I have a donor from my sons 2003 Tahoe 5.3L. He had installed a new MAF meter that has the air-diffuser in a housing. Now, I have not sent the PCM in for programming, but this brings me to my question. Are the two types inter-changeable with programming? I work as a dealer tech for 35+ years, so part broke, install same new part. I know how these work and I believe it would have to install an ambient air temp sensor for proper A/F ratio. Just planning ahead as my tuner guy is one state south, but hard to get a hold of him. Just not sure about swapping stuff when it comes to aftermarket parts...in the same vehicle used in the video. Just doing my research as battery will be under the bed, behind the cab. Thanks!
You mentioned an air breather. Why do you need an air breather, the second install you do not mentioned or install an air breather. Do you need one?

Where could I get that price that peice of the different angle of piping that you cut for your application
i like the black tubing way better. The shiny aluminum piping just isn't for me. I feel the black one comes out more realistic and cleaner.

Some one needs to explain how you get cold air when the filter is still in the engine compartment.
It's better when it's covered with an actual box with slits on the headlight side so it takes in the cold air being pushed through bumper area and underneath....just trying to get it furthest away from engine and main heat sources is most important thing
@@SWEATY-Braaapper666 I think what he’s saying is how is the temp different than a filter right on the throttle body? It’s only 2-3 feet away with the intake he built so how is the temp that much better? Still under the hood in the engine bay. Obviously a legit cold air intake would have benefits but I’m not sure the $400 for this kit is even worth it.
@@mitcheladamyk5121 it's not quite worth it I agree lol...I'm saying you definitely want a real cold air intake as far away from the motor as possible...I have a big turbo focus st and I'm not trying to chop up my engine bay/plastics so what I did was get a 3 and a half inch high flow injen tube wrapped with reflective heat tape from the turbo to the stock sealed air box with a Cobb high flow filter...and then I have a big mouth grille scoop thats routed directly in to the filter to bring in fresh outside air...it's not extremely far away from the engine bay but the grille scoop/snorkel that directs air directly to the air filter definitely gives it the best temps it can be without fabbing up a bunch of stuff...I plan on making a video of the car soon I've changed ALOT since my last short vid and I want to get out there and try to get some content/runs in...Im still stock fuel system and want to go 4 port auxiliary fuel but $ is tight all over and I'm saving up for it
I am trying to figure out the same thing. I have a GMC so my options for cold air are more limited, I am thinking of going into the cowl instead of the grill since I don’t have the real estate a Chevy has in the grill.
@@carguy3028the stock air box has a scoop into the fender. It pulls fresh air from outside of the engine bay. It is a cold air intake.
Aftermarket CAI without the box are actually pulling air from the engine bay completely rendering the cold air part as false. Lol
Just change the drop in filter and swap the resonator with a straight pipe.
