- Mon Mothma's meeting with Luthen Rael in his antiquities shop was FULL of Star Wars easter eggs. Today I'm fully covering every piece I recognized, and speculating on a few that I didn't, but still liked!

He would also probably figure out Luthen's true intentions with the shop almost immediately.

Given the time period and Thrawn's large collection, it's not unlikely he's been in there.

I much prefer these more subtle Easter eggs than an overload of cameos.
Very much agreed. This is not only subtle, but also elegant and complements the flavour of the important scene, not overpower it.
It definitely fits the theme of this series. I don't expect to see any light saber battles at all. No Jedi, no Sith. Just little people living under the weight of the empire.
@@Galaxy613 nope. Each Star Wars show or movie has had 1 lightsaber appear on screen. Andor will have a scene like that.

Favorite part of the Sith Stalker Easter egg is that it isn’t the endgame helmet, it’s the DLC helmet design with the cheek blade plates

honestly, one of my favorite armor sets in all of Star Wars. Glad parts of it are canon again.

Hey Alex, at 8:20 I think those white pillars are ancient Zeffo artifacts. We see huge pillars just like that in Jedi Fallen Order.
I don't know. The markings don't look Zeffo to me but the look of the pillars themselves sure reminds me of Zeffo pillars and wind chimes.

They look like tabanna gas refineries/moister vaporators. That’s why they look familiar.

I don’t even know why, but the gungan shield is probably my favorite Easter egg in this scene. As someone who grew up with the prequels and never hated Jar Jar, I always appreciate gungans getting recognition.
Yeah, even my mom liked the gungans. It’s weird that most people hated them.

What's cool about the sith stalker armor is the added-headed horns are styled in a very similar manner to the second great unifier of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's own kabuto helmet!
That whole piece reminded me of some of the Japanese armor (gusoku?) in the museum in my city.
Yeah, I didn't recognize it as Starkiller's armor, but I did recognize it as looking like space samuari armor.

I thought of that when I first saw it and I'm glad to see there are people like me who enjoy Star Wars an Japanese History at the same time !
To me, the coolest "Easter Egg" is the fact that they hired Genevieve O'Reilly for Episode III, but most of her scenes were cut. They then brought her back for Rogue One and again for Andor.
It might be worth mentioning that the TCW two-parter, in which Ahsoka and Chewbacca team up against Trandoshan hunters, there is also the Crystal Skull from Indy 4 on display amidst the wampa furs and stuffed Gungans. And while Obi-Wan Kenobi is undercover as Rako Hardeen, Cad Bane shops for a new hat on Nal Hutta and briefly examines Indy's fedora. And then there are obviously countless nods at Temple of Doom in the Jar Jar and Mace Windu team-up two-parter in Season 6, so there were plenty of Indiana Jones easter eggs to go around in that series.
Don't forget the staff of ra that is put on that guys grave in that season 1 episode where jar jar is on a mission and his ship crashes (its been a long time since I've seen it so I don't remember the exact episode)
The ring on the left of the neckless reminded me of the hairpiece Padme uses on her last time in the senate. The "this is how liberty dies" scene.
The white pillars remind me of the zeffo counter weights throughout the puzzles in their temples. And after seeing ObiWan I think people at lucasfilm definitely had fallen order on their minds

The reason why I like all these Easter eggs and lore references in this show is that they are never brought forward in a sort of "tada" moment. As you say, the scene was so engaging, you don't even pay attention until after you think about it. That is a good way to avoid doing fan-service but also place your story firmly into the built-universe. For those characters, these things belong in their world, and in this show it feels very organic.

