- It is a well documented formula for smaller engines that an intake and exhaust will get you some of the highest power gains for the least amount of mechanical know how. Even so newer vehicles can be a little over-engineered for drivability standards. Also some of the name brand parts for newer vehicles can get pretty pricey as well.
Here's a list of all the parts and their prices:
Spectre 3" Air Intake arm $45
Spectre 3" diameter 6"long aluminum extension $12
Spectre 3" Performance air filter $25
Spectre Air breather filter $12
Spectre 3" Silicone coupler $12 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
1:28 actually you’re completely wrong about the pcv system, you actually want that hose on the valve cover because that is actually how the the engine sucks in cool fresh air to complete the pcv air flow, the blow by actually gets sucked in through the pcv valve into your engine to prevent positive pressure in the crank case and not through the hose.
yes it sound so good and also increases horse power..i love your talk..life is so short to drive boring cars without cold air intake...
Nice video dude, I have a 23 year old Daihatsu and it needs to go faster... But i've never worked on cars before but you're video gave me some confidence lol, informative and clear!
haydnr01 don't do what he did!! Repeat DO NOT DO WHAT HE DID!
@@mistaparker5878 why not
Thank you !!!! Just the video I was looking for that points down to the ground
3 day bender “ DIY cold air intake “
The Hangover part 7
Yay I’m the 1000th subscriber😁😁💯💯👌🏼👌🏼
thanks so much my dood!
Great video mate!
ok one thing i have is im thinking of doing a PCV delete with a breather filter but im not sure if thats a good thing to do for my Mustang of course.
I saw you got the same idea I have. Did you buy your intake stuff from Pep Boys?
I hope you got a tune with all of that!
don't you notice the extra valve noise?
Change title to: when hipsters modify their Hyundai, the saga
close your eyes and watch 11:50 - 12:22
ProMCdude you mean listen 😆 that was disturbing
I forgot what I was watching
Wtf 😂
Lmao!! Wasn't it daytime when he started??
How am I supposed to watch if my eyes are closed.
Great video >> thanks bro.
is that 17" or 18" wheels?
dude. i tried to watch videos and learn the correct way to install mine. i was never sure about the air box. i have more pipe snd connectors that my kit came with. should I get the filter positioned where the air box use to be (behind the bumper) or just leave it where it's at?
this is probably the best one I've seen.
Save your money and leave well enough alone. Your car already has A CAI and changing it the way you just watched will only ruin your performance.
For those who have a 5.7 Hemi hopefully in a Commander. Lol, what CIA are you running? I really want the Volant but they don't make it for the XK.. Yet they do for some 5.7 Hemi in other Jeeps
Great Video...i tell people all the time...it really makes a Difference..That Stock Restrictive shit Aint Cool and it Robs u of HP...
How is the car doing now i just did mine today and i can definitely tell the difference
It would be easier to use a breaker bar really to give you better leverage plus reducing the risk of hurting yourself and/or damaging your little wrench.
Daniel nah...just face the wrench on the other side. Pushing down vs pulling up like how he did.
All cars have some level of blow by, so that filter will get oily overtime even if your car is fine in most cases
Hey man great video I really love your personality and think you should make some more videos
You be savage, mad love.
What’s the tiny filter called?
You had me laughing at the end
Can you share the link to this?
I just bought a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with that system installed and fail the visual smoge check inspection in California. How should I do to fix and pass smoge.
Nestor Villalobos go back to stock nothing will pass besides stock in California
The hot PCV valve air is great in the winter for engine warm up! It is summer time you need to disconnect and attach filter!
The guy is WRONG about the "PCV air" -- the air actually flows FROM the cold air box TO the hot engine, where it is drawn into the intake manifold by the engine vacuum. He doesn't seem to know how the PCV system works -- not a CLUE !!
Chuck Hallowell nope look at any diagram to show air flow through engines, hot air escapes through the pcv
Get a rain cover for the filter they have them on amazon
tommy llamas and at autozone and other part stores
have this same one installed on my 03 mustang I didn't go with the extra filter just used caps from a pcv kit $3 to close both holes
Very nice
at any rpm if you have anything coming out of your PCV valve you have far more to worry about before trying to add anything to that motor.
I know this is old but what did you do for the MAF sensor?
