isn't "birth control" also anticonceptivo? Also "airways" would also be "vías respiratorias", I never heard of "vías areas". The term "derrame cerebral" can also be "stroke" not just "seizure". Hope that helps! Thanks for your videos.

The most accurate term for “anticonceptivo” is “contraceptive” due to the etymology. However, “birth control” is a general term that was later introduced that involved many procedures that managed natality, including birth control. Therefore, “birth control” was by default associated interchangeably with contraceptive, but technically is not correct. The linguistic proof: Anti (Greek for “opposed”), Con (Latin “convergence”), Cep ( Latin capare “to capture”). The CORRECT and accurate linguistic rendering for “birth control” is “control de natalidad”, which involves many things, not only the interruption of conception. In regards to “vías respiratorias”, the correct rendition is “respiratory tract” or “respiratory duct/conduit” since, the word “air way” is the exact transparent medical term for “vía aérea”. Some dictionaries, however, use the term interchangeably nowadays but again, the association is not correct. As for “stroke”,’again the term is misused: the etymology for “stroke” comes from the Greek “apoplexia” (which technically mean to be struck by G-d’s handle). The term was coined in 1599 and has nothing to do with the modern definition for stroke. On the other hand, the etymology of “derrame” comes from Latin “de” (from top to bottom) and “ramus” (branch), as an offshoot of liquid and gas through a conduit. If you check medical dictionaries, the referential term “seizure” is more accurate than stroke since the etymology of seizure comes from the adoption in late 15th century from Old French, attested in 1779 for “sudden attack of illness”, therefore, “derrame cerebral” and “seizure” are almost synonyms. Incidentally, the Greek word for “derrame” is “epilepsia”, corresponding the chain of symptoms with the ones of a seizure, Therefore, there are used interchangeably. I hope the explanation was clear .

“Joints” are “Articulaciones”, not “uniones” when it comes to medical terms. “Joint pain” is “dolor en las articulaciones”. Now if you are talking about plumbing, then “joints” are “uniones”, but for body parts it is articulaciones or you could also say “coyunturas”.

Let me explain the subtle difference of both terms. The real medical etymology of the word “coyontura” comes from the Latin word “co - iunctura (unión)”. Using the word “articulación” is unna curate, since the etymology of the word comes from the Latin root “articulus/articulare” meaning the “movement of the joint”. Therefore, at the time of using the most accurate rendering, the correct term is “uniones”, not “articulaciones”, since most of medical settings the LEPs describe the pain localised in the area, followed by subsequent medical assessment. This is why doctors ask the patients: “Please POINT where your pain is.”
