Not too long ago, Nintendo released Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire...games I initially wrote off as shameless HD rereleases. BUT! While the bulk of the story may be the same, there's a bit of post-game content that ROCKS the foundation of the Pokemon world and changes everything we THOUGHT we knew about the franchise!

This whole alt universe thing would be the best explanation as to why Team Aqua was evil in one game and why Team Magma would be evil in another. They are similar world and yet not the same.
Actually, the two teams are evil. What is different between versions is who will get the Red/Blue Orb first to awake Groudon/Kyogre.

So, Archie wanted to do the things that he successfully made in Alpha Sapphire. But in Omega Ruby, despite Archie efforts, Maxie is victorious, and vice-versa.

Wait, so, does that means that when you trade a pokemon that evolves from trades (eg. Machamp). They're actually mutated from traveling between dimensions?
Trade evolutions happen through in-game trades as well, so that's unlikely.
Maybe the ID of a trainer is the number of the pocket dimension his Pokemon go to when he gets them in a pokeball.
If that's true, the dimension inside the pokeball suddently changes. So that's the explanation of why in-game traded Pokemon evolve by dimensional mutation. It seems possible, am i right?

you just made me realise, when a graveler evolves he suddenly only has 2 arms, and machoke gets 2 arms more. This does mean that they get mutated by dimension traveling
Mozes Muller There's actually a theory that something akin to the Gen V snail and beetle Pokemon was intended to be used straight in Gen I; it goes tthat Graveler and Machoke were supposed to evolve when traded with each other, as they end up "trading" a pair of limbs - fitting for trade evolutions.

Ultra Sun and Moon confirmed this. Also, when you transfer a Pokemon from ORAS/Virtual Console Gen 1 games, the summary says they seemed to have travelled through time and space.

Maybe the radiation persists in that timeline throughout your adventure, causing your new pokémon to re-mutate into a pokémon that CAN mega evolve. That still doesn't explain the way back though, if a mega-evolvable pokémon is sent to a dimension where mega-evolving isn't a thing, surely, it wouldn't just LOSE that ability, right?

Dragon Queen So the Pokémon never really loses the ability to mega-evolve, the new trainer just may not have it avaiable for it's pokémon.
+Cowfaic'd Realm I have a separate theory that will blow your mind!!! This is an alternate counterpart to the theory. First, their are no separate dimensions...except the regular dimension and shiny dimension and shiny giratinas dimension and giratinas dimension. For right now i'll tell you how this works. It's Arceus restarting the universe. Yeah, so Arceus restarts the universe every time almost every time a remake comes out.The exceptions to this are Black 2 and White 2. So the thing is about the machine makes space holes is that, the machine doesn't make space holes it makes space/time holes. Confusing, right? Well let me put it this way, they are going to send an asteroid back in time and accidentally destroy the world. Oh, and I have an explanation for Mega Evolution too. Megas were not discovered until Diancie was found 'cause Diancie makes mega stones. The only people who know how this works before it was publicly announced in X and Y are Mr. Fuji, Red, Oak and that girl with Mr. Fuji you see near the end of ORIGINS. Link cables work the same way but with time and space. And that is pretty much it.

What he is saying is everyone's copy of every Pokemon game is, by the theory in the video, a separate universe within the Pokemon multiverse. In deleting a save file, you are "erasing" that universe and starting a "new" one.

This theory would also explain why it appears none of the characters ever age.
Every time Ash and his friends explore a new region, they are actually all being explored at the same time by several Ash's on different planets/dimensions.
Even if this may not explain how Ash retains memories of his previous journeys, it’s still entirely possible.

Most don't pay attention but when you talk to the opposite leader of your game in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire They say "Hmm perhaps there Is another dimension where I would have been the one to awaken Kyogre/Groudon and you would face me."

There's a dimension where you lost that nuzlocke challenge because a zubat used supersonic, and every single one of your pokemon slowly killed itself in confusion, all while the zubat taunted you by critically hitting you with leech life.

I've been held captive by the recent pokemon craze and I just wanted retread the glory that is MattPatt's glorious pokemon videos.
I feel that I must point out though, that they're most likely not called pocket monsters because they use pocket dimensions in their pokemon capturing tech, but according to Pokemon Legends, they're called pocket monsters because they have the ability to change their size naturally, a property pokeballs takes advantage of rather than something inherent in the schematics of the technological device itself.
Cell: “Is this Duel Monsters?! Because it feels like Duel Monsters!”
Ash: “No, these are Pocket Monsters”
Cell: “Are they in your pocket?”
Ash: “No. They’re on my belt. In Pokéballs.”

Ironicly, I thought that if they did use the Link Cable to warp the Meteorite, That same one would go to the spinoff Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue team world, where the world was threaten by Natural Disasters because of a Meteorite on a course for the planet, large enough to destroy all the Pokemon there.
What if because of your actions of using the Cable. The Pokeones above weren't pleased with your choice, and when you sleep and wake up, they turned you into a Pokemon in that world to make up for your wrong choice?

