I honestly thought Gus had 3 rounds over JJ, but I re-watched the fight 3 days ago and... I don't know, it was definitely a close fight with rounds that could go either way, but as a whole, JJ had the biggest moments in the fight, and I feel like JBJ had it, woulnd't be hard to give him 3 rounds at all. It was frustrating to watch from Gus's side though, because there were a lot of exchanges where I really believe he could've pressed Jon, but he would connect with 2-3 punches and let jon go and reset completely.
I think Jon has probably evolved more, he's a tremendous mind in the cage as well and Gus hasn't been that active... If I had to guess, I'd say Jon developed more tools in the meantime than Gus did. Now, if Gus can press Jon a bit more and exploit his defense, and if he maintained that chin, I woulnd't be surprised. But he really can't give Jon any space. Jon landed way too many flush high kicks in this fight that I had remembered.

The brilliance of Jon Jones is how dynamic he is. It’s incredible to see such a long fighter (who utilizes that range perfectly) also be able to fight in close with the best of them. Normally fighters with extremely long arms have trouble trading shots in that dirty boxing range, but Jon throws elbows like a normal fighter throws punches. So you have a fighter who is insane at range, in close, in the clinch, with absolute top notch mma wrestling and takedown defense. He’s so well rounded it’s crazy. On top of that he has a great chin and will not tap to anything. I think we can all agree that D.C is amazing, one of the best fighters to ever do it. And look what Jon did to him. Just shows how incredible he is. All controversy aside. I really, really admire his work in the octagon and I think he is deserving of the GOAT status. Hate him or love him he is damn good at what he does. I’m sure I will receive a lot of hate for this comment because he’s a pretty polarizing figure but I really do think that his fighting skills (notice I did not say his life choices) deserve praise. I’m a huge DC fan but respect where it’s due.

First time I watched the fight, I thought Jones surely had lost. The commentary, the bad quality of the streaming website I used on top of the fact that I had never seen Jones in such an even match is what led me to believe he lost. However, after watching the fight again, I realized that Jones easily won rounds 4 and 5. He also could have won round 1 as well as round 3 which were toss-ups. It was close but he won it just barely.

people telling me Izzy would whoop Jones need to resort to these types of breakdowns. Jones' IQ in unparalleled and just understands the fight game and is able to adapt plus he has way more tool to beat Izzy than the other way around.

Imo Jones won the first fight (rd 2,4,5) but I think Gus will take the rematch. Jon has been out for longer than Gus and I think 2018 has been a great year for upsets. Gustafsson by 3rd round tko, I've got a feeling
