this is the most exciting thing happened to photography in 10 years
Can't wait for the full review.
Man, this camera is insane.
100mp and IBIS.
Eye AF.
Jesus.
Jesus is inculded as well? :)
@@alexandriaoccasional-corte1346 bahahahahahaaah!
@SwitchRich Sorted it out from what, lmao.
"We are in Tokyo" and instead of a nice view of the city, an old curtain! Yeah! Right! I'm in Tokyo too!😉😛
Im in Tokyo. I dont have curtains. 😂
It’s weird to see such a huge Fuji... but I like.
yes.... love it."But I like"
absolutely game changing camera.
While everyone was jumping into the full frame space finally - Fuji was working diligently on processing and features. They are literally going to be the only thing on the market at this level of versatility.
They just showed up with a 50cal Gatling gun to a gun fight.
This would be a game changing camera if it had a bigger sensor...
With a small sensor packed with megapixels, it's just a step in evolution...
@@reludennis it's not twice the size. It's bigger, yes, but not by that much. I shoot medium and large format all my life and this size is still too small to make me excited about it. Phase One is still the only one that has a relatively modern sensor that's actually the size of a 645 format film frame. The downside is the cosmic price...
If Fuji did a 645 size sensor in a mirror less camera, I'd sell a kidney to buy it ASAP.
@juna wood I don't mind the weight. The setup I used most my photography life weighs 3.5kg and I used to carry it for hours daily. But I'm a niche portrait photographer with niche needs and expectations :D
Miguel Simoes I’m struggling to imagine who would use this camera. One of the biggest complaints from clients is file size. Even JPEGs out of this camera would be huge. It has few or none of the advantages of medium format (speaking as one who still shoots medium format film) and not enough advantages over something like a 5D MkIII to warrant the substantial extra cost.
No game changer here.
KNUR Konesur If a sensor 70% bigger (170% of the full frame sensor size) is „not that much bigger“, idk what is ... for someone shooting film and manual, it may not be the biggest excitement, but we‘re talking about a digital sensor and for digital mirrorless photography, it is a huge step. Not just the sensor size and resolution... the auto focus capabilities (100% phase detect coverage, with face & eye detection), IBIS (the first in any medium format camera), 4k video with full sensor readout and the new processor that has already proved itself in the X-T3. Sure your medium and large format film may exceed in image quality with the right lenses and scanning process, but a digital camera with auto focus and video is a completely different area. And with this new camera Fujifilm just made a huge statement.
100mp sensor, Phase Detection, IBIS and........ It’s 37,000 dollars less than an H6D-400c.
A smaller sensor in the Fuji though, isn't it? Lot's of MP but less actual size. I may be wrong.
@@On_The_Piss I think so, however you'd never tell the difference, especially with the 100mp sensor.
TheKiwiJobes I think you certainly would notice a difference in noise at high ISO’s etc because of the smaller sensor size and more megapixels crammed into it.
For sale: fully functioning left kidney, not faulty, price negotiable
Oof my hard drive cries as hard as my bank account... But my heart still desires it.
wait 5 years, the used price might fall to 50% off
@@Terry2020 no. Even the current gfx only dropped by $1k but I hope you are correct
hasselblad have had 100mp/400mp files for the last 2 years...
Lmk when the Hasselblad does uncropped 4k and offers IBIS.
Seems like overkill for about 95% of photographers...not just in cost but also in size and weight, including the lenses.
I want a camera I can carry around comfortably in a hike! #MicroFourThirds
Woow, can't wait to see the raw files of this monster!
You shoot raw dawg?
Cant wait for your full review guys!
Just wait 6 months, Fuji brings an update that you can film with this badboy 4K 60fps and 120fps
keep dreaming. the sensor readout speed won't allow that, at least not from the full width of the sensor.
I don't think so on a medium format
the use of dual OLED screen, and toggle between histogram and shutter etc is very smart design! love it!
i really hope fujifilm gets more sales in the era of camera contraction.
I'm gonna get this and shoot Instagram with it 😂😂
That will be overkill 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
what are you going to do with the other 101 mp? :)
Like those people who buy Land Cruisers for the school run
I would love to see 100 megapixels cropped to 1:1.
LOL your wife said almost exactly the same thing about the vertical grip, Jordan. Marriage harmony!
can't wait review this camera fuji gfx100
i am very curious about what this camera can do, but part of me also feels like buying a DJI Osmo Action now... I am messed-up...
