Alex MkvTurbo I was kinda curious how he's gonna register the lexus here in California. The 1jz isn't legal here because when you do engine swaps the engine has to retain all of its emissions systems, which the 1jz doesn't have because it was never available in the states, and the engine also has to be from a car that's the same model year or newer which his is not
boop the way I'd mentioned in my comment, I figured that would be a pretty smooth and mostly legal way to do it, but in California for the right price ANYTHING can pass smog if you know the right people. But that's in hopes that if he gets pulled over, they don't pop the hood, and if they do pop the hood, hopefully they don't know what they're looking at.

That cold (hot) air intake has terrible placement. It's basically a short ram. You don't get much of a performance increase from cold air intake if the stock intake is designed pretty well. Most new cars use a closed box design to keep hot air out.

Yes, the stock air box in most "performance" or "sporty" cars is actually the best option, but in many cases, if you keep the stock airbox and replace the intake piping going from the air box to the intake manifold, you can see a slight increase in performance.

You would think that with all the trouble you've had with the car/turbos you'd want to protect them. That $25 filter is prone to structural failure and might end up getting sucked in and chewed up.
Don Pablo lol it wont fail they are pretty good filters. Ive had one for 2 years hasnt failed even on 16 psi.

my car went from 481hp 536tq to 508hp 563tq just by changing the intake! and my car already had a decent intake on it. supercharged cars are extremely picky when it comes to intake systems. I also changed an intake on another car went from 3-1/2inch to 4-1/2inch intake pipe on a supercharged LS car and it picked up 110hp! superchargers hate restriction! intakes do work! i've also seen a turbo car pick up 100hp just by removing the filter, all of these were done same day back to back. the only time you won't see a gain from changing intakes is if you already have a good intake system on your car!

Evan! extend that intake pipe towards your headlights. Trust me when I did my swap it was heatsoaking so badly unless you're planning to drive your car without the hood

You were trying to install the new quick release backwards.
You screw the steering wheel on the threaded side. And the non-threaded side mates against the hub, since the hub is threaded.
The only way a new intake makes a difference for cars is if the air intake happens to be a bottleneck. Some cars benefit more than others and it all depends if the engine needs more airflow! If it does then upgrading the intake line should help make gains!

Any extra SC parts you need i highly reccomend talking to a guy named Carlos Santos. Dude usually has anything you need. I dont think he does 1JZ'z though but he has other hardware, interior, exterior, engine bay, drivetrain, literally anything. He's located in Texas too

CAI or SRI intakes do their job, you get what you pay for. Their expensive for a reason, aftermarket parts won't do their jobs unless you dyno tune them for your cars ECU. Cheap exhaust & cheap air filters or intakes will last and perform as much as you paid for it.

Well, cold air intakes are not a valid upgrade to a stock car, but if it is already modified and you have a pod filter, a cold air intake can help.

Well StreetSpeed717 proved that a CAI does in fact gain you HP over a stock intake tube. Just saying.
Dud you shouldnt buy an airfilter with that small plug in the middle. I had one and that shit broke off and flew into the tube to the turbo, luckily not into the turbo. So please buy an big cap filter.

Be careful with the cheap filters, I saw a video of this guy with a cheap filter and a piece on the intake went into his piping, into the manifold, and into the crank case and bent valves and shit. Watch out boys
