m sure data would bare out that putting the ad at the end results in the smallest number of actual views. Some people who care about specific creator and want to improve their payouts might let it play out, I imagine most don’t.
You're getting paid 1/3 -1/10 for putting the ad at the end of the video.

Titanfall 2 was, and still is, the greatest first person shooter I've ever had the pleasure of playing. No doubt it would be one of the greatest too if it wasn't released between two industry giants.
Really bumped out about this.
Regarding "Final Fantasy Day": the association Square registered the date with just takes payment to keep track of important corporate dates, this is a big thing in Japan overall to celebrate anniversaries. It has nothing to do with national holidays and the only thing you need to do is pay like 500 bucks to make it happen.

If Armored Core 6 is good and gets mass appeal (which it probably will given From's track record since Dark Souls), EA is gonna regret killing its prime mech game
Maybe not regret, but they’re definitely gonna feel it in the morning when Armored Core drops.
That could set up a titanfall 3,but then there is still the issue of no titanfall devs left
To be fair, its very much on brand for EA to be completely out of touch like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they double back to Titanfall after they see Armored Core 6's sales.
Titanfall? When playing either of them, never did I have "oh this is like a mech game" in my mind, I don't know how widespread it is.
How many like other mech games because they like Titanfall? Titanfall is more its own thing.
I saw Armored Core 5, I believe, on Steam a few days ago and I had zero interest in it. Doesn't look fun. Titanfall 1 and 2 were fun.
Armored Core 6 can have a billion people playing it, it no doubt will still not be like Titanfall and appeal to Titanfall players, but I only know that it doesn't for me.
At this point it feels like Valve bought the Titanfall games

@WesNemo has an interesting take on the Titanfall situation - that with the closure of apex mobile and a single player apex spin-off, Respawn still hiring for significant positions for the unannounced Star Wars FPS insinuating that it’s far off, and the huge brand recognition of the Titanfall universe through apex legends, they’re clearing their schedule and staff for development of the next Titanfall.
Why would they take them off the single player project then? If that were true I'd think they'd modify the existing project goals not scrap it and re-assign the devs
We need to just put EA out of business at this point. They’ve done more harm than good to the gaming market. Titanfall will forever remain my no. 1 favorite gaming universe of all time with halo, and crysis in 2, and 3 respectively.
We need some kind of organization dedicated to hosting defunct live service games, or at least porting them to offline, singleplayer modes.

Titanfall always got shafted. Tf1 was an xbox/pc exlcusive, and tf2 launched right between the two biggest fps games on the planet. With the popularity of apex, you'd think tf3 would be a no brainer but alas, someone at ea/respawn doesn't think right
Most likely EA. Basically they are thinking short term instead of the long term. Long term planning is that you have to take a hit and release a single-player Titanfall game that would never bring as much money as Apex Legends. Its budget wouldnt even have to be in the millions. Instead EA thinks developing a single Titanfall game is a waste, when Respawn could make another Apex Legends or a new IP that has microtransactions and online purchases. They are right ofcourse, but they are wrong in the long term. Because these things dont establish a franchise, they dont establish goodwill with the consumers. I understand Titanfall IP was mismanaged by EA, but still it could produce enough stuff to be viable and thus help the company as a whole. EA probably thinks any IP is not worth it if it doesnt have income as much as FIFA or Apex Legends..
Best gaming news show. Thank you
Although the side-by-side shots of The Day Before are... hilarious, I'm all for it. That's what we want, something that pays homage to the beautiful atmosphere and imagery of the games we love and package it all in an openworld zombie apocalypse (also with co-op & base building plz). At least they recreated the scenes and didn't just copy/paste them - fair enough. As for the emptiness in the world, I rather enjoyed that in games like Infestation, H1Z1, & DayZ. I thought it actually made the game more suspenseful when I was alone scavenging for an hour or two only to let my guard down and then get an adrenaline rush when I spot some players near by. I also like the minimalist UI approach. No crosshair until you ads and no clunky UI to take away for the atmosphere. At least until you open something like the crafting UI or inventory. It may only be hidden for the demo but I hope it stays like that.
Don't know if they'll be able to deliver the game we're all hoping for or not but I like the direction it's going. Fingers crossed!
Generally not a big FPS fan but Titanfall and Titanfall 2 were soo much fun! Shame that there won't be another.

I think all the big releases are at the end of the month so he should have alot of time to review hogwarts, given that I don't actually don't know how much time it takes him to make a review I'm not assuming anything but I hope he's not skipping it because of the weird "controversy". Especially since, as you said, it's one of the biggest releases this year.
@@alenezi989a3 He probably is just going to skip it because of the controversy. Ralph is all about the brand and has grown too much to take an unnecessary risk with something as infamous as Hogwarts Legacy is right now.
@novachikun it's sad tbh, not because of this specific game, but the state of things in general where a group of weirdos make up a controversy and people just give in, giving them more power to control people's lives. I noticed that almost all the channels I follow are not playing the game.