Well, the meteor thing is... Actually pretty believable, but the part about being turned into a Pokemon for a wrong choice is able to be disproved simply by playing the game. Gardevoir says in-game that the reason you were turned into a Pokemon was because you fit the qualifications of being a hero and saving their world.
Glad I wasn't the Only one who thought about this while playing ORAS. Mystery Dungeons are my Favorite.

He's cursed to be reborn as a Pokemon as punishment, but I don't think (or recall) that this exact punishment was ever stated... perhaps his punishment was to watch a world be destroyed knowing that he was responsible?

I guess in the universe where Champion Steven's Skitty died, it became a Linkite. That's a Pokemon exclusive to the beta Pokemon game, Pokemon Uranium, and it's basically the spirit of a Pokemon that died inside its PokeBall.

What's funny is that your theory has been completely proven true with the new Ultra Moon and Sun games. xD
SPOILERS
Ultra Wormholes connect different realities and through them some new pokemon, (and in the Ultra versions a different species of humanity) come through. And through the Ultra Wormholes, your game connects with ALL different editions (Ruby, Sapphire, Black, etc). From there, Giovanni comes through wanting to rule over all dimensions. He teams up with the villains from every game, villains who have all won in their respective realities. For example, the villain from Sapphire created a world of only sea, Ruby's created a world of only earth, etc. The HERO, you, was never born in those dimensions and thus they all won.
So, yeah: you're completely right. :D
Or, you know, someone never finished their game making it possible? :3
To add to this there are Pokemon that dimension hop anyway... Giratina in the reverse world. Dialga and palkia in their dimensions as well as arceus himself.

This explains everything I even thought about this in that delta episode the first thing I thought was wait alternate dimension could it be Ash's world and now we know the games are different to but let's go deeper Hoopa remember him well no one ever seems to want to explain how he summons up legendaries then beats them to a pulp and then he just sends them back and they never come looking for payback or how when he summoned Reshiram and Zekrom they didn't go ham on each other well that's because there from different dimensions so there not able to go looking for him Hoopa could be very rare even through the multiple worlds also maybe from the world that Zekrom and Reshiram came from they where never the same Pokemon or they fought and the brothers died or the brothers fought but they didn't and it gets better because this also explains why in the show Kyrem can switch between black and white form at will but in the game he can't also this explains why battling is different from the

I can definitely get behind this theory because it explains why Gary, Blue, Ash, and Red are 4 completely different people even though they both play the same roles in-game and in the anime. It could also explain how Red and Blue practically love each other now even though they hated each others guts in the original. Or that's just them growing up? Idk anyway its a good theory

The fact that Looker is in a lot of games is something to be considered. He is definitely the same person in all of the games.
Okay, I recently found out that Anabel, who is now in Sun and Moon, came directly from the universe that Pokemon Emerald is in. Hmm... I guess you're right.
On top of all of that, in the post-game of SuMo, Looker and another character talk about rifts in space/time that people can fall through. They're called fallers, and this proves the multi-verse theory even moreso than before.
+ThatRandom Tank M.D Not really. The Ultra Wormholes lead to Ultra Space which is separate from the world the games take place in but they don't allow travel between multiple timelines.
Flain Fan you're forgetting the post game cosmog to get cosmog you have to go back through an ultra wormhole and it takes you to the other version of the game
Hopefully this will be mentioned more in the gen 4 remakes because of dialga and palkia being the rulers of time and space
You know the theory really is more on the true side when ultra sun and moon came out, with all the villains coming from different dimensions and timelines during the rainbow rocket events, it really all does make sense in a way that each game reallynis its own dimension with slightly different outcomes or plot points

I just finished the Pokémon Sun Looker Postgame, and I'm happy to say that it took a little under two years, this theory is 100% CONFIRMED!!! WOOHOO MATPAT YOU DID IT MY GUY!!!
Evidence in Sun? The small novel of dialogue between Looker and Nanu about Anabel near the end of the postgame. Looker says that a decade before the events of the game, Looker and Nanu found a girl on a beach. She had been doused in energy from an Ultra Wormhole, which suggests that she was from another world. When she awoke, she could only tell them four things:
Her name was Anabel
She was from the Hoenn region
She "protected some kind of tower there" (verbatim from Looker)
She was a powerful Trainer.
This isn't a coincidence; Anabel first appeared as one of the Frontier Brains in Emerald. In the Battle Tower, which doesn't exist in ORAS. Let's recap: Anabel, a trainer from Hoenn in Emerald, a Frontier Brain at the Battle Tower, which doesn't exist in ORAS, washed up on a beach as an almost-amnesiac from an Ultra Wormhole, (which lead to other worlds) from the universe without megas to the one with them. Boom. Theory confirmed.
And if by some lack of cognitive function you STILL don't believe this, take your mascot legendary to the Altar of the Sunne in Sun or Altar of the Moone in Moon and you'll find a rift in reality. Go up to it. Hit A. What text box come up? Does it say "Solgaleo/Lunala can transport you twelve hours ahead. Will let let it?" No. The dialogue you get says "Through the distortion, you see what appears to be another world. Will you go though?" Hit yes. You'll be transported to the other game's world. Or shall I say universe?