Did you guys raid the same wardrobe? You have matching shirts!
Pretty good looking camera... I’m glad it’s $10K or I’d be pretty tempted by it.
Hahaha
Questions:
- Will they take your USB C functionality suggestions? Especially shooting/ recording direct to SSD (while also writing to the SD cards for redundancy?)
- What is the tethering and WiFi file transfer performance like?
- What is the expected latency from the HDMI out?
- Will Fuji also consider a multi shot mode similar to the A7RIII (same 100mp resolution but better colour sampling) alongside a 400mp composite mode
- Are there RGB parades and waveforms available for monitoring exposure? If not at launch, will Fuji consider adding this later?
- Are there options to save lower res small or medium raw files? And modes to save a full res raw, alongside a lower res 8 bit jpeg?
- What’s the buffer and FPS shooting 16 bit raw?
Thanks!
I am going to wait a bit for the 500mp version. I am building a supercomputer that should be ready by then.
Nice shirt guys. :) The camera misses out not having the classic dials IMHO. They work wonderfully on the XT2 ect.
The reason for that is to make it more weather sealed
when you test the camera, will you include the birds-in-fly kind of shots? I am wondering how fast it can focus and track. Thanks!
Hope to see your review soon :D
Depending on the autofocus performance this may very well find it's way to events, concerts and weddings.
Something usually reserved for full-frame and Apsc based solutions.
Not sure on the move from analog to a more digital layout.
But this(like the D850) will surely be easier to read in the dark.
It would be great if they include 4k 60p option in crop mode (full frame/35mm or super 35/aps-c) in the final version ..right now they are using full sensor readout and down-scaling from 11K
Full sensor 4K is probably the most exciting video feature on that camera. Such a high resolution medium format camera is obviously for commercial photography work and prints overall. A videographer wouldn‘t buy something like that. But the medium format look in video mode is what makes video on that camera so exciting, so I hope they‘ll keep all the video modes with full sensor readout and include crop modes only as options. That full medium format sensor read out might be a killer feature, I‘m really excited for tests and opinions from videographers.
@@Fabio-rg9nv Yes obviously.. that's what i am excited for but what i mean is add the crop mode option only for 4k 60p without removing full sensor 4k 30p option.. right now the reason for 30p limitation is because of the processing required to process and down-scaling the 100mp data .. in crop mode it will be much less pixels and data to process so that it might be possible to capture 60p video .. if that option is available, it would be great in an event where 60p is required without changing the camera or setup.. I am so glad they decided to choose full sensor readout fo 4k upto 30p.. because such large sensor means better low light capability and 11k to 4k down-scaling means much lower noise as well :)
Harikrishnan K M Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Great thoughts.
I swear to the skies above if I could afford one, I'd be out on one leg to the nearest store right away!
Can we all just give Fuji a collective mega thumbs up for this beast of a camera? We knew a lot about it already, but, i didn't expect the ibis to be THAT good, I didn't expect the AF to be that good, 100% pdaf coverage and face+eye detect and 10 bit 422 without a crop!! WOW.
@Phil Jones65 for professionals this is a must have...landscape portraits some action even...the detail and color and shadow is not matched by any other camera...never mind a full frame camera. $10k is pocket change for pros. Nowadays a lot of people have full frame cameras and only shoot jpegs in auto mode.
And you can tape some foam on the grip or gaffer tape or use gloves when shooting landscapes in the winter outside anyway...
Can't wait to see the sample images on dpreview!
This is pretty crazy....is it like a medium format “carry around” camera that can sorta be used like a medium format GH5 for video too??
Tried and used it on Hasselblad CF lenses.
Glad that I am done with Hasselblad's contacts.
Three Fuji GFX 100 cameras & lenses are coming.
World's first APS IBIS mfmc (mirorless frame medium camera) with phase AF.
How many stops of dynamic range can this sensor record?
Is it competing with digital backs for recording details in shadows and highlights?
thx guys!
Looking forward
Is there a remote shutter release slot? I haven't seen anyone mention it anywhere. Would be great if there was a simple bluetooth remote like the new one for Sony.
Damn this is a beast, a proper one
Yes
this and an XT3 sounds like a dream combo for pro and travel work.
Sani Wada Nope, this is for cashed up amateurs.
@@thethirdman225 because cahsed up amatures want to lug around a camera as heavy as this?