Put it right between the throttle body and the intake itself. It should be Throttle body (engine) ---> MAF sensor ---> Intake coupler ---> Intake tubing etc...
Noticeable difference??
I didnt see him mention anything about placing the MAF sensor
I belong in the same mental derangement department...: The car fixer! Only a sublime sado-masoquistic love for the mechanics and improvements, will make us do all these abominations called 'performance enhancements'. Bravo! You made it! Next time, give yourself all the tools, time and required things around you, beginning with LIGHT! And thank you. Congratulations.
good tip is to drive your car withoutlug nuts on it increases performance by allot
Because weight reduction
Spin that wheel. Lol i remember that. I thought i was the only one.
Helps increase centrifugal forces and adds horsepower haha
You want to remove the air out of the crank case
A wrist watch from the "Flavor Flav collection" . When you have a smart phone???
if he wanted to keep the intake temp down he could wrap it with header wrap
You can buy a filter cover .. so it or you can’t drive in winter or rain
dont even need the fkn breaker bar jajajaa
Mechanic all my life... HATE when people over tighten shit, more harm then good
Ya that box was so big dude u put a pipe and filter and boom. I'm sure it does make it quicker but Im sure it like 5hp maybe
Subbed man, good vid
13:19 Sounds like a Harbor Freight 212cc.
Lol! He took all day!
Yes 8 hours
Id just do it for looks and a little sound, that's all you get from them. As far as horsepower without a tune you're looking at maybe 5 hp, ultimate rice mgee starter kit. Cut your exhaust up a bit and a cold air intake you'll be looking at 10-15 hp gain
look up aem air intake for veloster NAV, same setup as this car, they dyno tested and got 8 horsepower basically across the entire RPM range, with a resonator + muffler delete (~$100 at local mechanic shop) you are looking at easy 15whp gain for less then $350 total (if you bought the AEM intake) a tuned ecu will probably see another 10whp but we are also talking more money ($300-$600)
Cool, I saw a video where they said it does not work, but I really think they full of BS because when I did mines, not only did it sound pretty but there was a noticeable increase in power. ..
Measure your engine vacuum first at set RPM before modification! Need to use same outside air temperature also! Then measure engine vacuum after mod and see if you get increase in vacuum?
Why would you pull and risk you back. Opposite side and push use your body wait
nice video, man i live in Austin too and recently installed one of these bad boys on my jeep grand cherokee
Dont do this to your flippin jeep
Ha this video is neat
Hi Austin from Texas
I'm Austin from Illinois
Mate ,check out julian edgar made atwin throttle body Hyundai excel
Here's the misconception, it does not make the car go faster it just sounds good and you floor it to hear it roar. You fuel economy probably tanked too. I've done intakes in numerous naturally aspirated cars over the years and learned the hard way they just sound good. The car is engendered that way for a reason.
Andy Smith engineered
Engendered 😂
Andy Smith same fucking excuse. And motors don't need a tune. Their designed by professional s
exactly. after close study your efficiency actually drops unless you are constantly riding the 4k rpm range.
The Veloster is one of the few that actually gains from this mod, in all accounts. It's a poor design and if you look up Veloster air intake, you see the dynos charts to show it. The factory air box is a huge choke on the system, I've never had a car like this so it's a surprise to me too.
Should have waited for better light so we can actually see
He said you shouldn't make that a living. People pay stupid money to get it those install 😂.
darwin morocho very true haha
Chingadera LoL
with your level driveway.
dat boi
Next time take bumper off its easier to work with
is this songs lyrics rub your finger on mine? W.U.T. lol.
Nice sound! But it will not help you performance wise.0-60 times will 99% would be the same with or without the aftermarket airfilter.
well atleast it sounds cool
No , that’s false, especially if you upgrade the exhaust
did you say chingalera? it is Chingaderra. basically (fucking thing)
That’s a hot air intake my friend. . . Nothing cold about sucking air in from your engine bay
You couldve bought a decent intake system on ebay for a much better and cheaper
All day and night for a cold air intake? I hope you don’t change your own oil too...
8 hours later. Lol. Who cares though man. You actually did it to your car. Not look at my work I paid a shop to do for me. Plus you saved hundreds!!!