Don't know if someone's pointed this out already, but the three quadruped figures (to the right of the cauldron 8.17 in the video) are Chiwara, i.e. ritual antelope sculptures used in traditional Bambara masks (modern day Mali). Not sure what they're doing a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, but it's nice to see them anyhow!
First, I love Luthen's cover as an antiques dealer to front his plans for rebellion. That feels perfect for some reason and its execution was excellent. I loved seeing him slip seamlessly between his cover and his true persona and seeing his assistant distract Mon Mothma's driver was also really great.
I completely missed a lot of these in my first viewing, I was too focused on the scene. Obviously I saw the suit of armor behind Mon Mothma but I did not for the life of me make the connection to Starkiller until someone pointed it out to me after and it blew my mind. That design was dope and it's a great inclusion. Same with the Mortis tablets. Those are really interesting. I don't think they mean anything, I just think they're fun inclusions for fans who know what they are and I think the art department just went wild with some of these. I don't think those are the same tablets Ezra and Sabine use to unlock the Lothal Temple in Rebels or anything but if you want to go deep into it, they could be seen as proof of what's implied in those epiosdes, that the Temple on Lothal was just one of many access points to the World Between Worlds throughout the galaxy and there are probably similar murals and tablets at other locations. The kalikori was also a cool inclusions, I love that lore from Rebels. Same with the beskar chestplate.
I did not notice the holocrons (assuming they are meant to be) at all, it's cool to see them in liveaction. Hopefully we get a liveaction story where holocrons are central to things, bring them into the larger fold. I do have to wonder how Luthen acquired all this stuff and whether he truly understands all of the significance because even just those holocrons can be dangerous in the wrong hands or if it's all just part of his cover, which I think fits just fine. Having all these items on display but not really knowing or caring what they mean is totally something a high society Imperial on Coruscant would do so that's perfect for Luthen.
Hopefully we'll get more looks at what he has in there in future episodes, it was fun to pick the scene apart afterwards for both incredible character moments and the nerdy details that lie beneath the surface. I'm sure people who do trivia contests will be having a field day with just that one room
Amen on the holocron in live action! It still burns me that they tossed away the perfect opportunity to do this in RoS, instead labeling what was probably intended to originally be one as the "wayfinder"! Just as bad as "Master Codebreaker", when we already had the term "slicer"...
I like the cover too. And the skills it takes the actor to play both roles at the same time. It’s two opposite characters.
Antique dealer is the best cover because it gives him a reason to be all over the galaxy, even in forbidden sectors. And it implies he has knowledge of smuggling and the black market. He could even have contacts with the Trade Federation or Crimson Dawn.
A new easter egg showed up in either the last episode or the next to last episode. One of the Naboo royal crowns that may have been worn either by Padme or one of the Queens after her is on display.
Those white pillars are VERY reminiscent of the counterweights used in the puzzles you solve on Zeffo in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
All the easter eggs are cool, but why is no one talking more about the Rakatan Empire!? As far as I know this is the 1st time it was mentioned in cannon. Bringing the Rakatans in opens up so many possibilities...mainly a KotOR series or trilogy, since the Star Forge was built by them. IDK it just seems weird to me that no one is talking about it...what are your thoughts Alex?
It was also my favorite easter egg/reference in this episode. Rakata Prime has been on canon galactic map sice 2015 I think, but I also think is the first mention of the species in canon. Combining this with revan and bastila funkos, revan's lightsaber merch and his mention on the visual dictionary of Rise of Skywalker, I think is more clear than ever that Disney will explore the old republic in the near future

Their homeplanet of Lehon/Rakata Prime is so far canon, and there was a wraith box in Dryden Vos' treasury that was Rakatan in origin.
In fact, there is something in Star Wars Resistance where it had something called 'The Legend of Lehon' where it is believed that Tatooine was once a lush world inhabited by the Kumumgah. This may suggest that, in comparison to legends, they don't know if it's real or not due to the lack of evidence.
You seriously think they're gonna make a KOTOR series when the remake is indefinitely delayed and all the shows are mainly taking place before ANH and after ROTJ???
@@KingShibe They already announced an animated series set on the high republic, ad acolyte is on the horizon. Also, star wars explore different mediums, so maybe a show set in the old republic isnt the priority, but doesnt mean they cant exolore it on books, comics or games (KOTOR remake is reportedly under a new studio already, so lets hope)
All these ancient relics and such, makes me want to see a live Doctor Aphra pop up at some point.
I don't know how many times I've watched this scene, it's becoming maybe one of my favorites in all of Star Wars. All of these artifacts are insane, I was staring so hard at everything in the background. And the dialogue is just masterful, so layered and subtle. And the acting was just superb
Just imagine the team who got to outfit that room. Would have been one of the best jobs, finding how many easter eggs you could hide, taking non-canon and making it canon, going into old prop storage and pulling stuff out (I kinda am envisioning/hoping that the Gungan shield is a real prop from Ep1...)
But... the stress and pressure on getting it right and not upsetting fans!!! Intense!

