  • It is a well documented formula for smaller engines that an intake and exhaust will get you some of the highest power gains for the least amount of mechanical know how. Even so newer vehicles can be a little over-engineered for drivability standards. Also some of the name brand parts for newer vehicles can get pretty pricey as well.
    Here's a list of all the parts and their prices:
    Spectre 3" Air Intake arm $45
    Spectre 3" diameter 6"long aluminum extension $12
    Spectre 3" Performance air filter $25
    Spectre Air breather filter $12
    Spectre 3" Silicone coupler $12

    1:28 actually you’re completely wrong about the pcv system, you actually want that hose on the valve cover because that is actually how the the engine sucks in cool fresh air to complete the pcv air flow, the blow by actually gets sucked in through the pcv valve into your engine to prevent positive pressure in the crank case and not through the hose.

    Id just do it for looks and a little sound, that's all you get from them. As far as horsepower without a tune you're looking at maybe 5 hp, ultimate rice mgee starter kit. Cut your exhaust up a bit and a cold air intake you'll be looking at 10-15 hp gain

    • @TheUchihasparky
      @TheUchihasparky Před 2 lety

      look up aem air intake for veloster NAV, same setup as this car, they dyno tested and got 8 horsepower basically across the entire RPM range, with a resonator + muffler delete (~$100 at local mechanic shop) you are looking at easy 15whp gain for less then $350 total (if you bought the AEM intake) a tuned ecu will probably see another 10whp but we are also talking more money ($300-$600)

I've done intakes in numerous naturally aspirated cars over the years and learned the hard way they just sound good. The car is engendered that way for a reason.

    • @tevahbuchanan5303
      @tevahbuchanan5303 Před 3 lety

      You also can hear an audible difference because the stock air intake systems are designed to muffle the sound of the air being sucked in. Cone filters, along with the new intake piping, are generally less restrictive allowing for more air flow. When tuned correctly for the more air coming in you can gain some hp but usually not a lot.

When it rains you will be the one in the hack Hyundai on the side of the road with your filter that low! You would have been better off and get more HP by putting a drop in high flow filter in your stock air box. Plus you lost your OEM ram air. It might sound better but you lost significant power. Placebo effect is what your feeling. Loud doesn't mean fast dude! Not trying to be harsh but this was a hack job!