He forgot to put the O2 sensor back in the cai !! And didn't top up the blinker fluid !! SHIT !!
This dude took all day to put an intake on. Damn I put one on my si in half an hour
They are not 'cold air ' intakes. These new style mods actually suck the hot engine air NOT the cold air that was sent thru the factory air box. change of air flow and temp will wreak havoc on the computer unless you are smart enough to reprogram it.
"Life is to short to drive boring cars" Says the guy driving a Hyundai and thinking it's fast lol
What's wrong with having more fun out of your car?
The badge limits the potential of fun
Bro intakes don’t magically give u power it just sounds faster but good job though 😂
.... you didn't even take off your wheels right....
If you remove the resonator, it will result in decreased engine performance.
Doubtful
Intakes don’t make your car louder or that much faster😂 that’s just common sense, it’s just you thinking it’s faster because you want it to be after all that
Quicker Throttle response is MOSTLY what you get from A cold air intake. Power difference is minor but enough to notice on low end.
You also can hear an audible difference because the stock air intake systems are designed to muffle the sound of the air being sucked in. Cone filters, along with the new intake piping, are generally less restrictive allowing for more air flow. When tuned correctly for the more air coming in you can gain some hp but usually not a lot.
Puts air intake on Veloster that doesn't even have the turbo engine -__-
it actually vents your crankcase pressure....... learn before spreading lies to the people that don't know
Britton Kaman wat
Britton Kaman You act like you know the man's car he has done his research on his own car bruh
Britton kaman is right
Y'all are acting like he is the only one that knows his car
that Hyundai probably comes WITH track or sport mode. forcing colder air in faster is still going to run lean and your computer will begin enriching the mixture to cool your chambers and valves but in the end you are wasting fuel. your valve train and/or crankcase won't last another 30k. get a tune or it's a bust.
Ray Anthony you clearly need to learn about cars
5:56 I didn't know mechanicanating was a word thanks I'll add that to my ricer dictionary
Really bruh
Obviously he's an assassin and not a real mechanic.
Damnit, get to the point!!
if u get those lugs off with a 12in ratch prob a 3/8 too, then your nowhere close 150 lbs torque. dangerous
kas0016 not every cars lugs need to be torqued down to 150lb feet
80 ft lbs would be proper. 150 is way too much.
150 ftlbs of torque is crazy high! Most lug nuts fall between 60 - 80 ftlbs torque.
kas0016 dude 150 twice the torque spec. Over tightening can cause snapped bolts, warped rotors, yes I said warped rotors. I always follow factory torque specs and not ugaduggas 😂😂😂.
If you put 150 on those lugs that's dangerous, the risk of damaging the tread is very high
120 dollars id have set the thing on fire for less 🤣😆😆
If you don't want to put hot air in your throttle body why the hell don't you have a heat shield. When it rains you will be the one in the hack Hyundai on the side of the road with your filter that low! You would have been better off and get more HP by putting a drop in high flow filter in your stock air box. Plus you lost your OEM ram air. It might sound better but you lost significant power. Placebo effect is what your feeling. Loud doesn't mean fast dude! Not trying to be harsh but this was a hack job!
MistaParker hahahaha yeah I remember doing this with my grand am. took a whole day to realize that unless I'm *high revving* constantly, I'm losing power. and unless you get a tune or run higher octane you will toast the valves running that lean! or so I've read, but hey at least I'm cautious! ;)
I run with my filter 6 inches off the ground and have had no issues with puddles, rain, or snow
This is one of the few cases where an intake tube makes horsepower, just because the factory wanted it super quiet.
Life is too short to drive boring cars.
Listening to you explain how you think a car works and why you think putting that filter right there is smart is painful. I cant tell if you're being really sarcastic or serious. If you seriously think the PCV tube slows the car down, you're not even qualified to pump gas
Ok I stop watching when I seen him take the wheel off
this man dont know what is he doing...
I love "ricers"...
There's no performance buddy without a tune. 🤣
Mines better diy..
You are just buying some aftermarket and install it... No diy concept at all.. 👎
It's a Hyundai.....you've already wasted money.
Lol, you daydreamed about buying a Hyundai, an then severely shortening the life of the engine by shoddily "modding" it? You really should do some research before doing shit like this
Always buy American lol
Amen to that