Sani Wada apparently
TheThirdMan let me guess phony fan boy
Thomas James Former pro who can’t see any application for it. I’m not saying it’s bad. In fact, I have long experience of using Fuji stuff professionally and I’m a fan of it. I just can’t imagine a reason why a pro would use this.
Is that a DR test of the XT3? I cant see you guys infront of this background...
Can it shoot 4:3 video for use with anamorphic 2x scopes?
How about the manual focus assist?
With the Fuji demo, the eye AF does not seem to focus on the near eye as the model moves side to side.
Would love thoughts: New GFX 100 or used Phase One?
amazing camera!
please ask them about T/S lenses for Fuji
Rolling shutter? what's it like for shooting moving objects
I make a 12 volt car battery adapter for this camera. It attaches at the positive and negative poles with jumper cables and has a free 2 wheel cart with a camera mount. Spare parts can be had at Harbor Freight.
Can it drop down to ff or aps-c and shoot faster?
For sure ?? it also very lens dependent ??.
Thanks for the review. Can you address IMAGE QUALITY?
For us the whole point of 100MP is just that. Any comparisons to Phase One IQ3 (not to mention IQ4)? [particularly given Fuji's crop sensor 43.8x32.9mm vs IQ3 53.7x40.40mm]
Are there visible differences 16bit vs 14bit?
Any ISO comparisons?
Any details on the "multi" function - does it allow Focus Stacking, which is a CRUCIAL feature for hires architecture, landscape, and even product work?
Also, things like WiFi (or Bluetooth) remote shutter triggering/intervalometer for sharp photos?
FOCUS: what is max magnification factor to zoom in? Focus peaking accuracy? Does it have a hyperfocal distance calculator, or at least tell you current focus distance? Does it have DOF preview for critical focus? Are any/all of these features available on Phone/Tablet wireless or laptop tethered shooting?
Ability to save custom shooting mode settings (quick change from tripod aperture to hand held shutter priorities, etc.)?
thanks!
Yeah boy
Welcome to Japan! 🤝
I'm interested to know how the dynamic range of this beast performs with respect to landscape photography. Could be one hell of a camera for making large landscape prints.
Great to see IBIS on a medium format camera. Also love the design of the LCD. Love that we are now over 100 MP. Exciting. $10,000-I'll be waiting.
Interesting video about an amazing camera. A bit out of my price range. But I look forward to the full-review / field-test.
I am glad to see Fuji finally brought out a camera with IBIS.
3:17 Which will make it quicker and easier to change shutter speed since you don’t have to reach up and over to change it. I have owned several Fuji cameras and still prefer the dslr style controls. Faster.
He said "100 megapixels" and my crappy laptop started to sweat profusely
how long of a video clip can you shoot
That looks like an exciting camera for people in that market. It will be interesting to see autofocus performance, video quality, and general promptness of use. If those features are solid, it looks like a game changer for medium format to finally be on the functional level of a 35mm DSLR/mirrorless. 9 years since the 645D that changed the MF gear landscape, and now we have this beast at the same starter price!
especially cant wait to see the video quality that fuji gets from this
Will canon prime lenses for eg canon 200mm f2.0 L support this 100mp resolution!
One of the most slick cameras in a while.
Please test it with adapted lenses from other brands if possible. Additionally a video comparison to the XT-3 would be interesting using similar fields of view.
Fuji is killing it!
Guys, while you are visiting FujiFilm, can you please ask them if they have any plans to release a monochrome sensor camera? Like an X-H1m
Just select Acros simulation in your current Fuji xh1 and play with the filters...or shoot raw and select later what colors if any...you want
how big are the raw files?
This camera will be epic.
Free trip to Japan. Sweet!😊
Can you focus stack on this camera. Can I finally sell my phase?
Well, can i say that it is the best looking camera, i love the built!
So, with 100 MP, what if you cropped in to, say, a 4/3 or APS-C portion of the sensor for telephoto? How many megapixels would that be?
We cover this in our full preview, going live tomorrow!
Love it! But the design kinda reminds me of the Hasselblad X1D
Even though this is not a camera for me, I'm still fascinated by how far FujifFilm have gone with this and I'm really looking forward learning more about it. Just off now to get me some popcorn and a Coke! :D
For the same amount of money I could do something useful and buy 4 Peak Design tripods!
hahaha. Zinger! Those tripods are loco
It is not our fault that you are poor.
AWESOME...FUJI...MUST...OWN....
Baaaaaahaaaaa......Great vid guys...As always, keep up the good work and keep em flying..
