    The Y-Wing is an interesting choice. If I recall right, the reason why the Rebels stripped it from the armor that the Y-Wing sported during the Clone War is because the maintenance and mechanic crews had to access the internals of the Y-Wing soo frequently due to breakdowns that it was simply easier to pluck the armor plates off for accessibility.

    The AIAT at the end reminds me a lot of the Bebop. I guess a starship designed for aerodynamic water landings and full of bounty hunters would do that.
    For me, I'd want a small crew of trusty lads and lasses (having someone to watch your back when tracking down bounties is a huge help), and look for a Gozanti. It's kind of ho-hum to look at, but with the right mods and upgrades... Well, there's a reason why they're still flying despite being older than most of the crew's grandparents. Being able to dock and carry smaller ships is something most of the ships on this list can't do, and gives our outfit a lot of flexibility. Going with a ship that can function as a carrier or mothership means I don't have to choose between either a Y-Wing _or_ a U-Wing. We could grab one of each.
    It also gives us plenty of space, and that's important for a bounty hunter. Not just for the needs of basic living facilities, specialty gear storage, and holding spaces for bounties, but you'll be spending a lot of time on board. Having room to do maintenance, research dirt on targets (and clients!), plan operations, patch up cuts and burns, or even just stretch out and maybe exercise a bit between ground ops is important.

      @huoshewu Před 2 lety +5

      HAYYOOOO! Gozanti for the win. Sure, you have to have a crew of about 10 people, and BH are usually loners, but a team like that could be an Ocean's type of thing, but permanent. Has room for aircars and whatnot as well. Plus four fighter ports on the bottom. It could be a small, but disastrous ship combat at a moments notice. It's why the Empire used them for system patrols against pirates and whatnot. In the hands of a compitent team of BHs, it could really put a dent in low to mid level gangs. I ALSO vote Gozanti for a BH platform that missed the cut.

    I think there is an excellent parallel between SW bounty hunting ship choices and the vehicles used during Prohibition by moonshiners and rum runners. Moonshiners used regular cars modified to carry cargo without attracting attention unless you opened the hood. Rum runners off the east coast were similar, using surplus Liberty aircraft engines from WW1 easily outrunning US Coast Guard vessels. There was a shipbuilder in Rhode Island that built the rum runner ships after hours that eventually was approached by the USCG to build ships to chase down the rum runners. Great video fleshing out the world of galactic Bounty Hunters.

    More of this kind of tech breakdown! This was awesome. Before this, I never would have considered something like a "bomber" as a bounty hunter craft. Hell, I now see the antiquated and slow TIE/sa Bomber as a potential craft to "frankenstein" into a hunting craft. Add a hyperdrive, upgrade the engines, and covert the bomb bay to a holding cell. They're cheap as used items, and likely have parts scattered everywhere. I can even see one of the "panel wings" being replaced by an entirely different configuration due to some sort of "part unavailability at the time". Ex-Trooper-turned-hunter sorta thing.

    One that'd make for a really good bounty hunter ship right out of the box is the Sentinel-class landing craft. It's like a Lambda-class but but bigger and more shielded. The downside is it lacks the Lamda's rear-facing laser cannon. The upside is that its forward firepower is quite good, with 8 laser cannons, 2 concussion missile launchers, and a retractable ion cannon turret. An ion cannon is always really nice for bounty hunting, because if your mark is fleeing in a ship you can disable it with no risk of vaporizing them in the process. And that big troop compartment gives you plenty of room to convert into both sleeping quarters for yourself and holding cells for your prisoners. The only downside is that to use it at full efficiency, you'll need at least one gunner for that ion cannon turret. So unless you've got a partner you can actually trust (a bit of a rarity in the bounty hunting business), you probably need to buy a droid for that role. (Or a pilot droid to fly the ship while you're operating the turret.)

All are very fast and maneuverable, with multiple hard points for more weapons. Stock models often comes with one defense turrent, but mainly their are ordered and sold customized by the customer. The crew ranging anywhere from 1 to 3 they can still be operated by one. The 2 or more cargo Bays can easily be converted to small holding cells, are Carbonite slab holders. Note: the YT-1760 speed and maneuverability is one of the best of the series yet the shields are weak, sacrificing small bit of cargo space for stronger Shields is best. Dropping from 10 Metric tons to 9.5 Metric tons.

    Honestly just about anything from CEC's light freighter catalogue would work with proper modifications. And the same ease of modification that makes CEC ships great for being turned into smuggling ships would make them great for being converted for bounty hunting too. Maybe more so since you don't need to worry about keeping a lot of cargo space on hand, giving you more space to put in bigger hardware for shields, weapons, etc.
    Exhibit A would be Bossk's Hound's Tooth, a modded CEC YV-666.