what a cool episode. easter eggs and little nuggets all over, and not just in the shop. the Rakatan. the battle that he referred to being in when he was 16 being the one from SOLO. they are tying in a lot of cool stuff!
Alex, I'm telling you, the World Between Worlds is the answer for all the easter eggs between Indiana Jones and Star Wars, and probably Willow, too, while we're at it, I'm sure there's something hidden somwhere in the movie and I bet there will be others in the show. If the void exists outside of time and space, and if it can manifest portals whenever needed or when certain steps are performed, then it seems to me like there's a reasonable possibility for artifacts, items, replicas and such (perhaps even people), to be found crossing between the worlds. At the very least, you can have this as your headcanon, it certainly is mine.
The Sith stalker armor wasn't even Canon pre Disney

@@SleevelessSleeves except when game characters like Kyle Katarn turned up in the Books and Dash Rendar's Outrider ship type from the Shadows of the Empire game, comics and book book turned up in the remake of A New Hope in the added in scenes.
I was very pleased with this scene. A lot of cool Easter Eggs for fans to find. I found myself pausing at certain frames... but I've got to say that I loved the Sith Stalker and Mando armors. So cool.
I think it’s likely that Luthen slips a bit of money so that any imperials that may take notice of his holocrons turn a blind eye.
they're in a back room shelf, 15 years after the end of the clone wars. Anyone who still remembers what those boxes really are will probably never walk in to this shop, so I think he's safe.
@@davidbergfors6820 I’m sure any imperial officer will know what special Jedi or sith items regular people aren’t allowed to have. Palpatine really wanted to make sure he had all of that and it wasn’t just floating around the hands of the public. Don’t you think imperials would know their own rules? The empire doesn’t just leave it up to its people to happen to remember something from a special small religion that was all but destroyed 15 years ago. Anyways 99% of non-Jedi wouldn’t have ever heard about a “holocron” so the empire must tell its people about it and other illegal artifacts.
Like I mentioned, there is also the possibility that these Holocrons are either replicas, or they are "registered" and "officially noted" to be "replicas"
Or there’s a plot twist coming in which Luther is actually working for the Emperor and will double-cross Mothma and the team that Andor has joined?
I really love the idea the writers are adding a monetary aspect to the show. In reference to commodities of the shop’s inventory (hidden Easter eggs), and “the bank heist” by the Alliance rebels. Just by these parts of the show, it raises the intellectual value. 🧐👌

I don't know if it's just me but the overall look of the armor with Sith stalker helmet strongly reminds me of the armor of Tulak Hord.
That makes sense. The sith modeled their armors after one another so the similarities are not a coincidence

Since you are the first SW CZcamsr I have seen so far mention them, I will tell you the reason you recognize the three columns in the store is because those are the Millennium Falcon controls. :)
Also the speech of the ISB director where he compares the bureau to health care worker could be a reference to SWTOR MMO or more specifically to imperial agent story line where the Keeper of the Sith Imperial Intelligence in a very similar speech to the player compares his organization to sanitation workers. Considering that this Andor episode also contain a reference to the Rakata from KOTOR/SWTOR series that is highly likely.
This series is supremely well written and thought through. In my opinion it’s the best spinoff so far.

I was belly laughing as soon as I saw all the stuff around the shop. Normies complained there were no Easter eggs, meanwhile I was getting excited by background characters and y-wing engines. This show rocks
Pillars look like they might be from Lothal. The white and gold matches the aesthetic of what Lothal looked like before the empire took over and built factories, plus there are Loth cats on top!
After some research is does indeed look like a lothal mound with a loth cat sitting on top. it looks like in ancient times they would dig out these mounds in rings to live inside of them. A good example is season 4 episode 7 of rebels towards the end after the loth wolves teleport them across the planet
I love the depth of all of these easter eggs. For example, more casual Star Wars fans like me will notice the Mandalorian armor and Starkiller armor instantly and be satisfied with those. However, the deeper stuff like the stone, Twi'lek braid, and the gungan shield are there for the more dedicated Star Wars fans and they can also feel satisfied.
I also think his suggestion for a gift is symbolic for Mon Mothma’s relationship. Sun goddess and serpent. Also I’m Mon Mothma Stan of course
The cudgel looks very much like the wooden war clubs used in the pacific islands and THAT could be a reference to the pacific islander fighting styles, which Temura Morrison brought into canon in the Book of Boba Fett...
The hand symbols on the tablets are also the hand symbols used in close encounters of the third kind.
You missed Shmi's studded bracelets/cuffs in the back row near the Kalikori!
I am loving the political introduction of SW Lore in Andor. I agree it is written so well that the dialog reveals certain Lore characters rarely seen on screen plus the references to galactic events. So good to see 👍
I was really hoping for this video! When I saw this scene I knew there would be all sorts of goodies, but I never catch them.
Those glass pillars remind me of an Age of Resistance comic where there was some ancient glassy planet full of intricate towers that the First Order destroyed. I wish I remembered what it was called! It took place after the Force Awakens, I think, and the glass towers were destroyed by the First Order since the people harbored the Resistance. But I'm pretty sure they were supposed to be famously ancient so it could be their relics in Luthens shop?
It wasn't in an Age of Resistance-comic, it was in Star Wars: Allegiance and the planet was called Tah'Nunna. You're lucky it's one of my favourite Star Wars-Comics ever.