Beast of a camera. But i wish they added the dials and the Dpad.
"The Audio......Looks....Quite Good." - Jordan Drake Is My Hero
Well, not said, this camera is far smaller and lighter than any other medium format with similar capabilities, the video seems to be using the full frame, not cropped, not sure if its downsampling from the 100mpx or bining.
Time to up my Instagram game.
Or time to stop camera hopping ? And stay loyal to Fuji.
What a good looking camera.
Lenses guys?
Its stupid big.. I need it.
Same size actually as Nikon D5
Pentax 645z has ibs no?
My new dream camera. Absolutely perfect. Wish it shot 8fps though. And wish there was a native lens that was faster than 2.8.
native lens on large format f2.8 is stupid fast. You'll get much better DOF then the full frame equivalent and much better low light. I wouldn't worry so much about it.
Great camera... I've always hoped that Ricoh can produce some 645 with IBIS. But Fuji is now far ahead.
Hey Chris hey Jordan. Test this beast from the top of the Calgary Tower. For a pro this Fuji is crazy nice. A medium format street shooter for photojournalists where you could crop to zoom, shoot fashion and runways, studio, macro and landscapes. Nothing new if you're from the film world, but recall those darkroom days slaving over a hot enlarger for one big print. Thanks Fuji.
I am waiting for the day when full medium format cameras (not the cropped sensor this Fujifilm has) become the standard for pro photographers like the 35mm full frame nowadays, being accessible to more people with small budget like me. With that said, I'm quite satisfied with my Canon 5D Mark 4, especially when coupling it to a wide aperture prime lens like Canon's 1.2 aperture lens.
The Fujifilm is important to me not because of it's unique larger sensor than the one in my D5 Mk4, but because cameras like this will streamline the medium format with their lower prices, making it finally accessible to more photographers who will put it to good use.
That's why competition in any business is important for customers, because it pushes companies and manufacturers to innovate and cut prices to earn customers and grow up.
Fuji lust! Can’t afford one, though...surprised that Fuji couldn’t get you a film lighting crew...love those virtual dials!!!
OK everyone, who is with me to robbed some rich bad guys? I need this camera so the plan is that I have a getaway car, a helicopter, and a safe house. LOL
My next camera
You two heard about the EVF tilt adapter or you drink a lot of sake?
Flip Out Screen?
Still waiting for the 50r full review...
i'll be buying this and use the photos on Facebook...
Fujifilm I've been saying since XH-1 release bring next camera release with Full HDMI port. Panasonic learnt don't use micro HDMI they friggan break. GH4 a perfect example.
Yah sure! Give it HiRes Mode! 16-bit 400MP files for studio work. "I'll buy that for a dollar!" ;-)
I shoot exclusively with the GFX 50s, and I don't see any difference between that experience and shooting with the A7R back in 2014. You can take it anywhere you'd take the X100S. Get into GFX because the future is going to be amazing!
show us some editing sequences with those 100mp shots on a nice pc :).
So this should be the best known landscape and cityscape camera known to man currently then with what it can produce megapixel wise??
Resolution+performance wise. Absolutely.
Also best portrait and even some slower moving action or sports...
UGG-LYYY! OMG was it designed by civil engineers? Looks like ergonomics of a hand held bridge. Having that much volume and real estate it should have been sculpted so it feels balanced and secure no matter which way it's gripped. Fantastic piece of tech though.
Exactly. Can’t believe people are liking the design..
They say it is very well balanced.....ergonomics are more about touch than looks..so hard to judge only by seeing it...
rdennis did you see the body? And what’s up with that vertical grip? It still looks like the prototype model, unfinished..
@@henrym78 only seen the camera at the "3 blind men and an elephant's "channel and Fuji chanel.
I would put gaffer tape or foam on the grip if it is not comfy.or just used gloves if outside in the winter...I do not care how my camera looks only my photos and film.
Couldn't agree more. Ugliest camera Fuji have made since they started this whole "resurgence" back in 2010.
How long until we get a leaf shutter lens or five? Also, no joy stick. Bummer. It is obvious the minimalist design and the functionality of the top screen are Fuji's reaction to Phase One's FX camera's design.
Craig Houdeshell THIS. If you’re going to build a camera like this, leaf shutters become an issue. Personally, I think it’s a dud but a leaf shutter would at least provide some justification for it. Otherwise it’s just an overblown 5D.