Think about it further. You can take a pokemon from one version of Ruby and Sapphire where the death machine didn't go off, to another version of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire where the death machine did go off.
Only once, you went from 1 dimension to the other when crossing from Black 2 to X, but the rest of the time you were transferring them through different parrarel universes.
This makes my Amphoros and my Typhlosion Time Lords comming from Heartgold all the way to Alpha Sapphire (skipping Black 1)

Actually, this theory is technically correct. For example: *spoilers* If you beat Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS, there is an "afterstory" about Zillia (I think her name is) where she destroys a device to save Hoenn from the meteor that's about to hit. She mentions about a wormhole device about another version of Hoenn but a Hoenn without the Mega Evolution (Sapphire GBA) and without the Great Pokemon War 3,000 years ago (Pokemon X and Y) So yeah MatPat nailed it...

Im pretty sure that every copy being a unique thing was actually a thing that was discussed among the devs at some point, at least I have a vague memory of hearing how this idea is actually quite old in the history of Pokemon.

This theory is definitely correct. In Pokèmon Sun and Moon, you can use a worm hole to travel to another dimension. If you have Sun, you travel to the world of Pokėmon Moon, and for Moon you go to Sun!
Not quite. The Pokemon exclusive to the other game still can't be caught if you pass through the wormhole. I suppose that's because it would negate the need to trade with people. It still puts your theory into question though especially since the wormhole changes the in game time with respect to real world time so the two worlds are effectively the same without the real world to compare it to.
There is only one problem with that. Zangoose and Seviper. If this theory was to 100% correct only one of these would exist in their given dimension. But their pokedex entries mention in every game that they have a feud against each other that can be observed in wildlife.
So either Zangoose and Seviper are very big excaptions from this theory or the theory (or at least that part of it) isnt quite right.

Mew had to be entered into the "universe" from special versions where mew was filling every PC. Also just for the come at me haters thing... You're clearly nothing but a Sinnoh fan boy who wanted to artificially insert gen 4 into this video despite the theory being based on mega evolutions and more specifically gen 3. You also used evidence from a completely different canon, so it's basically invalid. Also everyone else in this comment line brought up a genuine response to the OP's comment while you mentioned your own idea which could be it's own thread. Also Adam Carlson his theory is the implied lore while it could be a universe of Sun where the time of day is differnet, everything is closed, and Cosmog goes undiscovered. And for Maank, trainers in each game have the opposing exclusive so in theory they could display hostile natures towards each other after being bred or in the daycare. That way even if "wild" is specified it could be a released Seviper/Zangoose that originally existed in universe through an NPC trainer, and the dex could be updated in universe (Not an IRL update like how entries change go to game but a canon edit before the game starts (also I don't want to imply you don't understand what I mean I just want to cover all bases.)) so that the rivalry is mentioned.

Yeah, it is kinda easy to make pokemon. I literally made my own two-stage pokemon while randomly sketching, Booklion and Shelflion, the stages being in that order, you can guess what they looked like. Oh, and the third stage was Librarion, which I had issues drawing.

Shinies are more like mutations in nature. Every now and then an animal may mutate and it's fur/skin pigment will alter, sometimes this may help it survive and other times it may make them die out. There's a famous one about the Darwinian Butterfly, a mostly white butterfly with white specs that could camoflage in trees, sometimes you'd get one that would mutate to have completely black wings instead but they were more easily spotted by predators...however when the industrial revolution hit, a lot of soot being pumped into the air from factories would land and darken the barks of trees in forests nearby which meant the white butterflies would stand out against the dark trees and be eaten by predators while the mutated black ones survived.

Matpat you forgot the other post game events like the legendaries. If you've heard of Hoopa it can literally rip a hole in hyperspace and transport things through that hole like the legendary pokemon, but if Hoopa has this power why doesn't he have the power to traverse dimensions.

Either way, even having a multiverse doesn't guarantee there be an infinite number of normally distributed universes. It's all pretty speculative currently.

Its proven in ultra sun and ultra moon by using the legendary pokemon of the sun if ur playing pokemon sun or moon if pokemon moon
This would also explain why the anime and movies are set in a different word from the games and it would also explain why when you transfer a Pokémon from a game like ruby and sapphire to Pokémon home or sword and shield it says in the description of where the Pokémon came from that it “Traveled through time and space to get to you” so I think that you might be right here.