I feel like Genevieve O'Reilly would also have played a really great live action Satine Kryze if she hadn't already been cast . Ah well , I guess we'll never know . Loving how Andor is playing out . It still feels like Star Wars , but so completely different from everything that came before .

Favourite Easter egg in this episode was 100% the ROTJ speeder bike. I literally gasped. God, I love a good speeder.

In the Kenobi episode “Part III,” Ben Kenobi and Princess Leia are assisted by Tala Durith who gives them both shelter in her workshop on Mapuzo. Within a secret room, a wall covered with names is visible. Among the Jedi who passed through Tala's workshop are the names Valin Halcyon, Djinn Altis, and Roganda Ismaren.

In the scene where mon mothma is returning the goddess/serpent with the same mouths artifact, i can see a jedi temple guard mask on display. The jedi mask is screen-right / Luthien's Left, next to the gauntlets on display, as he is presenting her the monk cudgel.

The pillars are a callback to the Petranaki Arena, from Attack of the Clones. The three pillars Anakin Padme and Obi Wan were chained to.
When he donned the white wig and was found to be running a museum of ancient artifacts, all I could think of was Benicio del Toro's Taneleer Tivan. LOL

Luthen is like the Trazyn The Infinite of the Star Wats universe. Legend has it that he had both the tall blue and short red version of the Snaggletooth action figure, and a Boba Fett with the spring-loaded missile backpack. Palpatine tried to buy them from him, but he said “these are worth more than you’ve got, old man.” He was then electrocuted by force-lightning, and Palpy discovered that they were just bootleg counterfeits from Chinatooine or Russiapau.
I swear I've seen the one to the left of the "gold necklace thing" you mention but I'm having the same trouble placing it.
I knew this video was coming the second we saw this shop.
This is the greatest show to happen to the franchise since the Mandalorian, it's original, it's not all lightsabers and space battles, it's visceral and real, personal to the point you can actually relate to the characters emotions. It's about time the lore is expanded into something not related to the Skywalkers, though I was a big fan of Obi Wan. Can't wait to see what the success of this show spawns other shows in the future

As others may have pointed out, the helmet is actually from the Lord Starkiller design from the DLC, not the Sith Stalker design from the endgame cutscene, Either way its absolutely awesome that it was added.
Very well done! I so agree with you, that I had to rewatch, as the story was excellent and engaging. Although I enjoyed Obi Wan, I find Andor stimulating with a greatly crafted story ark!❤

My take on the two faced divinity was that the sun goddess kinda represents Mon Mothma, doing the work from above, at the political level, the ivory tower, if you will, while Luthen is doing the work on the ground, like the serpent, hidden in the grass. There share a mouth - an ideology and a cause - two faces working to the same objective.

7:18 the real life artifact very similar to this is a double serpent made of wood with turquoise layered over you can see it in the British museum.
This show does easter eggs perfectly. If you don’t notice it, you don’t feel like you missed anything but if you do notice it, it’s really cool. I’m not a big fan of when shows linger on things solely for the purpose of making a reference.
The armor looks more like some ceremonial or some royal guard armor to me considering the big spikes on the helmet. So I guess the just gave that armor Starkillers helmet as an Easter egg und didn't intend for it to be sith armor because that would be very impractical.
I could see the armour as the armour of 'Sith Stalkers' and they were around in the canon takes of the old Sith Empires potentially.

The stones at 1:49 are actually the exact stone from Rebels S4: Dume that the wolves bring Ezra! They can be seen at 19:25 in that episode.

Maybe those pillars remind you of the IG-88 heads that are usually behind a bar in Star Wars cantinas? They reminded me of those :D
I think they overlooked how important holocrons really are. I mean if they really did think about it there's no way it's just going to be on some random antique shelf, nevermind it being on Coruscant of all places. I think it's just a fun background prop and there's no real significance.
